one around my waist ( i just showered )
one across my shoulders
and one around my head because i have a major toothache ( imagine those pictures of alfalfa from the little rascals :( )

well, my real question is, does anyone happen to know when pain from wisdom teeth is supposed to stop, and does anyone know any remedies?

the teeth themselves are fine, but i have an inflammed gum around that one tooth in the back and it's been killing me for 2 days now

I've been taking aleve (aspirin) and i got orajel yesterday, but the orajel doesn't seem to work for long periods of time and the aleve doesn't work consistently :(

well, thanx in advance guys, time to go pack to go back to college :(

I find ibuprofen works much better for pain. 250 to 500 mg should work fine for temporary relief. Go see your dentist about it if the pain persists. They may be impacted, and require removal.

and next time, brush your teeth regularly.

I, until a few months ago, brushed with great dedication. Then i laxed, and got two cavities. Now im vigilant again.

Brushing your teeth has nothing to do with wisdom teeth.

People who se me brushing my teeth think I was killing an animal. Anyway really people be careful waht you eat, ate some popcorn a month ago, one of my fillings ( my only metal one ) broke. A part of it and then all of it. Well they can't put a new one ( the tooth can't support it or something like that ), and it was on my last baby's tooth which for some reason isn't coming off and anew one, which should be growing underneath it isn't. Yeah bad situations happen just like that. Hope you have a nice time.

Btw I hold the record - 1 over my shoulder, one over my waist, 2 over head (ninja), one on each hand andone as a whip :)

Unfortunantly, I am rather lax in my brushing, but I have yet to gain cavities.

Ditto. On the weekends I rarely brush unless I'm going out :).

My girlfriends mom is a nurse and she gave me some high (350 mg) aspirin to help and i took a few more aspiring an hour ago and it's not too bad, but it is definitely the gum, and i've been trying not to do much chewing or talking (eating scrambled eggs hurts :( )

after i go home for christmas break i'm going to have my wisdom teeth removed and hopefully it won't be too bad... my mom had 8 teeth removed (4 wisdom and 4 others because she has a smaller mouth) but it was so long ago I don't remember if she was in pain for a long time or not.

Has anyone had to have wisdom teeth removed, and if so what kind of pain and recovery period should I expect? will I be able to sing within the same week, or will I have to wait? any and all answers will be appreciated :)

thanks guys :)

um....go to your doctor (i.e. your oral surgeon) and ask for vicodin or similar painkillers. aspirin and ibuprofen just don't cut it. it's not healthy to take aspirin in high doses anyway.

I had my wisdom teeth removed sometime in August. It wasn't particularly painful, more of a dull ache, as i recall. Pudding became my staple food after the surgery, to avoid damaging anything.

Bah, you don't need painkillers, that stuff just dulls you. Be a man, eat lots of ice cream, and pull through it :P

Your surgeon should have told you how long you could expect the swelling for. They also should have given you Tylenol-3: that's standard with most. Well, just make sure you keep the blood clotted (ie. no rinsing out your mouth, drinking with a straw) and it will heal faster.

I haven't gotten them taken out yet, hopefully in a few weeks though

the pain has kind of subsided today but keeps coming back and it's annoying...

WK, thanks for the advice :) when I get them pulled I'll be back at home so I'll make sure I get lots of ice cream :D

what is the standard time for healing though?
