I have recently purchased Toucan 2meg broadband and have it up and running. I can access the internet ok and there is no trouble with the connection. The problem however is that the connection bandwidth seems to be intermittant as when i come to download something, one time it can download at 100k and the next it will drop to 30k. I have tried reinstalling the Toucan software supplied but to no success.
Also when going on the internet i try to load a page and it often takes 10 times clicking on the link/typing in the adress before it loads, as it normally has no response or says that the site/link does not exist. The connection also seems to have problems in online games as i have tried using it on the MMORPG Guild Wars and it often freezes at the 'Connecting' screen when loading. This often means i have to exit out of the game and try again, which sometimes does not work again. I also go on the game Warcraft 3 and suffer from similar problems, as occasionally the connection is lost and when they 'ping' me i normally get around 250ms which is not what you would expect for 2meg as you would normally get 40-70ms. MSN is also intermittant as it sometimes connects and sometimes does not.
Can someone please help me as it is highly frustrating, and not what you would expect from 2meg broadband. I don't think it is 'Toucan' itself causing the problems, as it seems to work fine on other computers i have tried the same set up on using the same equipment. I'm wondering whether it could be from some software i have installed or simply from overheating. Please help as i don't know what to do!!!

Please help.

P.S. The programs i have installed on my computer are:

Limewire (for music/video downloads)
Xfire (for contacting other gamers)
Teamspeak (For talking to other gamers)
MSN messenger
Ashampoo (A general purpose cleaning program-thi is what i test the download speed on)
Several games.

FIrst make sure that all firewall(s) and router settings are correctly setup, and port forwarding is enabled (when needed for gaming and the like).

Second, try using www.broadbandreports.com to test your line via speed tests, and line testing, or whatever thats called. (Line QUality -- youll have to make an account, but its not that big of a deal).

Also, while your at BBR, you might see if they have a forum setup for Toucan -- perhaps you can get help from other Toucan users, or from people who work at Toucan.

And thirdly, you may just have a bad modem, or you are just to far away from the CO for the service to be any good.
