So he's stating the fact that black people are more prone to commit crimes, for whatever reason? (http://www.isteve.com/Crime_Imprisonment_Rates_by_Race.htm) I believe people are a dumbass for taking it out of proportion. Yes, in this political correct world he probably could have phrased it better, but the bones of it remains. Due to whatever reasons, more African-Americans are convicted and commit more crimes.

Any politician who goes any where near minority statistics involving crime rates or other negative connotations had better be a minority and preferably a Democrat. Otherwise, there's all of about 3 things they could say that wouldn't be immediately twisted into something racist or bigoted by the nearest minority interest group. They'd be wisest just to stay the fuck away from it...

Hell, Bill Cosby spoke out on problems with Black America from the perspective of a Black American, and I swear I heard the equivalent phrase to "Uncle Tom" so many times it wasn't funny. Admittedly he didn't handle the situation with much tact or sensitivity, but he spoke out on what he felt was problems that needed to be addressed. And as soon as he did, the racism flew...from Black critics--and people publicly endorsed those viewpoints.

Race and anything negative is bad mojo for anyone in politics.

Well. There are much fewer blacks in jail than one may suppose to beleive. Ive been told that 1/3 of the Black American population was represented in jails, which is farfetched and just stupidity. Sure a load of black people are in jail, but look at it proportionately, there is almost just as large a fraction of blacks or hispanics in jail as there are whites. So try not and place the gun in the hands of a black guy, when there are a ton of white men and women serving time for murder, rape and what have you.



What is perhaps most annoying about the way the Justice Policy Institute or the National Census Bureau choses to present its figures is that it helps perpetuate the stereotype that a young African American male is likely to be a troublemaker or jailbird. In fact, as a careful look at the figures shows, he is much more likely to be carrying books than a gun. Tremendous advances have been made in crime reduction in the African community . . . which should not be hidden by presentation of statistics that, however well intentioned, show that community in a negative light.

Ahh, the joys of wording a statement badly.....

Really, less people = less crime (As has been said) and also, does this take into account possible racism in the police force?, because that would increase the number of arrests made against minority groups.

And the figures could just be pure coincidence as well.

No, it could be simply random that the crime figures look like that, for example, the police just happened to be nearby on several million different occasions (Unlikely, but possible).

Obviously I read or I wouldn't have put an "i'm with stupid" sign in there. I just felt that IR required more of a post than just a sign so I tried to give my opinion despite the fact that you had already said it. Quite a bother really when somebody already said what you think.
