View Full Version : Your Favorite Cheese Tactic

What's your favorite cheese tactic? Whether it be late, mid, or early game, it's gotta be cheesy and annoying. Some people like cannon rushes.. but come on. =) Let's be a bit more original!
Cheese Tactic Favorite: Plague those depots! Players tend to set depots up in large herds, I mean groups. A well placed plague or 2 could deliver a powerful blow to those depots. Imagine plaguing 10, therefore eliminating 80 unit storage. And man, those depots are annoying to build =)). As a zerg, you could suicide your army to destroy the Terran army. However, they won't rebuild, and being Zerg, you can rebuild really really fast =DDDD
Try it if you like, it's rewarding. GL HF

I'll have my Science Vessels Irradiate and Defense Matrix each other and patrol over the enemy's resources line or their troops (if they're organic, :P). I find that to be a lot of fun. What I like is I believe it won't give the player a "Your forces are under attack," message.

If there's like a ridge over my enemy's command center in their main bas, I'll just pop a few ghosts and blow all their workers, or if I'm playing as 'toss, psi storm all their workers
One tactic that works sometimes is sending a worker off into the enemy base right away and try to distract the enemy workers, It's underhanded most of the time and doesn't always work v.v

Lol, i like Ritz mini peanut butter sandwiches
I like a combo of siege tanks advancing with a few wraiths and a science vessel overhead.
Tank group1, siege mode; tank group 2, tank mode and move in front of tank group 1, then siege mode. Now Tank group 1 goes infront of tank group 2....nothing can get past this...unless we're dealing with mad people:o (A.K.A. 100lurker+100 Carriers+100reavers+100dark archons+100 siege tanks.) And what are the chances of that? -Very Likely:rolleyes: -

It's not really regular to send one of your workers to distract your enemies is it?

Number one, carrier massing is a strategy, not a tactic.
Number two, carrier massing is not cheese, it's easilly countered.
Number three, do not mention massing (insert unit name) again, it is like holding a sign saying 'I am a noob'. Use more technicle terms if you dont want to show off your n00bness.

I find a fun tactic is to drop Medics in the opponents bases. If they're realtvely undefended expos, you can bing a Science Vessel and blind their Observers, hopefully without them noticing. Then when you come in to fight, their Observers are already useless.

1. Well it could be a strategy depending how you use those massed carriers
2. Many cheese tactics can be countered
3. ok.....I don't really get how mentioning massing (Unit name) is really "show off your n00bness", you don't ALWAYS have to use technical terms...

Definition of a cheese tactic: something small which most would consider insignificant, but can bring about deadly results if left unguarded.
Examples:
Cannon Rush
Plaguing buildings (until they burn)
Plaguing mass carriers :D
Unpolite workers in enemy base (the kind that attack, run, repeat)
Etc...... ;)

Psi storming workers?
Nah, that'd be rooted out eventually. And definitely isn't insignificant, that could be crippling at the best of times.
I'd say Burrowing zerg forces until it's time to strike or defend would be good, make your forces, gather them where you want them and burrow until the time is right. Unless your opponent actually makes use of detector units, they won't find your forces until it's too late. Too bad you can't burrow air units, but you can make a nice minefield of zerglings and hydras... (Hotkey them, of course. How many sets of hotkeys can you get?)
Unfortunately, against a player of any sort of skill, this tactic would be waxed by those detector units. Would never work ZvZ since zerg get their detector unit right off the bat.
Lurker drop would be another good one, if your opponent doesn't catch it. =p
Are these cheese though? They're easily countered, but anything can be cheesy if it catches one's opponents with their pants down. (That's where most "cheese" complaints come from, that or bug abuse )

Hmmmm, i wonder, maybe if some how you have the minerals, you can have 10 dark archons, a arbiter and 1 observer. Then you can go to the edge of an undetected side and mind control every threatening enemy. And if a detector comes, mind control that. It can cause complete caose.
It'll be kind of creepy seeing suddenly out of nowhere, totally undetected, you find out a group of your elite units just blown up your buildings.
-If only there is a way to recharge energy, like the battery recharge thing. It uses up it's hp to recharge energy.
Oh yeah. How come D. Archs lose ther shield when they mind control? It doesn't say that would happen in the manual or anywhere else.

Infested_Zeratul, we're talking things that would actually work...
Tsunami used to use Burrow and Queens in virtually every game. I have a few of his reps that still work, if anyone wants to have a look at them.

Fastest Map Possibles, Irridate workers gathering minerals, all workers BOOM! Players get really p!ss at me though and mass me afterwards.

Heh... Ok.. DONT flame me. I happen to play EVERYTHING (from R Point to Zero clut). During money map games, I'll set up massive cannons and then reaver mass. When you have the money to suicide dozen's of reavers at a time, they're unstoppable. Talk about cheese =D

Reaver/sair is pretty feasible if you can hold onto your gas expos. Otherwise, you're doomed.

'Toss are fairly doomed if they can't hold on to their expos anyways.
