Is it just me, or did I come back to lag hell after almost a year of not playing? I don't remember Bnet ever THIS BAD on lag... I'll have to check and see if it's my internet connection, because damn... it was painful to lose to those guys. No towerers... too bad.

I get lag quite a lot over Bnet, but it's normally something to do with either myself or my brother downloading something. More often than not my brother. It also depends on where your opponent is. If you're in Great Britain and your opponent is in Russia then there's going to be some lag issues. Also, Battle.net sometimes just lags a bit randomly. A couple of times in the past year, Northrend wasn't actually working. It's things like this that affect lag, it's not necessarily your Internet connection. Although if you don't have Broadband, it might be... but I wouldn't know, because I waited for Broadband before I played Warcraft online...

I believe it is due to the ladder reset. I am experiencing a strange amount of lag. It cost me a game.

I don't think I'll play until this lag dies down. It's not related to your internet connection as much as it is to what Blizzard is doing to Battle.net.

I was hoping it had nothing to do with my internet connection... I just got it set up at my new place. I'm thinking I will avoid ladder gaming until the reset... which sucks because I want to get back into the swing of things.

well they've got gateways so that u cant play with people on the other side of the world. but since the northrend gateway is Europe then i guess what u say about plying agnst Russians could make sense. or is Northrend Europe? i play Azeroth, the US East gateway so im not playing with people in Greenland(just an example) so lag probably isnt distance for me. however, i just played a game in which most if not all players were lagging. i think 3 or so players were kicked for lag and in the end i won cuz of it. but the next game i played i might have been the only one to lag. i was kicked from that for lag. i havent played recently until a week or 2 ago so im not sure how much it lagged b4 then.

Edit: u said u havent played for slmost a year but when u start an account it says that ur account will only last for 3 months of nonuse. is that when 'xp decay' which ive heard of a couple times starts?

When is the ladder reset anyway? I gather it's sometime soon, but Battle.net haven't updated their webpage yet as to when it will happen. Just stuff about BlizzCon.

After 3 months of non-use your account is deleted. Here's the system with experience decay;

Levels 0-9: No exp decay no matter what.
Levels 10-19: Exp decay equal to a loss against a similar levelled player unless you play 1 game a week.
Levels 20-29: Exp decay equal to a loss against a similar levelled player unless you play 2 games a week.
Levels 30-39:Exp decay equal to a loss against a similar levelled player unless you play 3 games a week.
Levels 40-49: Exp decay equal to a loss against a similar levelled player unless you play 4 games a week.
Levels 50-59: Exp decay equal to a loss against a similar levelled player unless you play 5 games a week.

I've only heard of one person ever getting above Level 59, so I'm guessing it's 6 games a week for them.
