My chemistry teacher gave us this website:
http://privatehand.com/flash/elements.html
and said we can perform the song in class from memory for extra credit.

Heck no,
I don't sing and if (s)he is seceretly grading on how well you sing I'd flunk it :P

Besides, how does anyone in their right mind expect somebody to memorize THAT overnight? o_0
(Assuming this was just assigned and like most work is due by tommorrow)

he also said he only had 3 people who have done it in the last 35 years he has been teaching and hes offered this every year (he has it on 8-track)

and all three of the people were in the last two years.

I dont think the extra credit is THAT important.
Now if my grades were doing badly I might but that thing just seems all out weird O.0

Hey, I'd do it if my teacher let me sing in his class... I hate retraining.

It's the fact you need to remember it all... ugh -.-

It takes me to long to memorize a song, I rather write a paper.

I'm really familiar with that song, I have it on cd and I have the sheet music. $10 to anyone who can tell me what the tune is actually from!!! I know it quite well. ^_^

I'd do it, for the hell of it.

My dad has that song memorized! O_o

TD: I don't know what the song is from, my dad thinks it's that modern major general song but he's not positive.

Fricking A, I would sing Tom Lehrer even if extra credit was not a factor. "Masochism Tango" is probably my favorite, but I'd sing "Elements" anyday as well.

I personally prefer the vatican rag and who's next ;)

The elements song? HELL YEAH!

Actually, most of my class did sing along to it because a video with it on was played on occasion. And its not like I have any dignity at all anyway :D

Tom Lehrer rules!

The Irish Ballad is the best.

I like Who's next and MLF Lullaby, ... oh and the Irish Ballad of course. And Alma. And Lobachevsky. :D

That song plays if you push a button on an old display case at the Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago.

I like the Masochism Tango, The Vatican Rag (First you get down on your knees, fiddle with those rosaries, bow your head with great respect and-Genuflect! Genuflect! Genuflect!), Poisoning Pigeons in the Park, Send the Marines, Be Prepared..the list goes on and on.

Oh and Mattimeo, it is the Modern Major General song from Gillbert and Sullivan's Pirates of Penzance. I freaking love that show. One of my favorites. Alongside the Mikado.
