Im working on a few maps I would like a team of ppl to help me with. Im not all that great with triggers (not to mention I dont have a lot of programs to work with) But Im intresting in making some new Special Forces, and a new impossible. the Impossible map is more of a Massive level that you have 4 rounds u need to complete, after each round is complete you get "reenforcements" (kinda like that one Protoss Mission from Brood War where you need to move through the defense platforms full of Missle turrets) and the Special Forces will be a little different as well. I was hoping to include some Zerg Playables and of the room some Protoss Enemies and terran enemies. all 3 races would be playable a start. We would use complecated triggers inorder to get really secret units such as Medics and Dark Archons. One thing I hated from the orginal was also too easy to lose completely if ppl are Noobish. I was thinking of a Noob Freindly version of this impossible for when u lose all of your vehicals, infantry, ete.(NOT BUILDINGS) you would recive enough minerals to build a SCV
the "Hell" Versoin wouldnt allow that and when u die u die. Another good idea would be a Unit Trading Area where as you can give allies your units if u so disire. (or they ask nice enough) witch would be in both versions. If anybody is intrested in helping me in the endovor just comment on here or add me to your freinds list on Starcraft. My Starcraft login is DLKutzner as well on there so yea...pretty easy.
btw the only map editors i own are the one that comes with SC and SCMDRAFT 2

Get X-Tra Editor its got alot of freedom with buildings and units.
Also I think the Trade area and the reinforcements would be pretty easy to do. Sounds like a cool idea I could help if you really needed it.
I'll give you my Email if your really serious about this.;)

Nah, SCMDraft2 is WAY WAY WAY better than plain old staredit-based editors like SCXE. Get the trigger syntax right and it's a lot faster, too.

/me gets into 'auto-mode' as Aqo' states * :P
As for the triggering, simply peep in the maps that come with the game itself, namely the Enslavers campaign. You can also get some more maps that involve more advanced triggering for ya to learn upon, such as the Dark Enslavers campaign or the Deception map in B.Net maps area (http://www.battle.net/scc/maps.shtml). But as most our skills, mapping needs to be done by test trial attemps as well.
For the most common doubts about mapping we have the FAQ thread (http://www.warboards.org/showthread.php?t=7391) to assist us. ;)
As for the upgrades above level 3 you can only do it with a more advanced map editor, like SCMDraft 2 or SF or even enhanced ones like SCXE. To get it/them, just clicky (http://www.warboards.org/showthread.php?t=9407).
Afterwards, you must open your map with'em and...
- For SCMDraft 2 head into the "map settings" part under the scenario menu to find it. From there it will be self evident, imho. :)
- And for StarForge, just click in the "player settings" button, select the "upgrades" tab and as above you'll see it crystal clear (or somethin' like along those lines). ;)
/me also recalls to see if this is in the FAQ and/or in the SC.org's Mapping FAQ (http://www.starcraft.org/mappingfaq/) and will complete it a bit (and add it to the revamp) *
- For SCXE (wich I recommend if you're new into mapping due to similarities with StarEdit - the orginal map editor from Blizz'), just look for "settings" under the "player" menu and from there it will be equal to SF's method, wich I described exactly above.
I hope this solves your problem... Oh, and welcome to WB's too.
