I'm not sure which graphics card to get. I want a decent one cause I have one that sucks really bad. I don't have a lot of cash to spare either. My friend says to get an ati, but I really don't know. Anyone know which card is the best deal.

if anyone tells you get this or that solely based on the brand name, dont listen to them. look at the benchmarks

benchmarks?
The card you have must really be bad because both of those cards you posted were low-end cards 3 years ago. I would recommend saving your money because you can get a very nice midrange card for $150-$200.

I would recomend an ATI 9800 PRO or higher, or an Nvidia 6600 GT OC or higher.
The Nvidia 6600 GT OC sells for just over 150 bucks and it's a fairly decent card -- I have it and it....
can run WoW on medium-high settings with 60 FPS
can run Guild Wars on decent settings
can run UT2004 at max settings with 30 FPS
can run CS:Source at max settings with 60 FPS
edit: keep in mind you might also have to upgrade your power supply to accomodate the needs of the new card -- you might have to hire someone to install that for you if you're not extremely familiar with the insides of your computer.

Actually, In this case the ATI is slightly better.
For about the same ammount or less, you can get this card:

For the money, this is a good buy.
It may seem that I'm biased toward ATI cards, but the new Nivida cards kick total ass (Two Geforce 7800GTX cards in SLI anyone?). If your budget is under 100, then you should go with the ATI Radeon 9600Pro.

Thats odd....
I have the same video card and CS source at highest resolution medium settings drop to 18~30 FPS for me.

I've recently got mid range the Nvidia 6600 256MB and it runs pretty nicely with GW on highest settings...If you can get that it would serve you well.
Though I might need to now replace my SMPS cause now my 5.0 Voltage on the MB keeps falling to 4.45V to 4.4V which prevents the PC from booting up properly.. Don't know if they are related but will try with a higher capacity SMPS than the 300W one I have now.
So yea frazz make sure you have the power to support your card as well.

Let's put it this way. I can't run halo with the decals on with my current card. That mean all units are the same color. That's how bad my current card is. Now. Would any of those other ones I said earlier be worth it?

Well the thing is those cards are...ok sort of but not that great... so basically you'd have a low end card and be out what $60-$70? which would I suppose prevent you from getting a better card till much later. Shop around and see if you can get a better card than this at a little more though reasonable price, that should satisfy your gaming needs for a decent time.
Really depends on how much you can spend .

GT? Dual GTX in SLI is the way to go.
Under 100, preferably around 80$ if i can get a good one for that much. Oh well, my computer is old altogether. Maybe I'll just save up and get a high end computer.
