As some may know, I'm trying to create guildwars-sanctum.org, but I am lacking some knowledge.
What would be the best way to go about creating a register/sign-in like system, like sc.org. Signing in would let you do the normal stuff like leaving comments and taking parts in polls, submitting tutorials etc.
All help is appreciated.
You might look into something like Drupal or some other content management system (google: CMS).

Thanks Neo.
Drupal has lots of good reviews and it's free... but I'm having trouble reading the install.txt. It's all jumbled and stuff... anybody know the basic installation/follow-up manipulation?
Nvm, I found the online version... but I need clarification on this part:
This will create a new directory drupal-x.x.x/ containing all
Drupal files and directories. Move the contents of that directory
into a directory within your web server's document root or your
public HTML directory:
mv drupal-x.x.x/* drupal-x.x.x/.htaccess /var/www/html
So i dled drupal 4.6.x, i should have a directory like this:
mv drupal-4.6.x/drupal-4.6.x/.htaccess/var/www/html?
then i put my .htaccess in the .htaccess folder? or is it that the .htaccess is the file, and /var/www/ is another directory in */drupal-4.6.x/ or what?
*is confused*
untar/zip the drupal package to a folder, open up FTP for your host, upload the contents of the drupal folder to the public_html (or such) on your host.
then start modifying it.

Ok, I have for folders:
-Cgi bin
-drupal (folder containing all the drupal stuff from the zip)
-images (contains images... <_<)
Then in my main directory for files i have:
-.ftpquota
-home.html
-styles.css
So how do I go about creating a page with the drupal effects added to it?

bump ... ... ... I am still in need of assistance.
drupal doesn't add effects.. you install the cms into a mysql database which then is run via the php scripts included with the cms download.
perhaps read the drupal instructions? ;)

they ran around in a non-sensible manner... so i decided to come to you guys.
so... put that in newb php/mysql/cms terms?
really, the manual supplied with it is the best resource for installation. but if you're not capable of reading it.. well, its going to be hard even with personal help.

I wasn't genna read the manual cuz it's all run together and hard to read... and i was genna post it in here so you could see how bad it is. I then realized when I pasted it into the box... it was now formatted <_<, so I just need to try pasting it in a different program to read it...
