Modem Questions

Hi, i am about to buy a Belkin four port router, and need a modem to work with it. I was wondering whether the ethernet modems work all the same, i.e. do the same job, or is the modem dependant on which Internet provider you use? Currently i have a USB modem and need an ethernet one so advice on which to buy would also be useful. Thx Chris.

This is basically a double thread of the one you already have. If you read my post, there's really no need to get a new modem, just a hub (or switch). But to answer your question, yes, ethernet modems do the same job, except you need a router to use them.

I would recomend contacting your ISP and asking them how you would get a new modem (I don't know that much about modems, just how to connect them to the network).

And if possible, try to keep everything in one thread for organizational purposes (so it's easier to keep track of).
