i am also a strong supporter of age of empires and in this game you can set diplomacy with computer units and establish allies, we should be able to do that with starcraft.. thoughts? comments?

no, it shouldn't be that. Age of empires is a whole different time, and cannot be compared.

AOE is a different game, A historical war game and in order for that game to be historical it has to offer Allaiences like there was back then, now starcraft is a Sci-fi Stratagy game, the makers of SC probably thought this over and decided not to allow it.

(Either that or they're lazy :p)

Yeah, sure. Why not. I suppose if you don't like playing with people who need comp allies, them don't play with them.

Or better yet, if you think you can easilly pounce someone, give them a comp ally to make it a challenge for you. ;)

I don't think it should be permitted in Melee because that could throw of many games. The fact that you can preset them to allies in Top vs Bottom works well enough for StarCraft.

I believe the restrictions on allying in starcraft have forced it to be a far more hostile environment. There is absolutely no sense of security in the game of Starcraft because this fact. That also forces many of us to be creative on how to win on our own accords, even with TvB ZC games you have worry about BSers. An ally option would ruin the originality of starcraft, for it is one of the few games that have very little alliance options.

AoE sucked. Rise of Nations is awesome.

But no, that's a ridiculous idea. Zerg and Protoss negotiating? Frightening. Plus, I'm perfectly satisfied with the ability to choose to either be allied with or fight against each computer opponent at the beginning of the game.

Y would any one think of this.. this is the worst idea ever aoe was a good game but i think that starcraft should stay the same i mean look at it the damned game is perfect as is!

I think the most intelligent answer to this is "pie"

I think it's a bad idea. Who would ally with the Zerg? Starcraft should only be a stand-alone and if Blizzard comes out with a patch where they can arrange alliance status like Rise Of Nations and Warcraft III, I'm not gonna like it. I fight alone and die alone. That's my motto.

I totally agree with King_Master, starcrafts alliance system is built to have you on edge ;)

Besides why change such a perfect game..

Uh...I've allied with the comp. Against two other comps (when my connection disallowed B.net). It's possible. Just not too many people decide to do it, for the same reasons as you guys voiced.

Ive played with PC allies in Starcraft....I uslally end up doing all the work...its pointless with the AI...but they can prove to be a nice distraction...

As far as current ally settings U still have Diplomacy riles in the sense that ppl can talk other ppl into changing teams and joining forces or near the end betray u for no reason but to see U dead

Ive done this in Halo Custom Games where it starts off as a 2 vs 2 vs 2 vs 2 vs 2 vs 2 vs 2 vs 2

and by the end of it it was 2 teams of 8

Its all how u oplay and speak to ppl in my eyes...If u ask polity U end up with a decent polayer with u

ir a noob....in eaither case Diplomicy changing nah....it keeps ppl on edge
