View Full Version : The never ending Maths Poem! (Part 1)

Among some of my scarier musings during Maths lessons is this one;

A parody of the 'Ten green bottles' classic.

Now you may laugh, you may scream. But, I think we should create a never ending poem out of this. Purely for fun. I've done the first three verses and I'd like you to continue in the same sort of format. I'll update the original post as required.

As it stands;

Ten green bottles, standing on the wall,
Ten green bottles, standing on the wall,
And if x green bottles, should accidentally fall,
There'd be ten-minus-x green bottles, standing on the wall.

Ten-minus-x green bottles, standing on the wall,
Ten-minus-x green bottles, standing on the wall,
And if z green bottles, should accidentally fall,
There'd be ten-minus-open-brackets-x-plus-y-close-brackets green bottles, standing on the wall.

Ten-minus-open-brackets-x-plus-y-close-brackets green bottles, standing on the wall,
Ten-minus-open-brackets-x-plus-y-close-brackets green bottles, standing on the wall,
And if you wish to find the combined circumferences of those bottles, standing on the wall,
It's ten-minus-open-brackets-x-plus-y-close-brackets-multiplied-by-two-pi-times-the-radius-in-cm-squared circular tops of green bottles, standing on the wall.

Ten-minus-open-brackets-x-plus-y-close-brackets-multiplied-by-two-pi-times-the-radius-in-cm-squared circular tops of green bottles standing on the wall.
Ten-minus-open-brackets-x-plus-y-close-brackets-multiplied-by-two-pi-times-the-radius-in-cm-squared circular tops of green bottles standing on the wall.
And if you want to differentiate the combine circumfrences of those bottles with respect to the radius of said bottles.
You get Ten-minus-open-breacket-x-plus-y-close-bracket-times-two-pi-whoops, the bottles got lost in the differentiation.

Ten-minus-open-bracket-x-plus-y-close-bracket-times-two-pi green bottles standing on the wall
Ten-minus-open-bracket-x-plus-y-close-bracket-times-two-pi green bottles standing on the wall
If you want the reflexive property of said equation
You get Ten-minus-open-bracket-x-plus-y-close-bracket-times-two-pi equals Ten-minus-open-bracket-x-plus-y-close-bracket-times-two-pi green bottles on the wall.

Please continue!

Dude, wtf, it's called "math" not "maths" where did anybody get the idea that there's such a word as maths?

[extreme mode] IT IS MATHS. WHOEVER THOUGH OF RENAMING MATHS LESSONS IS A TWISTED IDIOT [/extreme mode]

I really can't be bothered continuing, or even reading the last verse. (even though, if it is a poem, it should be the 3rd stanza)

The people who spell "color" as "colour" will refer to mathematics as "maths". This means pretty much everywhere except the United States.

Umm...negative. I spell colour the real way ;D. And I don't call it "maths," I call it "math." But I know I've heard people call it "maths" I forget why though...

I was being generic. People who use British English generally say "maths" instead of "math". You appear to be an exception, though. I stand corrected.

Actually, I refer to Mathematics as 'Maths' and spell it 'colour'. :)

Updated the poem. Keep 'em coming!
