Help! I bought Call of Duty 2 last night. Bring it home, open it and put it into my DVD Drive since its a PC DVD Rom game. Then the green light goes on, which general means its checking the game. This is where the problems start. Instead of the install window opening up, the drive starts to make this weird sound, sort of like click click click. Puzzled, I open the drive and put the CD back in. Click Click Click. This time I let it stay in there, but after 2 minutes of clicking I get impatient. Maybe its a problem with the CD Drive, I ask myself. So I put in Unreal Tournament 2004 into the drive, another DVD ROM game, runs fine and the installation window opens up quite quickly might I add. Hmm, maybe its a problem with the CD, I ask myself. So I put the CoD2 in my brothers laptop, and the installation window opens. Seems fine too me.

Today, I went back to the store and returned the game and had it replaced with another copy. 20 minutes ago, I put the new CD into the drive..........5 seconds later.

Click Click Click

I think maybe my DVD drive is faulty and simply works with some CDs. The problem is not with the games minimum requirements or my computers performance since Ive checked before and my computer is a beast, and even if the problem lay with the requirements, that problem would come up during installation, not when I put the CD into the DVD tray.

Any ideas? Anyone encountered this problem before? Anyone able to help?

Thanks in advance
Rayne

Did you try cleaning the CD/DVD? Did you try inserting the CD, and instead of waiting for it to autoplay, "exploring" the CD from your file browser and executing it yourself?

Well. While the clicking is going on I tried opening the DVD Drive from My Computer, but it didnt recognize the CD as being in there. There is no need to clean the CD since I just bought it. Please! Im getting desperate.

Actually, sometimes the CDs have a factory gloss on them, and "cleaning them" introduces micro-scratches which some computers find easier to read. How's that for something you didn't know?

I have the problem too. When I put a specific CD-RWs in the DVD Rom drive, it starts to click and will take an extra long time to load the files.

How long are you talking WK? Like 10 minutes? Because I never let the clicking go on for more than like 2 minutes.

My Warcraft III CD doesn't work in my DVD burner -- only my DVD ROM drive.

If you have access to another disk drive try installing with that. Or if you need to, download the game to install it and then register with your legally purchased CD key code. Should work just as well as installing it normally.

Or, contact their technical support and if they determine it won't install on your computer they'll give you a refund or something.

My useless DVD ROM too,is very similar. All of the DVD cds I insert will only result in a crash, except PainKiller. But after installing,it will hang.
