View Full Version : Melee Map (NEW)

I just made a melee map, I tried to make it fair, but personally Im not into the whole Mirror image of each base so this isnt going to be the same on each base.

This is my first Melee map so keep that in mind. Its looks pretty cool for a quick 1 on 1 match.

The top base is on high terrian where it has some trees for position some defense units or towers and has access to some canyons to place some trools against close quarter attacks so they can still defend against air. A quick expansion lyes down about a click to a hole in the snow where some more minerals and gas lay.

At the oppesit base lyes a base on low snow which has too ramps leading up to the main part of the level. there are also two walls of Outpost u can position your defenses at (IE: Seige Tanks or Dragoons)

This map seems more orented toward terran abilites but see what u can do and leave some feedback. And I know I need to add more terran doodads...I havent excatly tottaly finished it. I just thought ud see what i got so far.

It's a good thing that this isn't finished, because if it is, I would be forced to rant about you. Few things to note:

- Way too many minerals at the main. 8-9 is enough.
- Those two ravine things near the red main are completely useless.
- Random low ground areas just make this even more odd. If the 2 expo has no land route, then the 8 expo doesn't need one either.
- High ground player will almost always pwn low ground player.

What are you talking about all of my expansions have LAND ROUTES....

Hmm... do you call the three narrow narrow passes leading to the 2 expo land routes?

I never said they would be large land routes

Believe me, it is far more profitable strategically to attack from one large entrance (8 expo) than from three small entrances that large units can barely travel through.

aww thats why we have things called stradiges

Adapt..thats what some ppl dont do in Starcradt they want things easy and like massing the same things over and over again. ppl dont play stratigicly anymore and they whine of something is hard

Chokes are a good thing. Heh, if you're a Zerg player like me, chokes are a great thing. However, there is a concept known as balance, and maps must be balanced for the enjoyment of both players. 1 player can't be on an island with 4 mineral patches while another is on a huge landmass with the normal 8 patches in the main and around 10 expo's to hoard. It's just not fair from a gaming point of view. Assymetry is a good concept, but it's hard to apply.

As for my supposed lack of strategic ability, I'll 1v1 you on a balanced map.

LIKE URE MAP, BUT IT HAS SOME PROBLOMS!

Those minerals doesn't look natural, unlike the ones set up in the blizzard maps.

Some Pic# 3 and four shows minerals that cant be accessable until the workers mine through them.

Hmm, while a siege drop would be somewhat damaging, keeping one or two goons up there will nullify any damage. Storm raids are what I'm concerned with :/
