Um...I'm not much of an expert at NE, as I'm an orc player, but i'll try.
4 wisps to gold, one to altar
que 5 wisps
first one that comes out, make a moon well, after first comes out, set rally to trees
when money allows, make an aow
send wisp thats done making altar to mine gold, one thats making moon well to lumber
and that should get you started. Thats my bro's strat for ROC, but he doesn't play FT. I'm not sure how well it'll work in the expansion.
I like a teching DH harass build order, basically your trying to keep them in their base while you tech and get to dual AoLore and get bear/dryad. My build goes 'bout the same as Darkeggy, but skip the AoW. Pump wisps until you have like 18//20 supply or so, then tech to tier 2. Them slap down like 3 moonwells and a hunters hall while your teching, and run your DH around their base or their close creeping positions, manaburning their hero and attack it a few times, but never let his troops actually engage your DH (if they try, just run away). A pair of boots and a circlet (from goblin shop) greatly aid you in this.
Tier 2, you then slap down the AoLores, and decided either solo DH or a 2nd hero. A nice 2nd hero choice is KoTG. I like entangle, although treants is nice for trying to catch up on your lost creeping. When you start pumping your initial dryads, you should be able to catch up to your lost creeping time while harassing quite fast. Don't go into low upkeep UNTIL you bank some and get master bears. Then see whats going down in chinatown. If after a couple of engagements, you aren't doing any real damage, lay down an expo, and get another tier 3 unit (chims? Or maybe master DoTT? cyclone is thx.)
If at any point he harasses you, or if you need to change your build, do so. Don't stick to this just because you thought you had to. Adapt. Change.
Basically in your goal is to keep units alive with nice use of rejuv, focus fire with dryads, manaburning with DH and tanking, and entangling and picking off units with Keeper. Roar is also thx.
If you wanna get any upgrades, I upgrade +1 attack on dryad. Thats really about it. Get Anti Magic pots vs UD or vs Hu (stormbolt.. aoksfjkls)
Don't be afraid to tri-hero either.

On another note, vs orc, I've seen a nice build to counter Gruntapult. I don't remember the exactly specifics, but it involves early expanding with 1 AoW archer pump. Then tech and lay down 2nd AoWar, and at tier 2 lay down 2 AoWind. Research riding training or whatever, and pump archer/hypp (should be quite easy with your good income).
How do you keep orc off your back while expoing? Entangling KoTG, and nice use of wisps on the wolves (80% of orcs will FS mind you). I've seen this build done on Gnoll wood most often in "gosu reps", but seems like it might also work on something like Twisted Meadows.
Why would this even work? Well because most often than not, Orcs will gruntapult, then tower your ass. Your working expo will allow you to easily rebuild once you lose your main (and you PROBABLY will, while stalling him at your main). It may sound dumb to rebuild, but believe me your main won't last long once the tower rushing demo carting orc attempts to tower you. There's only 2 way's to not lose to vs a good Orc IMO-- preventing tower or expanding/rebuilding while stalling at your main. Once that tower fails, They've just lost their major source of pressure, while you're in a good position to counter their main.

I first build an altar then a moon well then an ancient of war then make wisps and a 2nd moon well. all you need is constant playing with elves, and you ll find out the right order your own
I reccomend watching some of my friend chrisso {zl-meq} replays and trying the stuff that he does. Just go to www.blizzforums.com and DL some of his replays from the replay thread.

Chrisso's NE is kinda newb. I'd sugguest a more "pro" user at those sites I linked you to.
Chrisso tends to mass archer vs NE, which if its not done right sucks a-hole. He also uses warden a bit too much for my liking.. I only think warden shines vs UD, where FOK is like required to beat ghoul/garg.

All wisps on gold. Build a bunch of wisps and put them on trees. Then make like 5 AOWs (It makes you soo much faster like omg) Then start hardcoring with moonwells. While you pump archers make your altar. By the time you have 12 archers make your hero. Now attack and win. I like using POTM as hero because she has starfall and it's the best SPELL.

You should only have five of the one production building if you have enough resource income to keep a constant building outcome from all five. Idle production buildings are useless, especially if the resources spent building them could've been used for more units/upgrades.
Also, a note on StarFall: unless you unleash this when standing in the middle of their base, it's easy enough to run away from. :)
unless mordekai sucks extremely bad, which im sure s/he doesnt, i think s/he was joking about that whole build
