Well, I just got WoW, and I am in love! :_owned:
I have been playing around with all of the classes, and I would have to say my favorite class would be:
Dwarves: Hunter
I gained 11 levels in like no time!
But, I am wondering a few things...
What kind of easter eggs, or "hidden" treasures await in the game? Is there any?
Also, I may start an alternate acount, but I am not sure what I should character I should use...
Any suggestions?

Alternate account = more money spent. I think the term you're looking for is "alt", or alternate character.
As for easter eggs, google is your friend. If you're afraid of google *glares at a few members*, then here are the top 5 results.

The patcher sucks. No reason why, it just sucks. By the way, tell me when you make a character. I'll send ya some money, and you won't even have to pay me back.

The patcher doesnt suck, its just doing its job.
First it downloads all the files it needs to install, then extracts them and places the files where they need to be so that they can work.
And yes, WoW is teh.secks

For your one: That's illegal, and I pray to God you stop playing on it now before Blizzard finds your server (They do look, surprisingly), and shuts you and your friends down, as well as suspend all your accounts.
For your two: Try all the classes. If you like Hunter, Warrior or Warlock may be your liking. Warrior for the long and short range versitility, or Warlock, because you get a pet, and can pound away from ranged.
All characters intereact with each other in different ways (Druid more than any, methinks...), and all have ups and downs. Just try 'em out until you fall in love! :D

If he plays on a private server, he doesn't have an account with Blizzard. Hence, it can't be suspended.
The only downside to playing on private servers is server instability, lack of players and lack of quality content. In other words, Blizzard servers >> private servers in a huge way. Playing on the private servers really doesn't do the game any justice.

And yes, WoW is teh.secksGW downloads and patches in one fluid motion. GW: 2 WoW: 0
I've been playing WoW for a little bit... but as some may know my computer has this major freezing problem. I'm hoping to nuke it today so I can play for more than 20 minutes straight :/

That is exactly what game installers do. Guess what? They don't take as long.

GW probobally just includes the time to download and patch in the same loading bar. Its the same thing.
Sik- sounds like you need a new computer.

Well, I like the private servers, because you actually make friends. Also, I don't have the money to pay for the monthly fee of WoW. Also, what I have seen, this is the most stable server. As far as I know, it's never been disconnected. Also, the people are very friendly. Such as yesterday, one of the GM's gave me a 6 level up, and a piece of gold for an X-Mas present. Not too shabby if you ask me. :P
As for the classes, I'll take your advice. I'll keep messing around. :D

I'm calling Blizzard on you lot. They put so much effort and so much time into the game, and you don't even have the respect for them to play on their servers? Shameful. The point is, private servers are ILLEGAL. You can be ARRESTED for PLAYING ON THEM. IF YOU CAN'T AFFORD THE GAME, DON'T PLAY, OR GET A JOB.

Say and do what you will. But, I played on their servers quite often. But, my biggest problem is, the mass majority of the people are very rude. And do not offer any help to the people who just started playing. Hence, myself. Also, I am not made of money, so I am unable to pay for the monthly fee.
I agree, Blizzard did a fantastic job on the game. But, it doesn't mean a few hundred people are going to ruin their income. If they happen to fthe server I am on, so be it. I had a good run without paying. In my eyes, private servers are better. You actually make friends, and get to know the people!
Anyway, that is my rant on private servers.
Oh, and before I forget... The server I am on, I ave run in to 0 hackers. One more reason...
Private > Blizzard
After skippy's edit.
I have a job. I work 5 days a week, 60 hours total. On top of school, and sports. I have to pay for everything. The only thing my parents pay for, is clothing, and some my schooling supplies. All of my money goes toward necessities. Which, in my eyes, the use of a private server, is at the least of my worries.

Doesn't make it anymore legal. On official servers, you get to know people. You make friends, too. All you have to do is actually interact. Ask around. The game rewards you if you work for what you want. You contradict yourself, however.

See a problem with those statements? On Medivh and Terenas, two official servers, people are very nice. If you ask a question, you get an answer. You look for a group? You find one. Yes, we have our bad eggs, but the mass majority of people are very nice, or at least take time to give you the time of day.

Why are you playing a MMORPG then, when you have many other activities in your life?
They are still illegal like I said earlier. If you get caught, it gets put on your criminal record, which could have disasterous results on your later life.

Well, if/when I do activate my account on Blizzards server, I will play on these. Because, I have not played on these severs. I will remember these.

Well, I am some what of an insomniac. I only sleep 2-3 hours a night. I have tried many different tactics to gain more sleep. But, if I sleep more than 4 hours a night. I am sleepy the entire day. Kind of like if someone sleeps 12 hours, instead of the 8 hours of sleep.
So, I get home from work... 11PM-2AM, I'll play WoW, or do homework for a couple of hours, Go to bed at 4AM, and wake up at 6-6:30AM. That;s pretty much my schedule for the week. Weekends vary depending on time of year.

Ok, let me debunk you right now.
School lasts 7-8 hours. You work 12 hours a day. That's 19-20 hours of a 24 hour day. Plus sports, and homework? That is almost your entire day without sleep. Your body would just collapse after 2-3 hours a night if you didn't take regular naps or breaks.

Every wow patch does a hell of a lot more then any GW patch ever did and the support is far greater, you can also download the patch from filefront the same day usually as blizzard has agreements with them going.
As for private servers, the only benefit is the addition of hacking (nothing better then Taming Sylvanis with a rogue =D) everything else is subpar, this includes the lag issues, support issues and the fact that it is highly illegal and should blizzard discover you playing on one your cd key will magically become invalid. Stick with the public servers.

I don't think private servers are THAT illegal. After all, one of the big reasons Blizz charges a monthly fee is because they also need the money to maintain the servers, so if someone isn't using it, that takes a little pressure off the system.
That said, Blizz also needs the money to fund the production of new content. So playing on a private server is pretty much like pirating a game the old-fashioned way.

It's either illegal or it isn't. There's no in between. Blizzards ToS specicially states that since they've created the game for play on their servers, you must play on them, or else you're taking it away from them. It's illegal according to that.

Well said. Now, I think it is time to close this thread. I don't like our members talking about illegal usage.
