I likei t except for the lens flares, if you did the 2D lighting on your own it would be much better IMHO. I like the odd space mosaicy effect though, pretty cool. Looks better in your avy though, just because it's more suttle, as well as the lensflares. Looks sorta like a watercolour painting, which might be why the lensflares are bad, they sorta ruin the 'mood', so if you do the 2D yourself make sure to apply the same effect to them.

Yea...overusing lensflare is perhaps one of the biggest mistakes for space pics...

Ooo... How'd you make that? Cause I'd add something like it, only bigger and teal, here (http://homepage.mac.com/doyle/al2d2/crystalFuzz-desktops.html). [shameless plug]

like a watercolour painting,

That's the filter I used for the clouds. Anyways, should I add a watercolor filter to the lens flare? It'd look a bid weird though...

Also, I was thinking, mabye I should put some lightning in the clouds or something.

You do? I think the lens flare in the second one kinda hurts the overall picture though, don't you think? I might tone it down.

I used a tutorial for the planet's glow. The planet itself was easy, just using the sphere filter.

They're all pretty good, just a few thingd for each of them though:

#1 - This has already been reiterated several times, but the lens flare really kills the picture. Instead of using lens flare, try using several different sized brushes, and airbrush in the lights. You can also add a bit better detail that way.

If you're going to use lens flare, try to make it subtle, or distort it in such a way that it's not JUST the lens flare ^_^.

#2 It's very pretty, I'll give you that much, but the tail of flame seems a bit odd. Try extending it a bit more and see what you come up with.

#3 - Again, watch out with the lens flare. Also, be very careful of the lighting. I assume that the lens flare is the light source in the picture. Judging from the size of the flare, and where it seems to be placed, the second (smaller) planet is not correctly lighted. >_> It shouldn't just be on the corners of the planet, but rather covering the entire planet.

However, if you intended the flare to be behind both planets, there's still a minor problem - A) There isn't enough depth to the picture to make the assumption that the light source is behind both planets, and B) the first (larger) planet should be a wee bit less lit than the second.

Nice job on them otherwise though ^_^.

Thanks, Radlin. I love these in-depth replies. They're alot more helpful than those one liners:

"TOO BRIGHT AHHHHHHHHHH". ;)

I'm trying to fix the lighting on the 2 planet one, as of now...Might take a while, I've got HW to do. :(

BTW, that smaller planet is supposed to be a moon.
