A WinXP problem

I just installed Windows XP and my comp has a world of troubles...ive managed to fix mostve em but for one:

I cant play sound. whn i open a music file it says bad directsound driver. When i open directXdiagnostic tool it says after testing that the driver is in use elsewhere or something...except i dont have anything else running...i downloaded DirectX9b for XP a couple of hours ago, but after restartiung my comp nothing seems to have happened...please help!

Did you upgrade or do a clean install? If you upgraded from a different version of windows, that's most likely the cause of your problems. Try finding a WindowsXP version of your sound card driver, removing the old one, and the installing the new one.

i upgraded...its too late now, i did everything inculiding uninstalling and reinstalling the driver...im back with win 98...and i have to reformat my hardrive. If i copy all my Wc ROC game files onto CD and then back ointo comp will they still work? cause ive lost my ROC cd...

Possibly. You'd have to also copy back your registry keys for Warcraft III as well (but it's fairly easy to export and import them via regedit)

Regedit comes with Windoze...just go to Run... and type in "regedit"
