View Full Version : Making the Dropship Attack [split]

Along these same lines, have we gotten the dropship to attack? and if so how was it done?

If I remember right, the dropship already has an attack button that just doesn't appear, and it would make sense to say that because of that, the iscript of the dropship would already be setup for attacking. So, assuming those two points are true, making the dropship attack should just be as easy as giving it a weapon in Arsenal III.

Dang i tried that... even gave it the BC's Graphics, and it never fired, maybe i didn't do one key thing but i think i set it up correctly, i'll check it out, thanks though:D.

Ya i checked the bc's info for attacking, and i made it the same for the dropship in arsenal 3, but it still it didn't attack, the only things that were different from the bc was huge to large unit and not being a spell caster, the dropship's look was even changed to the bc itself so it wasn't a question no attack animations.

Actually, the dropship does not have an attack animation. You are right about it having the attack button, though.

But, it should work if you make the graphic a unit that has an attack script....hummm....

I did though, i turned it into a Battlecruiser, and yet it just sat there like a lemon, lol.

That's odd. Are you sure you changed the AI functions for it in A3 to that of an attacking unit? You also gave it auto-attack and attack-move, right?

Okay on the attacking dropship subject. I have done this before. And the way it needs to be done is you need to make it a weapon that has its own sprite/flingy
(like the gemini missiles). But unless you make your own attacking animation you can't have it have anything like the Guass Rifle or The Twin Autocannons. Hope that helps a little.

So i take it The siege tank's Shock cannon is out of the question right?

I'm not really sure U-238... I've got some links, a thing about my personality, and a link to Popcorn Revolution 5 in my siggy, there aren't any programs in there. Although I am reprogramming StarCraft.org at the moment, but that hasn't quite made it into my sig yet...

JarqaFelmu, I think all you need to do is add in an attack animation like U-238 said and then do what MidnightGladius said - change the things on the AI/Orders tab. All weapons in general are the same, so you should be able to use most of them. I don't see why the Siege Tank's Arclite Shock Cannon wouldn't work, but you'd only get the explosion, adding a turret to the dropship would be another matter.

I turned the dropship graphics into the bc and gave it all of the bc's weapons, and yet it did nothing.

Lol, no turret for me, lol i know my limits on modding, rofl;D.

It might graphiclly show up on the dropship, but then again it may not. Give it a shot. Hey the wost that can happen is the game will crash.
