My computer has been having some really bad problems lately. Constant VxD errors among other things. I've tried PC1Click, PC Powerscan, PC Bug Doctor, PC Doctor, PC Doctor Oncall, and a few more that I can't think of. Either you have to pay for a subscription for the program, or it doesn't fix the errors I'm having. The ones you have to pay for are:

PC1Click
PC Powerscan
PC Doctor oncall

The other's I've managed to find a *cough* for. So what I need is either a download link for PC Powerscan 1.2.97 or a good free program that can fix computer errors other than the registry, such as Powescan and PC Doctor oncall. Please help me... :(

WTF?!?! GOOGLE IS TAKING OVER NOW! (ohshiohshitohshitohshit) NOW I HAVE PROOF!

I have seen an increasing frequency in these VxD errors, including myself. I deleted google cookie, but I fear the damage is done. Who else has been having these problems, huh? Admit it! Goole is ****ing evil and has already started global domination of our own computers.

(ohshiohshitohshitohshit) What have I told you all?! Did you believe me?

Try one without the word 'PC' in it. Jeez!

Whats a VxD error anyway ;\

Well, converting your computer to an earlier time might help, or wiping out your HD, although you probably though of those. If none of those programs helped, I don't really know of a free program that will do the job. Sorry.

Whiteknight brings up a good solution. If you're running Windows ME or XP, you can use the "System Restore" tool to restore your system files to an earlier point and that should take care of the problem, just go back to a point before you started having errors.

Otherwise, you might be out of luck unless you can get those programs.
Though I'm not really sure if those would help...

Pix, VxD files are virtual device drivers and are often part of the system core.

One thing you might want to try, Doom, is doing a repair installation of your OS, which you would have to do from DOS. Doing that has saved my computer more than once.

If all else fails, you can back up all your important files and wipe out your drive, then reinstall everything. Keep in mind to use this is a last-resort. You may lose some important files that you forget to back up.

Reboot your computer into DOS mode, and run the setup prog from the Win98 CD, see if there's anything that resembles "repair installation." I've never tried a repair install with anything pre-ME, so I'm not 100% sure what's there, but I would expect there would be some sort of optionlike that. Just avoid anything that involves formatting the hard drive. :)

Sorry, I don't know much about pre-XP. If you were on a mac, I could have had your solution way back a long time ago. I was on mac since birth, but recently switched to XP. Bad decision on my part :(.

I'm not sure if Win98se had a repair program on the CD.

What I would recommend doing is uninstalling hardware drivers, restarting your computer, and then reinstalling them. Sometimes the fresh installations will clear up VxD errors.

Well, since I noticed I began having the problem when I installed Roxio, I decided to reinstall it. Once I downloaded the update for it, my computer began working properly again. So either it's a lot less frequent or the problem has been fixed. Thanks guys.

So... google isn't the root of this evil?

Rats. I'll have to do that sys repair thing though.
