Wax Bombs

If any of you remember the wax bomb movie from like big-boys (now break) or somewhere like such... it's a pretty cool thing.

Today me and my friend actually tried, and it worked like a dream. We took a coffee can from the garage and used a couple chunks of wax (that i had lying conveniently in my closet... I think one of the misc things I was given when my grandma died, as she was into art. Or possibly from my younger days when we made candles or something.)

It makes a lot of noise, and the explosion was awesome. We only used small chunks of wax so the explosions were between 6-10 ft high, maybe this summer or something we'll try with a whole brick :D

heh, this reminds me of the time my mate made a bomb. It had gunpowder and stuff in it. He didnt want his dad finding it so he brought it to school (lol). Needless to say when people found out they all went to try and see it. Someone broke into his locker and held an auction for the bomb. I tried to stop him but our form tutor began walking towards the locker room so we had to hide it in my mates locker. The teacher didnt find anything out.

Later though, the teacher came back and caught my friend with it. So that kinda sucked...he got suspended. Almost everyone said he was getting expelled but they were wrong.

Bombs can be fun...just dont get caught with em.

whenever i visit my orthodontist he tells me stories baout when he was in college (he went to the same school i do) and he would talk about stealing fifty-gallon drums of grain alcohol from the chem lab and mixing it in a bathtub and having big ass field parties in the middle of campus, and he also talked about how they used to make a lot of triiodine whatever you call it, that shit that you touch it and kabam. i read a recipe for it one time, apparently its pretty cool

That sounds fun. I would want to do it. What/Where are the directions to making a Wax bomb?

1. Take a metal container (as stated, i used a coffee can).
2. Put an amount of wax in it, I assume the more the bigger the explosion. I used about a baseball size chunk.
3. Place the container above a fire, preferrably outside and away from trees (unless you want to start a fire <_<).
4. Wait until the wax is completely melted. Soon it will start on fire.
5. Dump a small amount of water in the container. (1 glass full did about 5-6 explosions for me) and get away from the top.
6. Enjoy explosion, and watch out for follow-up ones. I found it's most safe when the wax stops making a loud sizzling sound.

Nifty. I never heard of a wax bomb. My friend and I found an old microwave once. We hooked it up from a basement outlet and a lot of extension cord. Then we took a plastic cup, but a steel wool pad in it along with something flamable (gasoline or alcohol, I don't remember which), then turned it on. After a short while, a satisfying "boom" was heard and a large ball of fire sprang from the microwave. Ah, the power of fire.

I remeber this one time where my friends and I stuffed some styrafoam into a glass bottle, topped it off with gasoline, and corked it with a rag soaked in gas. We then through lit on fire and threw it into the house of a man who wanted to tear down our houses to build a highway. Needless to say, our house still stand.

Anyways, a more practical bomb is made by stuffing some aluminum foil into a plastic bottle, pouring in some Drain-O (or anything else that contains Hydrochloric Acid - commonly sold as Muratic Acid at home improvement stores), capping the bottle off and throwing it as far as possible. Those things make some loud bangs.

I never really was into blowing thingd up, but that doesn't mean that I couldn't entertain myself with setting something on fire. Cigarette lighter + can of hairspray = flame thrower :D

Hmm, in middle school, my friend and I once made a fake IED by taking an empty soda can, filling it with some white Play-Doh, wrapping the can in tin foil, and then sticking a piece of string through the top. We placed it by the school's "Security Checkpoint" (really just a help desk) at the beginning of 1st period, and by the end of 6th period it was still there, and no one had called a bomb threat or anything.

We then took it home and tried detonating it, but all it did was make a *whump* sound.
