Read the first post in this link, it's almost exactly the same as my problem

http://www.opentechsupport.net/forums/archive/topic/34727-1.html

It seems i'm not the only one who can't figure this out. Does this mean that even with port fowarding, No firewalls and all that that there is no way to play SC without the lag?

something similar happens to me at Unreal tournament 2004.
i think the solution would be by shutting off the firewall on the router and see if it works. that should allow other people outside of your network to join not to end the lag.

Is that shutting down the firewall completly then?

Yes, it is. Although may I suggest that before that you try allowing the UT2004 *.exe's at the firewall settings to access the Net instead? ;)

First try completely disabling the firewall, if that doesn't work, is there "death lag" with EVERY battle.net player? or just a few people?

I generally don't get lag, but I have noticed that with a few select friends around the world we can join each others games, but once the game starts we get the sudden death lag every time, and it's fixed the moment my friend or myself leaves the game.

Does this happen with other computers behind the same router?

it shouldn't effect people under the same router, I havn't noticed that yet so i dont know....

You should have a static IP Address.

STEP 1: Go to the Start menu, and open RUN and type "command" and hite enter. Command Prompt will pop-up. On Command Prompt, type in "ipconfig /all". Go to Step 2 without closing command prompt. <Picture 1>

STEP 2: Go to the Start Menu and click the 'Connect To' option and click 'Show All Connections". Right click on the "Wireless Network Connection" and cick properies. Another window will pop up. <Picture 2> Go down and select "Internet Protocol" and press the properties button. <Picture 3>

STEP 3: In the command prompt, look at all those things in the red box. Copy the numbers the IP Adress in the Command Prompt and type it in the IP Address in the internet protocol window. Do the same for the subnet mask, defualt server, preffered DNS server, and alternet DNS Server.

For the preffered DNS server and alternet DNS server look at the DNS servers in the command prompt and pick 2 of them out of those three.

If command prompt doesn't show the the defualt gateway, use the IP Adress for the defualt gateway.

PRESS OK. You might have to restart your router. MIGHT. If your not sure, press the restart button located on your router, if it doesn't have a resart button, diconnect the power cord for your router, wait like 5 secounds and then plug it back in.

If you need help with any of the steps, ask me.

P.S. I don't think you should have your firewall off. If the firewall is really ruining StarCraft, it would compleatly prevent you from going to b.net. Which it doesn't so turn it back on.

I generally don't get lag, but I have noticed that with a few select friends around the world we can join each others games, but once the game starts we get the sudden death lag every time, and it's fixed the moment my friend or myself leaves the game.

That's almost exactly the problem i've got, but it differs.

-As long as the person can host, i can join anyone's game and play them 1v1/UMS/C-Stomp/whatever perfectly fine.

-I can play with that same person as many times as i like as long as there's only 2 of us. As soon as 1 person joins the "Death-lag" begins.

-No matter how many people there are, no matter their connections or whatnot, no matter if i get a Static IP (which apparently i have to pay for, £5 a month from BT (theiving bastards ><)) the problem will still persist.

-When i contact my friends who are still in game, they always report that the lag has cleared up after i have left (they don't joke about it.)

-I can't create games

-If i try to play someone who can't host either and we get someone who will host the game for us, i drop out as soon as either player (host or opponent) leaves the game.

Thats what happens to me every time i go onto Battle.net. I think the only way i can get around it is to wait for this 12 month contract to wear off and get a new ISP (i think i got it in September last year, so i still have quite a wait left:() This is what a call the 2+ rule, and it stops me from doing a lot of things i would like to do online. Altough i haven't successfully fowarded my ports yet (due to Static IP) i still don't think it will do much good. I've seen a few players who cant host who leave to foward/open their ports but still can't host.
