This is an RPG based on the Corean Chronicles by Modesitt Jr.

The Matrite War
_____________________________________

The Matrial, Immortal monarch of the nation of Madrien has seen it fit to invade the farming nation of The Iron Valleys. Her slave armies, kept in line by magical collars, are marching north to meet the Iron Valley Militia at their outpost of Soulend. The Militia, eager to protect their small nation, have mustered their horse and foot companies and are re-inforcing their base at Soulend.

The slave armies of Madrien have set up a mobile base outside Soulend, and have a constant supply of new troops from Madrien. The Iron Valley Militia has a strong defensive position and several companies of troopers, but they have been cut off from their supply lines and are fighting for their very survival. If Madrien takes Soulend, the whole of the Iron Valleys will fall before the Matriarch.

The World
______________________________________
The main continent in the fantasy world in the books is Corus, a land of many contries. Madrien is situated along the western coast and streches from the frozen north to the barren south. The Iron Valleys is just what it sounds like, a valley situated between the High Plateu in the east, and mountains in the west. Madrien and the Iron Valleys meet in the north, and the outpost of Soulend acts as the border between the nations. To the south is the wealthy nation of Lanachrona, who is neutral in the war.

The Nations
______________________________________
Madrien is very wealthy and very vast. It covers the entire west coast of Corus and is very properous. It is ruled by an immortal being known as the Matriarch, and has vast slave armies. They are almost constantly at wat with some one. The Iron Valleys is a small nation with a small army, but it controls the only area Nightsheep can graze. Nightsheep are clipped to produce Nightsilk, which can stop bullets becuase it is very strong. They are ruled by a coalition of traders called The Council, and all they care about is money.

Madrien Slave Soldier
______________________________________
They are recruited from POWs and typically have seen a lot of action. They are kept in line by a magical collar that the officers have control over. They kill the soldier if they disobey orders. Typically well trained and very aggressive, as they have nothing to lose. Ethnicity and age vary.

Militia Trooper
______________________________________
Every man in the Iron Valleys must join the militia and serve for a year, and then they are sent home but kept on call in case of invasion, so all Iron Valley men are trained for combat. Broad shoulders and tan skin are common among Iron Valley people, and troopers age 18 to 40 are the staple of the Militia.

Technology
______________________________________
All armies are well equipt with the latest technology. Winchester like lever-action rifles are the staple for each side. The Madriens employ a ten shot, medium caliber rifle that lacks stopping power but has incredibly long range and accuracy. The Militia use a heavy hunting rifle that fires a big, slow moving projectile from a five round magazine, but rifles vary among the Militia as many own their own weapons. Pistols are issued to officers and cavalry. Artillery is breech-loaded cannons.

Magic
_______________________________________
Magic in the Corus typically manifests itself at a young age. Most Iron Valley men and women have small amounts of magical power. Little things like lighting candles are improved vision at night, or the ability to sense the presence of people are common. Only the officers of the Matrite army have magic, but it typically only used in extreme circumstances.

Military Set Up
_______________________________________
Iron Valley Milita: 25 men = Squad. Five squads = Company
Matrite Army : 8 men = Squad. Ten squads = Company

Each Company is commanded by a Captain and an Undercaptain, who acts as aide to the Captain. an Overcaptain commands two to three Comapnies. Squads are lead by Senior Squad Leaders, and Junior Squad Leaders act as aide to the Squad Leader.

Your Part in the Matrite War
_______________________________________

You may play as either an Iron Valley Militiaman or a Matrite Slave Trooper. Ranks I'd like to keep no higher than Senior Squad Leader, but PM me if you want something higher. PM me if you have any questions about the RPG, or the books.

((I am going to try and broaden my rping skill by tring my hand at a male character))

Name:Algrave Moruso

Gender: Male

Age: 25

Side: Iron Valleys

Role: Senior Squad Leader Cavalry

Bio: Grow up a bastard to a father who died during the collapse of the golden age, Algrave had to work hard to support his mother and him. He did not have much contact with the outside world because he watched over Nightsheep for long hours of the day. He was very powerfull in magic but his mother told him to hide it so that no one could exploit it inwhich he did. At 18 he did his part in the milita and showed amazing talent but still managed to hide his magical talent. When the war broke out he was one of the first called apon. The councle gave Algrave a squad of men and a horse and pushed him to the boars expecting nothing spectacular. When he returned with a company's worth of men all covered in slave blood they had questions. They found themselves a mighty soldier who stuck fear in Madrien officers, and his magic was revieled. The thought long and hard about a promotion but never did, they would rather him be the action then command it.

Equipment: A heavy 308. calaper hunting rifle originaly used to protect the sheep now used to slay slave soldiers. Algrave also made himself a all Nightsilk armor which allows mighty protection and light movements. In his side attached to his belt is a 250. calaper pistal. He also carries a long blue tinted sword for rushing into large groups of men where it becomes the faster method of attack. On his head he covers the back with a 'hoody' style top armor leaving his most vulnerable parts, his face and lower torso.

Good Warbrood, but can you cut back on the nightsilk to just a shirt and cap please? Nightsilk is very difficult to produce, and it is mostly issued to officers, but a shirt would be fine.

Name: Morgan Lumstead

Gender: Male

Age: 26

Side: Madrien

Role: Senior Squad Leader (Infantry Sniper)

Bio: Morgan was originally born to a farming family inside the wealthy and powerful nation of Lanachrona, and grew up harvesting cabbages and carrots until he was 16, the age for conscription into the Lanachronan Southern Guard. He joined up the day of his 16th birthday, and was in one of the first Companys to be sent to the front to fight the Matrites in the south. Four years of frontline duty againsth Madrien eventually abandoned him, and he was captured by the armies of the Matriarch. He was tested rigorously, like all POWs, and was sent to Fourtieth Company to serve as a scout. He saw action against the City-State of Southgate for three years, and that is where his skills as a sharpshooter were discovered. After the failed assault on Southgate, Madrien was left open to attack, and Lanachrona took advantage of that. The Southern Guard pushed far into Madrien, but three years of hard fighting won back the taken land. It was after that that he, along with Fourtieth Company, to spearhead the assault on Soulend.

Equipment: As a sharpshooter, he carries a different rifle than that of a standard Matrite rifle. It is somewhat of an older model, firing only single shots. The bullets have a larger powder charge and a longer barrel, these have longer ranges for sharpshooting. He carries a sword bayonet for his rifle, but this can also be used in melee battles. He is in command of an eight man squad of sharpshooters, who carry the same rifle.

6:00 sharp, time for the morning muster. Morgan was standing at attention, just a head of his seven troopers, who were also standing at attention. Their forest green and crimson uniforms perfect for inspection, all the soldiers waiting for their orders. Captain Vorig stood in front of the ten assembled squads, Undercaptain Tarn to his right. He opened up a parhcment and began to read off the orders for the squads. Finally he got to Fifth Squad.

"Fifth Squad!" He called

"All present and ready Sir!" Morgan replied.

"You are to scout the valley between our base and Soulend After morning mess. Engage at will!" He ordered.

"Yes Sir! Fifth Squad, fall out to barracks!" He ordered

The seven troopers saluted, and headed to the barracks, rank by rank until Morgan was standing alone. He saluted the Captain, and followed suite. He got to the barracks, and got his three water bottles and cartridge pack. He headed to the armoury, who refilled the satchel with rounds. Then he headed to the mess hall, where his squad would be dining.

Morgan sat down next to his Junior Squad Leader Klaust, who had already gotten his plate. Morgan looked at the food. Over cooked bacon and under cooked eggs. It was the best they served. He finsihed it, and went out to the field, waiting for his squad.
