View Full Version : Kazaa lite
Just wondering - do you use kazaa lite?
I was looking at their new site and stuff, and it seems as though you have to pay for it now... doesn't make sense, if you ask me...
can someone let me in on whats going on?

Yea, I use it.
A lot of ppl started using k-lite, so now they want money. But alot of ppl have the installation file, so if someone wants k-lite they just ask a friend who has the installation file. Like me.

So you just have to pay to download it? Not like monthly or anything? Crazy.
And wouldn't it still be "illegal" because they're giving away free songs or whatever. Is it still run by the same company?

Yeah it's still run by the same company, but they're charging people to use it now.
If you look around the internet long enough, you'll find a copy of it. You just really have to dig, and wade through the bad porn and warez sites :\.

Kazaalite is a bastardization of Kazaa, it should not be for sale. Kazaa K++ is an enhancement on the original and lite versions, and is much better in my honest opinion. Searching for a valid file is rather difficult anymore, but it's still a valuable resource.

Wow, thanks Nuts. I messed up K++ on my computer, and had to settle for an old version of Kazaa Lite I found on www.oldversion.com
Cool. :)

Everybody's saying that Shareaza (http://www.shareaza.com/) is 20 times better.... Gonna check it out.

A lot of people are migrating away from Kazaa in general. They're going to programs like eMule and like Luuk mentioned, Shareaza and what not.

/me wonders if this thread should be taken away since it is basically nothing but shameless advertising for file sharing programs.

/me thinks this is a fine thread...because...I can use new programs to do illegal things :).

No, I use Kazaa Lite resurrection, Google it and you should find a download link. As for the old Kazaa Lite I tell you a deep dark secret, if you go to techtv and search for what you want you may just find it. but i have not download anything off there network in forever and the E-Donkey network is so freaking slow it a watse of time, unless you looking for other stuff besides music.

While we're talking about filesharing, I recommend LimeWire. I have converted several friends from Kazaa to LimeWire, and they all agree that its better. Its free, although there is a premium version. Plus its fast. Just add .com to the name for the website.

Why use file sharing when you're connected with a few "friends" from the nerd blackmarket. No, I will not give you their names.

Asking if someone uses kazaa is silly, and if you use kazaa you better use K++. If we are gojng to go on this file sharing/downloading thing... DC++ or IRC>torrent>programs. K++ is one of the better of all the programs, i've tired sharaeza but i find it the same, just has built in clients ex: BT. I never liked emule/edonkey, whatever, becuase I alwasy got crappy download rates, maybe it was becasue i was trying sharereactor to get things. Then theres the lesser ones.... btw if you can get a hold of an FTP they can be the best depending on the persons settings. :)
and codezero, OMG, lol
bearshare is one of the first programs I used, napster then winmx/bearshare. WOW i think it is still on the old computer of ours though.... but whatever works :)

Excellent, a direct link to it! My friends will be so happy! You've just made about 5 people's day Nuts ^_^.
Also, I was talking about the K++, I'm just too lazy to say the entire "Kazaa Lite K++ Edition", though I just said it there, so I suppose this entire sentence is a contradiction . . .

I'm on to using WinMX. The entire fast track network was becoming too riddled with scratched songs. I didn't go with bearshare because it tells you that it installs advertising software
/me does not approve of advertising software on his PC
I seriously tried to download 23 copies of Incubus's Megalomaniac on K++ and all of them came up scratched. I tried one on WinMX and it was perfect (and even at 192 kbs). It's not nearly as pretty as some of the other ones, but it's fast and it gets the job done.

Anyone who has problems with getting good, not messed-up songs off of Kazaa/K-lite simply doesn't know what they are doing. The asiest way to ensure you get a good copy is search for like 2 min for the exact song you are looking for (i.e. put in the title and artist in the appropriate search boxes, don't put anything for album or any other thing) then when the search is done sort by user. Pick from the top 2 or 3 songs that have the most users listed. You will get a good copy.
That said, I really hate Kazaa/K-lite. I first started hating Kazaa when it kept crashing my computer. So I stopped using it for a while. Then I got K-lite. And I hate that too. I tell you it's nice to get songs, but simply having k-lite open makes my internet connection slow to the slowest crawl you can imagine. Even when there are no uploads or downloads going on. As soon as I close k-lite the connection gets 100x faster. So I never really use it. Ok I admit I used it to get Britney Spears' "Toxic" but I really never use it. I hate it.
I've tried emule and limewire and I didnt like them. Never got used to the interface I guess.

Believe me, hammocksleeper, that's exactly what I did and it never worked. All the songs are messed up on Kazaa.

I burned that piece of sh*t called kazaa K++++ when I kept getting scratched songs...
I use WinMX but its a bit confusing with all those buttons floating around on the screen and some unknown labels like how many servers available. *shrugs in confusion and dl's more songs for free*
I have the exact opposite experience as does H.S. I choose a song that only has 1 or 2 users with high connection speeds, then I'll D/L from them, and most often they are unique uncorrupted files.
The problem with Kazaa is not scratched files, they are intentionally buggy, and done so by the RIAA to confuse and frustrate music swappers. Patience will grant you good results. Using both Shareazza and Kazaa will net a great result as I proved this past weekend.

I had Kazaa, then I uninstalled it. But that damn P2P networking is still there. Every time I try to uninstall it says I do not have administrator privelages or something. It's my own computer, why would there be an administrator, I don't even use a password. Can anyone help?

Every computer has an admin user, and can have normal users. The main difference is that administrators generally have more priveledges, and can install/uninstall, etc. etc. In order to uninstall that program, you will have to be logged in as an administrator.
I'll assume you're using XP, because it sounds like it . . .
First, are you using a family computer? I mean to say, is the computer being used by several different people, (ie your parents and sibling), and do they have separate accounts?
It is very likely that you are on a general user account, and someone else set up an administrator account. If you want to uninstall the program, just get the person that uses the other account (the admin account) to open up their side and uninstall the program for you.
If, however, you're not using a computer that is being used by several people, then you've got a wee bit of a problem. You (or the person that installed/configured your computer) have probably made an admin account, and locked it, and then created a second general user account, which you normally use. This is a problem, because in order to get into the admin account, you'll have to use some reverse engineering to grab the password (or just figure out the password yourself by contacting the person that set it up for you).
I can't really help you there, as my knowledge on how to crack passwords is very poor. However, if I'm not mistaken, TheBroken (http://www.thebroken.org) did something very similar to this on their last episode. I suppose you could have a look at the episode and see if you can do what they did.
Cheers, and good luck ^_^.

From what I have used from resurrection, it is very, very good. I got rid of of regular Kazaa Lite, because of various issues.

It is very fustrting for dial-up users. It takes me about 20 minutes to download one song. How I just love it when I get into listening to the song, when 20 seconds into it, it goes AAAAAARRRRARRRRA RAA GGRRREEEEEEERRRRRGAGAGAAG CHHHHHSHHHHHHH AAAARERERE. Yes, that is the actual sound.
