Just a quick question.

Ads sometimes come out of no-where when i come to Warboards sometimes, and i don't think it was always there. I'm not sure whether its just something that my computer has messed up, or if it's supposed to happen. Its kinda gettin on my nerves:)

It's like Warcraft ads or something (and it opens in a new window.) It didn't usually happen so i'm not sure whether its supposed to be there or not.

Can anyone clear this up?

You are infected with spyware. The only ads that Warboards used are google ads which are embedded in the page.

There's something called Zango...could that be the cause? (So it is my cpu thats the issue then?)

Yeah, it's one of those "shopping assistants." I hate those things with a passion.

Try the regular mix of spyware utilities, Ad-aware, Spybot, etc.
Note to Mods: Suggest this be moved to Tech Annex.

If only it was only google text ads and banners. Since AJ left Google's ad services a few weeks ago, I've found almost pornographic banners linking to dating sights and the ever infamous "Hit/shoot X to win a free <insanely expensive electronic item>."

But yeah, everything should be embedded.

We left Google? Why?

I probably know the answer, but I'm just curious.

... We left Google for reasons.
We tried a couple other services.

Modred doesn't look at the ads apparently, as we haven't had any image-based or flash-based ads on the site for a week now, and you can clearly see they're Yahoo based now.

Same thing as Google though, Nuts.

Yes AJ, Modred doesn't look at the ads. He blocks them and just happened to have them unblocked when he saw the aforementioned ads.

meh. i saw the dotorg sig. :P
and oh my gawd.

not textual ads in a box for themselves!
personally i'd rather see them, i think it looks stupid when they're not shown.

It's not so much that I've blocked the ads, per se. I just haven't allowed the new ad server to run javascript in my browser. =p
