Thread priority: response by morning would be good :P

So PNYs website says you need a 350w power supply for the GeForce 6600 GT. Would I be able to run it with a 300w power supply?

If so what are the consequences, and if not is there another graphics card that can run CS:Source at a minimum of 30 fps on near-max settings with a 300w power supply?

Relevant Specs:

300w power supply
1 PCI wireless network adapter installed (enabled)
1 56k modem installed (disabled)
1 free PCI-express slot for a new video card
AMD Athlon ~2.2 GHz

Oh I'm pretty sure that will run. In fact I KNOW it will because I can run my 6800 Ultra on a 300 watt...if I wanted to that is.

hmmm, well realistically theres no way I'm going to make it to a store, pick up the card, and install it before christmas. So I'll keep that in mind when I'm shopping after christmas :P

BMB, that's like asking the question if it's a good idea to hold up a car with a wicker basket. Sure it may work, but it would be highly unstable. If the vendor says you need a 350 watt PSU, I wouldn't be dumb and upgrade to something maybe with a little higher capacity. I'm guessing that Rangnarox's computer crashes frequently under full load.

alright, I'll keep that in mind as well.

However the 350w recomended is "with a number of other devices installed"

Does your computer have more than one hard drive, more than one optical drive, a powerful processor, etc.? Also if you have an SLI capable motherboard, and you plan on upgrading in the future, a new power supply would be a good investment.
