help a newb

I finally bought Diablo2 and LOD today and installed them both. Whenever I try to play diabo2 (original) it says to inseart the LOD disk and I end up playing LOD.

Are the worlds/missions/games or whatever the same as D2 with the expansion things? Or are there different missions/worlds/games for LOD and D2?

If they are different how do I play D2 only? (online and in singel player).

As I said I am a newb and I am kind of confused.

Edit] I cannot play online? I can not join a single game or make one of my own, a little help please.

there was a problem is post #1, it was already answered by post #2, the thread was revived by post #4, and I'm whasting my time by typing post #8.
