okay is this on warcraft with sc units or is this just sc
Make that unit unable to move by tweakin' it's move settings to zero / none in the Siege Mode (unit) form. I know from personal experience that the reverse can be done with the submerge abillity, so it's 'doableness' (if this is a word :P) is almost assured. ;)

You can pause the unit. So it can not move. Use the action Unit - Pause.
This way the unit won't be able to attack. If you wan't to make it able to attack, make a region on the position where the unit is standing and if the unit leaves that region, put it back there. (you have to make a bit bigger region (like 10x10) so the unit has some space to turn around)
I think pausing the unit will do.
i want the unit to stand in one spot, like when Crypt Fiends burrow but i still want it to attack.

Hey dayoh!
I have been experimenting alittle on this, you can change the web ability to be able to target ground units, AND you can then remove the art work around the ability (done in the effect/buff of the ability (art target)). So then you have an ability that can set a unit to the ground and still be able to attack... too remove the effect/buff icon at the unit i believe you can even delete the buff/effect from the ability therefor you do not have to remove any artwork!
i have tested it, and it worked for me, hope you can use it!

Ty for that Zipsco, i was going to have a look at the Burrow abiliti myself but i have been doing other stuff with it.
So ur saying "web" the unit in a trigger or something (just tweak web a bit)
cause i have a seige tank (out of SC) and i made an abiliti to turn it into Seige mode and i want the seige mode part not be able to move but still attack.
Dayoh, to see another possible example of what youre' aiming, please peep here (post #15 downwards) (http://www.warboards.org/showthread.php?t=11672&page=2&pp=10). Had to remove the attack abillity myself (since it was my goal), but that can be left aside for your specific case. ;)
I fixed it thx for all the help guys but all i had to do was change "unit speed" to 0 and changed some other ones like movement type and that stuff to none.
Thus resulting in a seige tank when in seige mode loses its movement abiliti but can still attack its like "hold Posistion".

guess you could also just have forced the action hold position in a trigger. (forced for the duration of the immobility

u couldnt do that cause u could have the unit in seige mode the entire game

Yes i know it would take up alot of cpu power continueing the same trigger all the time, but it would be posible... even though there are alot of ways to do this

create a custom ability based off of the burrow/submerge ability, an alternate form (crow with dott or bear with dotc) or even a root ability, play around with these, and ask if you need further help.

Well he got a solution, i just commented, as a theory.
you could make it trigger run but yes it would use too much power, when the easier ways is in the object editor.Oh and who wants to do BETA on my map with me?

try adding "root" to the siege tank and change the ability's "req. animation names" to the animation name of the string that tells it to change its form.
