View Full Version : The Iron Bitch.
The "Iron Bitch" RP.
Based On the "Deathstalker" novels by Simon R Green
In the beginning was the Empire, and humanity spread itself far and wide across the stars. It was a great adventure and it seemed this age would never end. It took lees than five hundred years for the rot to set in. The First Empire fell, taking all its marvellous achievements with it.
Nine hundred years later, the galaxy is ruled by the Her Imperial Majesty the Empress LionstoneXIV also known as the “Iron Bitch”. The empire is falling apart under her rule, from the Iron Throne on the homeworld of Golgotha, where, set in a deep steel and concrete bunker a mile and a half wide deep underground the empress slowly crushes the empire with her oppressive rule. Corruption spreads throughout parliament and the lords. The aristocracy control most of the worlds in the empire, taxing the populace heavily. And everywhere the Imperial starcruisers drop out of hyperspace to enforce the law with brutal efficiency.
Well, everywhere but one planet. Mistworld, the rogue planet, protected at all time by a psychic screen held in place by two hundred espers ready to activate it at any given time, no imperial ship dares to drop out of hyperspace within range of the planet. That many espers, working in unison can mind-burn an entire crew in less time than it takes to fire a ships disrupter cannon. The reason so many espers are concentrated here, on one world, is because everywhere else in the galaxy they are enslaved, used by the empire for various purposes. Several of them involving their use as guinea pigs in experiments by the empire mind-techs. So Mistworld is the place where many of them flee to.
You start off on the rebel planet as whatever you choose, but first, some stuff about the various weirdness that happens here several thousand years in the future.
Hadenmen: Created in the fabled laboratories of lost Haden, these were the empires first attempt at creating augmented warriors, a single Hadenman could take on a small army. But they were too good, as "gods of the genetic church" they sought to overthrow the empire that would have enslaved them, bringing transformation or death to those who would deny them their destiny as clearly superior beings. They lost.
All Hadenmen are marked by gently buzzing voices and brightly glowing golden eyes. Very few are left and the ones that are still around are now only slightly better than the humans they once sought to destroy thanks to depleted energy levels. If you want to RP a Hadenman PM me. Not too many Hadenmen, one or two at the most. First come first serve.
Espers: Psychic humans, all free espers have broken away from empire conditioning. Empire conditioning starts at the age of six and is pretty much what you would expect from a tyrannical dictatorship. Espers display one of three traits. Pyrokinetic, Telekenetic and Telepathic. I don’t need to explain those do I?
Technology:
Disrupters: A standard hand disrupter takes two minutes to recharge between shots. On tight beam it can burn a way through a steel wall several inches thick with ease. Starship Grade cannon take one and a half minutes, it is standard practice to fire them in overlapping waves to keep up a steady stream of fire….if you have enough cannon. Energy guns are VERY rare on mistworld. And for a commoner to posses those anywhere in the empire means a death sentence.
Monofilament blades: Blades with a monofilament edge, they will cut through anything that is unshielded. They need recharging often however, or the shield that maintains the one molecule thin edge will fail, leaving it only a normal sword.
Projectile weapons: Very rare on most worlds, they were too easy to make and so the first empire phased them out, saying that they were not as powerful or accurate as energy guns. Shot for shot they were right, but an energy gun cannot fire full auto. Even so, making them is a lost art now. And thus the only effective weapons end up pretty much in the hands of the ruling class, which is the actual reason they were banned.
Force shields: A standard shield is just that, a glowing blue rectangle that is projected from a bracelet usually worn on the arm. Razor sharp edges so care must be taken when handling them.
Full Body Shields: Only in the empire sorry, they keep out everything however, including air, so a supply must be taken when using them.
Starship Shielding: Need I explain?
So, on Mistworld, unless you are a real mover or shaker, or a damn good thief, or a Hadenman, or possibly ex-imperial, keep off the high tech. Crossbows and swords are standard fare for bounty hunters on a planet comprised by definition wholly of outlaws there are rather a lot of those. (Dont worry, one of the first jobs will be to steal a lot of firepower)
Bad Guys:
The Empire, tyrannical, far reaching, vindictive and ruled by a psychopath with a nasty sense of humour. Brutal and corrupt rule everywhere, any other kind of rule is expressly forbidden by the Empress. And those who dare end up with their world scorched to the bedrock. The Empire has recently designed a new stardrive reverse engineered from barely understood Alien technology. This new "E-Class" stardrive is far superior to any other. E-class ships are faster even than hadenman ships, although less well armed and sheilded. Very few of such ships are in service.
Shub: The rogue AI's of the planet shub have declared war on flesh based life and seek to replace it with their own perfect metal form. Armies of computer controlled corpses called "Ghost Warriors" march forwards to crush isolated batallions of empire troops and their androids in flesh envelopes, the Furies, are all but invincible. Shub is currently under blockade by half the Imperial fleet in a bloody stalemate. But still the occasional ship gets past the blockade, and Shub ships are very very powerful indeed. Shub are the Official Enemies Of Humanity.
So, character sheet
Name: Alec Ripper
Description: A six foot tall ex-imperial marine, carries an older model of disrupter that takes two and half minutes to recharge, wears a steelmesh tunic and a heavy sword. Dark hair and brown eyes.
Class/Race: Human
Age: (On mistworld normal human life expectancies, unless you are Hadenman of course in which case well over two hundred) 35
Background: Alec Ripper joined the imperial marine corps at the age of twenty and distinguished himself in the wars with the rogue AI's of shub, he fought his own dead comrades, reanimated by the AI's and did not break, he fought the empires enemies and fulfilled his oath to protect humanity on a dozen worlds. Then the ship he was assigned to, the Devastator, was sent as part of the fleet to scorch Tannin, a world that the empress had outlawed. That was too much, fighting those who wished harm to humanity was one thing, massacring innocents from orbit was quite another. He realized the evil of Lionstone's rule for what it was and bided his time. He got his break when the Devastator was patrolling around mistworld, careful to stay out of range of the planets formidable teeth. He hijacked a ship's pinnace (armed dropship) and made for the rebel planet with the engines going full blast. He made it within the espers range before the Devastator could atomise him with its disrupter cannon and crashlanded just outside mistport. The pinnace's guns were cannibalized for Mistport's defense systems and he eventually netted a job working for port security, where he still works.
Possibly anything else:
Make it up, you can be a clone, you can be several clones if you need to :D. Remember, you will probably need to be good with a sword unless you are an esper or have a projectile gun.
Any questions/constructive criticism?

Name: Hadrien Lock
Description: 5'9" with tighter-fitting clothes, and 3 small knives that go in a pouch on his thigh. A more muscular build. Black hair and blue eyes.
Class/Race: Esper - telekinetic
Age: 31

He had a small minor ability to block telepathic readings of his mind, which helped him escape later on. His real talent was telekinetics, moving objects around with his mind. Using that and various forms of hand-to-hand combat, he can be a deadly threat, even against somebody with a sword. That does not mean he cannot use a ranged weapon, but seeing as they are harder to get these days, he doesn't much care for them. Currently, he's training to become an agent, with the intent on sabotaging and spying on the Empire later.

Name: Tyro Concord
Race/Class: Human
Description: Six foot eight and weighing in at 255 pounds. Bronze skin tone, short cropped almond colored hair. Dark crimson eyes. Has a wolf head tatto on his right shoulder and a skull on his left. Usually wears his old duty uniform.
Age: 38
Background: Tyro grew up in the Empire and was lucky enough to enjoy it, most children didn't get that privilage. However, due to his body structure, he was drafted into the Imperial Marines when he was 17. After training, in which he had become a Sergeant Major, Tyro was assigned to Steel Battalion of the Emperess's Own Regiment, who were the best of the best and served as body guards for the royal family. He served out a twenty year tour of duty, after which he was released as a Master Sergeant with a handsome retirement fee.
Even through all the places Tyro travelled with the royal family, he had still never travelled to the outer rim worlds. Selling all but a few of his prized possesions, Tyro travelled out of the core worlds to visit the unkown. Tyro left with haste as teh Emprie became more and more expansionist. He ended up on Mistworld for his fourth stop after visiting Alphanes, Centauri and Raiden-Winterhowe. Although he does not support the constant expansion of the Empire, he still takes pride in the Marines and the royal family to an extent which causes him to still lean slightly towards the Empire in heated conflicts.
Hmmm… I might join this. But unfourtunatly it seems there are already too many Espers :/ But when I get time I'll type up a character for this. Preferably an Esper, but if not I've got a few thing up my sleeves. *Evil cackle* XD
Ahh what the hell, Im starting it, you can still join, just PM your character sheet and I will find a place to drop you in, you are going to have to be on other worlds If you join once we leave Mistworld however.
Here goes, *Deep Breath*
Alec Ripper
Mistport Landing Pads
Freezing
--------------------
Alec was cold, very cold. Here he was, standing watch over a starport whose only customers were smugglers ships, and they usually had securuty systems way smarter than anything mistworlds criminals could dream up, and as criminals this lot were damn good at it. He stamped his feet and banged his hands together to try and keep warm, even inside his gloves and thick coat and armour he was almost numb.
Typical bloody Mistworld summer.
He patched into the control tower via his comm-implant and made his report
"Ripper to control, Ripper to control, all normal out here, cold, damp and depressing, can I come into the warm now?"
"No you cant, make one more circuit of your sector then set the proximity mines, THEN you can come into the warm...."
"Alright, Ripper out"
He walked around for a bit and was just preparing to set the mines when he noticed something by a stack of cargo crates, he squinted into the mists and saw what looked to be a figure crouching furtively behind a small box of something or other. He drew his sword with one hand and his disrupter with the other, and moved slowly closer.
"HEY! YOU THERE!, SHOW YOURSELF"
The figure looked up and raised something, Ripper dived to the side just as the figure fired the disrupter, the glaring yellow beam seared across the ground where he had been standing, vapourising the snow lying there. He scrmbled to his feet and fired his own gun, smashing a large hole in the container behind the other man. They both drew their swords and ran towards each other, disrupters now useless untill two minutes passed, and the fight would probably be over by then...unless the man had another gun, or a friend with a gun.
The two swords met with a clash and almost instantly hit again, followed by a third time, rippers opponent was a formidable swordsman, after a few seconds ripper realized someething else. The other mans fighting style was remarkably similar to his own, the bastard was an imperial.
Already backup would be on the way, he had sent the call for distress the moment he fired his disrupter, but Imperial agents didnt operate alone, there were no doubt others waiting in the shadows, either waiting for a clear shot or abandoning their collegue to his fate, that was the bottom line with the Empire, everone was expendable.
He dared his opponent into crossing blades, and, across the two swords, nutted him before kicking him in the crotch. He quickly ran the man through and turned to see the three other men advancing on him with swords drawn.
"Shit....I really may have bitten off more than I can chew here" he muttered to himself.
The disrupter blast took ot one of the men before he had formulated a second cohernt thought, and then a note sang out, high pitched and painful. The two other men collapsed, blood running from their sockets.
He knew who it had to be.
"Hello Topaz" he said as he turned to face his savior.
Investigator Topaz, the only esper Investigator the empire ever commisioned, and the only Investigator ever to go rogue. Trained from childhood to kill aliens, and anything else that was a threat to the empire, Investigators were as perfect as killing machines got without heavy duty gengineering. And Topaz came to answer a distress call from the starport? Something was happening, and he decided it wasnt going to be good.
"Ripper, the council sent for you so get your arse to the council buildings now, I will see what these fuckers were up to." she said
He did so, you did as Topaz said....or she hurt you. People still talked about the bloody trail she carved through the city when she was searching for the killer of her husband. Who she had cut down in an impressively messy way.
Ten minutes later he ran up the steps of the council building and into the lobby, the receptionist looked up.
"Ah, mr Ripper, the councilors are expecting you, go on through"
"Thank you" This was getting more ominous by the minute.
He stepped into the meeting-room.
"Ah, sit down will you?" Said Donald Royal, the oldest serving councilor on Mistworld "we have a...proposition for you"
"Where are you sending me and why is it me" he replied bluntly
"Because you are ex-imperial, you know the empire"
"So do lots of people on mistworld....WAIT!, your thinking of fighting back arn't you? you want me to do something incredibly stupid that will no doubt piss Lionstone off even more than our existence already does and you are choosing ME because technically I am an accomplice to war crimes and thus expendable!"
"Pretty much" snarled Port director Steel "The Empire has recently discovered a new form of stardrive that will make the Imperial fleet all but invincible, we need to do something about her rule before she puts Mistworld under a complete blockade and starves us of the tech we need to survive."
"And what is an ex-marine supposed to do about all this? I'm only a man for crying out loud, im not a legendary fighter like Royal once was, I am not an accomplished criminal like you are and I have sod all in the way of connections as well for that matter"
"Just do it alright, we have our reasons, we cant use anyone important to the running of Mistworld and we cant make it too obvious its us doing it, we are still weak from that bloody "Typhod Mary" debacle and if Lionstone knows just HOW weak we could well fall and any chance humanity has for freedom will die with us."
(Typhoid mary was a brainwashed esper the empire smuggled onto mistworld, she went around killing people in the hope of taking down enough espers to weaken the psychic screen, it wasnt her fault, the esper guld is currently deconditioning her)
Ripper sighed inwardly
"Alright, you've got me, what do you want me to do?"
"Take this list, on it are the names of a number of people you will recruit, bring them here and we will discuss the next step of the plan"
He took the list and looked at the first name on it....
"Oh SHIT" he said, with feeling, "It will all end in tears...Probably mine"
<Tag all for the introductary posts, what you are doing etc and then im coming looking for you, its revolution time!">

Tyrone Lockheed
Mistworld wilderness
Freezing, but to a lesser extent
**************
Tyrone watched his breath daintilly billow from his mouth in a cloud of white vapour as a five-being group of somethings passed through his domain. His left disrupter charged and filled Tyrone's body with unnatural heat, before being discarded into one of the things.
The companions of the one Tyrone had shot immediatly turned and fired their disruptors. Obviously, they missed. The Hadenman was faster and stronger than these humans could ever hope to be.
As he rounded to their rear, he fired another shot into the crowd, but missed. He drew his sword, charged one of them, and cut his first opponent down quickly.
The second was much more skilled, and managed to nearly behead Tyrone before he too was killed. The second one dropped his weapon and fled, but his dropped disrupter was picked up by the Hadenman and shot into the back of the coward. All that was left was a mere child compared to Tyrone.
The android turned to the final human, a small girl, only slightly over 17, and said, "You and your companions knew not to cross here. Why did you come?"
"W-we got lost. We we-were looking f-f-for a way back and y-y-you showed u-up." the girl stuttered in fear.
"You speak the truth. I'll grant you amnesty this one time, because I do not believe in killing children or women. Now, you may pass through here just once. But if I see you here again, I regret to say that you will not be granted a courtesy." the Hadenman said with his somewhat... robotic voice.
The girl fell to her knees, heaving heavily, breathless from fear. Tyrone was somewhat infamous for killing anyone who tresspassed, and he rarely made exceptions. The hadenman quickly disappeared into the snow, until he found yet another human on his property.
He raised his disruptor, and shouted, "Who goes?"
"I go. Alex Ripper, from the Council." the man said.
"You need me, because?" Tyrone retorted
"I need you because we need someone to help us fight the Empire. Do you accept?" Alec asked, a bit of desperation in his voice.
"I have nothing better to do." Tyrone said, and lowered his disrupter. "Show me the way, unless you need more people with you."

Hadrien Lock
Mistworld Spy Headquarters
Hand-to-hand combat training
______________________________-
Hadrien shifted his weight on both legs, checking to make sure the black pants he had on were loose enough to move but also tight enough so they couldn't easily be grabbed. Satisfied, he called out, "Ok Meiers, I'm ready."
From behind a one way mirror, Meiers said "Yeah, right."
Three trainers came out, all had swords that were sheathed. Hadrien analyzed the situation, watching the three as they surrounded him. The one behind him coughed, probably trying to catch his attention as the one to his right came forward, his fist coming up quickly. Hadrien sidestepped, pushing the man's arm as it came up, and delivering a quick punch to his side and back, then jumping and kneeing the guy in the face.
The guy who coughed grabbed Hadrien as he landed, putting him in a full-nelson. The last guy to move drew his sword, coming for a slash at Hadrien's ribs, which was strangely stopped suddenly and flung across the room. The guy's face showed brief frustration, then Hadrien jumped up, using the guy holding him to help, and dropkicked him.
Dealing with the guy holding him, Hadrien swung his head back fiercely, the third time breaking the guy's nose, and loosening the grip. Hadrien spun around, bringing the man's arm with him, and breaking it by twisting. The man fell to the ground, groaning. The other guy had recovered his sword, and the other guy had drawn his. Hadrien faced the closest guy, punching at him, and using his telekinesis, hitting the guy as if he was right there punching him. Hadrien temporarily took him out of the fight by tripping him using telekinesis.
The third guy came in quickly, sword sweeping toward Hadrien's head. Hadrien held out his forearm, and invisible barrier stopping the sword, and then holding it. Hadrien spun around, his foot with him, and hit the guy in the head. It fazed him, and Hadrien put both outstretched hands to the guys stomach, and blasted him to the other side of the room, hitting the wall. The man who was tripped got up, and ran towards Hadrien. Hadrien stopped the man's momentum by making an invisible wall, then quickly kneed him in the stomach. As he was doubled over, Hadrien pushed his head down and brought his legs up, and while in midair used his telekinesis to blast the guy a few yards and then roll to a stop, unconcious.
Hadrien was breathing slightly heavily by now, and was caught by surprise as the third man, the one he blasted to the wall, put his sword to Hadrien's neck. The indicators on the edge of the sword flashed, and the belt on Hadrien shocked him. The guy put the sword back in his sheath, and medics came in to deal with the trainers.
Meiers' voice boomed out, "Well Hadrien, looks like we lost now, didn't we?" He was a bit too happy Hadrien had lost. "Well, somebody is here to see you, an Alec Ripper. You know him?"

John Besteel
Mistworld central city streets
Normal temperature
***
The bounty hunter walked through the streets. He was careful to look straight ahead. It got him the desire affect. The passerbys moved out of his way. In streets of Mistworld nobody cares if you look like a killer, they just want to get to the coffee shop in a hurry.
Besteel tried to remember as much as he could about the man he was going to meet. One of the council members of Mistworld, he offered a job that would reward him with a list of the current members of his brothers court. It's a simple job the man said.
As he approached the building he nodded to the side to signal a paid bystander to start counting the time. If he doesn't come out in 15 minutes, there was going to be a big commotion outside involving a crowd of naked people running about. The esper would not falter in his job.
Donald Royal allowed him into the room and laid out the plan. An operation was taking place with a few resistance agents. Besteels job is to seek out several targets that would have a chance of finding out about the op or might be in the way of it. A small difficulty the councilman noted was that some of them were in research facilites near the border worlds. Others were situated in the fleet itself.
"I know it's not a walk in the park, but it's your job to do it" councilman Royal said coldly.
"I might have to acquired some tools for this if I want to escape detection" Besteel replied.
Royal doesn't tolerate whines or complaints. "Look I don't care what you do, get it done or I can get another agent on it at this instant"
Besteel was pissed. What the hell does this guy expect? Killing people are usually messy jobs. It takes preparation to make it a clean and painless action. He took it in and agreed.
As he left the meeting. He saw a man walk to the meeting room he was just in. The man looked like he just came out of a freezer. He'd better signal the esper before the streets have a nudist situation on their hands.

Tyro Concord
Mistworld-New Katmandu Spaceport
Scorching, in more than one way
****************************
Tyro waited in the tram terminal for the next manglev train to pass by. He waited inside the open-air terminal with four others. The four hovered around the heat emitter in their heavy clothing, shivering non-stop. Tyro sat on the bench four meters back in his long-sleve officers uniform, and was sweating. Serving in the Empress's Own had its toll on the human body, especially when the royal family travels to a deep space mining field and gets caught on the darkside of an asteroid. Contract requires the marines guarding the member of the royal family to give what is nessecary to ensure their survival--
--Even if it meant giving up your tempurature regulating combat uniform. Worse, since the family member must be guarded at all times, the Empress's Own marines didn't get to huddle together for warmth. As such, they had to stand out in -22 degree's celcius tempurature, drawing on what their muscles could do for them.
As such, what was Hell frozen over for these other folks was Hell and a heatstroke for Tyro. As he waited, Tyro held the end of the amulet which hung around his neck in his hand. The amulet was similar to one of the old medals awarded to soldiers, spicifically the infantry. The Distinguished Infantrymen medal was not the highest medal awarded to the Empress's Own marine units, but it was still a real bitch to get, and it was even harder to have the Empress herself hang it around your neck in a resignation ceremony. The gear like circlet with the twin assault rifles in a V like shape across it was asthetically pleasing to Tyro, its shining chrom covered steel represented his tour of duty in Steel Battalion. It was one of the only non essential, (although it was essential in his mind) item that Tyro brought with him to the rim planets. Tyro crould replay the battle he earned this in over and over again in his head or his implant but...he could feel the vibration of the tram's engines through the floor and shot to his feet at the sign of it. Tyro slid the medal back under his uniform as he walked towards the stop area.
The very sleek tram resembled the bullet trains of Old Earth, but unlike the bullet trains, trams never truely touched the rail, they were magnetically seperated from it by roughly six centimeters. The train slowed its speed as it approached the stop. The four other folks that were waiting at the stop followed close behind, which made Tyro weary. Being in the Empress's Own did that to a person. As the tram came to a halt at the terminal, its hydraulic doors slid open and Tyro climbed aboard, seeing as nobody was getting off, heading up the short set of stairs with hazard marks on them. At the top, Tyro paid his fee of two Galactic credits and headed to the back of the tram car. A few people glanced at him, including a relatively tall man with dark hair and brown eyes. Tyro took a seat four rows back. The four folks from the terminal took seats in between him and the man with dark hair.
After they took a seat, the automated tram closed its doors and began to accelerate, explaining their next stop, the Mistworld Council block, in roughly twelve different languages. The ride was short, roughly five standard minutes, but in those five minutes, they had travelled twelve kilometers. In this day and age, break throughs in Quantum Mechanics had made it easier to engineer high speed vehicles with systems that lower centrifugal force and thus reduced the amount of stress exerted on the human body at high speeds.
The train began to deccelerate as it approched the terminal, suspended roguhly twelve meters in the air by a long, vase like post that stretched to the snow covered ground beneath it. The terminal itself was covered in slush rather than snow and the stairs were just plain wet. Tyro lifted himself off the seat slowly and walked down the walkway to the open tram doors, he heard five other people get up as well, judging from the acoustics, they were the four folks from the terminal and the dark haired man. Tyro quickly stepped down from the train and onto the platform where twelve other people waited and headed for the stairs. Tyro reached into the right pocket of his cargo pants and pulled out a stick of gum and popped it in his mouth.
Behind him, Tyro heard the hastened steps of the four folks from the terminal, and the slower, much calmer steps of another. Tyro headed down the long flight of stairs to the snow covered chasm-like walkway between two large metallic business towers. Tyro didn'w know where he was going to go overall, but judging from the acousitcs of the muscle motions of these folks whom waited at the terminal with him, Tyro could tell they were up to no good an he needed an escape route...or a path of annihilation. Tyro chose the latter, based on the conscience from what he learned in his time with the Empress's Own.
Tyro observed his surroundings, judging from the building lay out, this area was full of tall structures, which all in turn meant that there were dark alley ways and by passes. The collection of buildings would also cause any sounds of a firefight, or people screaming in agony, to be forced upward along the path of least resistance. The ground was covered in snow, which could work for, or against Tyro in a fight with his weight in mind. Judging from what he already saw, the most passages were narrow, not long enough to give a group of four maximum manuverability to surround one opponent. Tyro tallied everything up and decided that obviously the numerical,a nd possibly fire power value was stacked against him, but the enviornment and features were on his side. Statistics concluded that a fight would be in his favor if he could find a narrow passsage way.
Tyro came up with all this in a split second, being just a normal marine, it would be helpful to have something on the lines of that speed, but the Empress's Own required it. The Empress's Own were no normal marines. Each member in the Regiment had a surgical neural interface implant embedded into their brains and was responsible for doing calculations and statistics that the brain alone could never hope to achieve. As such, in a battle that required fast, smart thinking, the odds were almost ALWAYS on the side of a member of the Regiment, and that was just the start.
Tyro took a right down a larger alley way, but that alley way had off-shoots where people could easily see what was going on. This was not a decent battlefield, which is why Tyro would continue on down it towards a narrower one. By the time Tyro reached another, narrower alley way with no holes, the sound of the fifth man were quiet as a whisper, yet the acousitcs told Tyro that he was still there, however, the other four were still close behind.
Tyro headed to the end of the closed off narrow passage way and waited at the end, while he calculated his battle plan, and looked around for useable objects. Tyro was in deep thought when he thought he heard something, a voice, come from behind him. Tyro, now awakened to reality, realized the footsteps had stopped...a few meters back. One of those four was trying to taunt him. Tyro ignored the first taunt, and the second, then he heard the footsteps of one person, apparently the taunter approaching him. Tyro dumped the battle-plan into his implant system and geared up his combat systems.
Tyro felt a hand drop onto his shoulder and pull backwards, Tyro whirled around willingly, only to see a nine cenitmeter fold out mono-filament blade come rushing towards his abdomen. His battle-plan had anticipated the attack and, with lightning speed, Tyro brought down a knife-hand strike onto the opponents right collar bone, shattering it and severing the nervous cord that connected to the deltoid. The opponets arm stopped moving, and Tyro proceeded to backfist the man in head and palm heel strike him in an upwards motion to the nose, forcing cartilage into the brain, effectively killing his opponent, but still not getting him out of the way. Using his right arm, shoulder and hips and grounding himself, Tyro quickly extended his right arm and shoved the body away from him were it proceeded to land on one of his other opponents, knocking them down. However, one of the opponents leaped over the other one and pulled a crowbar out of his coat. Battleplan anticipated the attack, but not at this speed. As such, BattleReflex Mode kicked in.
Battle Reflex Mode was a combat battle program inputed into the interface of only Empress's Own marines. Battle Reflex mode was a statistical program all in all, In AETP (Academy for Enhanced Training Procedures) it was taught that the combination of all the factors of a combat enviornment could be weighed into the outcome of a battle through a train of statistics. Based on these statistics, BattleReflex mode the easiest way to deal the maximum damage to the maximum number of opponents as fast as possible while at the same time conserving as much energy and keeping the body from taking as much damage as possible. As such, BattleReflex mode was a KILL! KILL! KILL! kind of combat program developed for fast reactions to save a member of the royal family from death.
Suprisingly enough, the military let veterans keep the program...and all the weapon systems input into the system for the most efficent use of those weapons. It also made the user move fast...very fast.
In what seemed like an eternity to Tyro, his crowbar weilding opponent fell throught the air as Tyro rushed to meet him. The crowbar began to descend, very slowly to Tyro. Tyro grabbed the assailant's right arm, which contained the crowbar, pulled his opponent to the ground and tucked the arm under his left armpit and braced the arm while his right arm smashed into the opponents rigid ellbow socket with a flat-fist hook punch that broke the arm in three different places at once. Before the opponent could realize what happened, or yelp in pain, Tyro had released the shattered arm and shoved his opponets chin up and crushed his opponents lerynx with a spear-hand to the throat. His opponent asphyxiated for a few seconds before he fell to the ground, but Tyro was long gone before then.
There was an error in the plan, the bottom line was that he was to keep all of his opponents within a 50 degree cone in front of him, one was nearly at an 80 degree angle to his right.
Well, no plan survives contact with the enemy... Tyro thought as he went to dispatch the last standing opponent (the last was still struggling to get his fallen comrades body off of him). The last standing opponent whipped out a straight blade, 1.5 meter long sword with a knuckle duster. Tyro didn't know how she (Tyro had determined from body features that this assailant was a woman in her 20's) managed to hide it under his coat, but he didn't have time to think. The opponet charged Tyro with the sword leveled down toward Tyro's gut. Tyro easily avoided the incoming weapon and sent a ring up to his opponents head with a powerful roundhouse kick. Tyro then twisted the sword in the hands of his bewildered opponet in such a way that her hands were caught in the knuckle duster and were visiously crippled in the winding metal of the duster. Her hands were now hideously crushed and hand-cuffed in the very device which was created to defend the users hands. This time, the assailant did have enough time to yelp in agony before Tyro brought around a palm-up hook to her temple, sending a system shock through her cerebral cortex and effectively causing enough damage to severely disable her involuntary muscle glands. Which thus caused her heart to stop beating.
Tyro now turned to face his last opponent, who was now standing and was just leveling down a disruptor pistol. However, Tyro was not unarmed. In the Empress's Own, weapons that could cause severe collatoral damage, such as disruptors, were not issued. Instead, they used ulta-advanced projectile weaponry. Gauss weaponry was a technology that was never really incorperated into the field armies because of the risk of capture by the enemy. They were issued to special forces operatives, and bodyguards. The Empress's Own were issued pistols, rifles and cannons of gauss basis. Each weapon shot their basic ammunition of steel coated ceramic beads, which usually contained a heavy core for armor penetration against heavily armored opponents. The weapons contained a set of heavily pre-charged magnets that repel energy off of each other to generate an extremly powerful electro-magnetic current. A polarizer then caused all the magnets to polarize, however, the ceramic beads were also polarized. This caused a massive repel that forced the ceramic bead out of the relatively short barrel of the weapon at hyper-velocity in an almost perfectly straight line at a muzzle velocity of nearly 25 kilometers a second. Each weapon had a different size of bead, pistols and rifles usually carried a 3mm ceramic bead although rifles would typically be upgraded to 9mm's. Cannons shot an 80mm bead that could smash through just about anything.
Tyro himself currently had a 3mm bead pistol, loaded with a 35 shot magazine in his right inside coat pocket. Tyro looked to see if he could dodge out of the way, but the wall was right next to him and the heat bloom would get him if he went to the right side instead, there was no escape. Now the only question was, could he reach his pistol in time. With great speed caused by BattleReflex and Fight or Flight syndrome that all humans had, Tyro's hand quickly found its way into his coat pocket and grabbed the handle of the pistol and began to pull it out...just as the disruptor was leveled at him and the trigger was slowly being depressed. Tyro knew the odds were against him now, and he had a slim chance of survival. Yet still he tried.
Suddenly, the opponents eyes widened and he choked. The disruptor dropped from his hand and the man fell to the ground. By this time Tyro could have long had the shot made. Behind the assailant was the dark haired, brown eyed man, weilding his bloodied sword with both hands. He had slashed the opponet deep, and had severed the spinal cord...and quite some bleeding. The man lowered his blade, and Tyro did his best to anticipate another possible attack. The dark haired man starred down the barrel of Tyro's leveld bead pistol, then sighed as he looked down at the slain opponent and said jokingly, "Oh, I'm sorry, was he your kill?"
Tyro thought for another split second, realizing that this man was armed, Tyro could tell he carried a disruptor. He could tell form his body structure that he had previous combat training and could be a threat to his life. However, this train of thought was de-railed by the thought that this man had just saved Tyro's life. As such, Tyro lowered his bead pistol and switched the safety back on.
"So, no hard feelings I guess?" the dark haired man said as he swished his blade through the air, flicking the blood off and onto the white snow and then proceeded to sheath his sword. Tyro put his bead pistol away, chuckled and said, "No, most certianly not, for a friend in need, is a friend in deed."
"Excellent, then allow me to introduce myself, I am Alec Ripper of Mistworld security forces." said Alec as he extended his hand towards Tyro.
Tyro gingerly reached his hand out to meet his and said, "Tyro Concord...just a casual traveller." as they shook hands.
"Heh, yeah, a former marine of the Regiment is some casual traveller," Alec said sacasticly. Alec then finished with, "Come, I have a job you may find interesting."

Right, who next?
---------------------
A Hadenman, an Imperial, and an esper, plus still on the list a few more espers and possibly a bounty hunter, they had told him not to worry too much about the bounty hunter, he might have his own things to do with regards to the operation.
"So, what exactly is this "operation" anyway?" asked Tyro
"From what I can gather its a raid on an imperial facility or something, the council didnt tell me any more, but apparently the empire has developed a new stardrive, totally different and many times more powerful than anything ever seen before, unfortunately, from what we can gather, which out here isnt all theat much, this has coincided with a new level of psychoticness from her imperial majesty."
"Well, what do you suggest be done about it?, its not like we can just tear down the empire and build it back up in a different way, the whole galaxy could fall into barbarism, and there are a LOT of alien species that have a grudge against humanity"
"Thats the bugger of course, I think everyone can agree that Lionstone needs to be replaced by another ruler, preferably a sane one of course, but if the fleet gets upgraded with this new drive, as long as the fleet are loyal there will never be any changes"
Then they were interrupted by the Hadenman Tyrone
"If my people had not been annihilated there would be no problem, these "starcruisers" were no match for our battleships then and they still would not be now"
"Yes, I am sure an army of augmented men would be a hell of a thing to have on our side"
"And would you trust them?" asked Hadrian
"A hell of a lot more than I would most Mistworlders, ah, here we are, our next 'recruit' should be just up ahead"

Blaze
Outer edge of the spaceport
Blaze had been sitting here for the past three days waiting for his target to show. He was cheating on his wife with some two bit hooker. Blaze hated cheaters. And the soon to be ex-wife had payed him well to make it look like an accident. Boy how he loved that word. Being out here in the cold made him feel good and got the muscles working. Ever since he could remember he had liked the cold. His parents realized what he was and started helping him hone his powers. He had learned to form things out of water and a variety of other things he would use later. His parents were murdered and that is how he came into the business of killing. He was shown it exactly two seconds before he showed it to someone else.
“So, you think Bob left the hut open?”
“He better have or we will freeze to death out here.”
“well that wont do now will it. I have to get back to my wife remember?”
“Yes dear I do. When are you going to get rid of her?”
“I thought we discussed this?”
“yes, you probably did, but why don’t you explain it to me too?’ said Blaze as the conversation they were having bored him to tears.
“Who are you?” said the man as the woman simply screamed.
“Who I am is not important. Your wife has known about your infidelity for a while now and has finally decided to put an end to it.”
“But surely I can pay you more.” Said the man who was clearly now shivering.
“No, you can’t. You made an oath to your wife and are surely lacking in better judgement. Look now and see your fate.
The man looked on as the woman began to turn blue. She screamed as her hands and fingers turned to a pale blue cooler and fell off from the frost burn. The rest of her turned solid blue and Blaze kicked her causing the woman to crumble.
He tried to run but his legs wouldn’t move. “What are you?” came the mans reply. Blaze said nmothing as he froze the man slowly, causing great pains in him.
After it was over Blaze waked away, called the woman and let her know of her ‘unfortunate’ widowed satus. he then hung up the phone and waited. “Well, Alec should be by here anytime looking for me shouldn’t he. That man always has a knack for finding people.” He made himself a lawn chair out of ice and waited. “hopefully they get here before the storm picks up. Gets kind of cold out here so I hear.” He sat down in his swim trunks, pulled out his drink and waited….
<occ. should do i guess. come find me I am waiting. lol of course I will go along you have a way of convincing me. :D

Mistport
Another wierd esper....
------------------
"Hello, Blaze" said Ripper from the shadows "A very impressive showing if I may say so"
"Hello Ripper, I have been expecting you" replied the esper, who was wearing swimshorts and drinking an iced drink.
"I know, you cant keep a secret in a city full of mind readers, not that the bloody council could anyway...." replied Ripper, a slight smile on his lips, it really had come as a shock when he had arrived on Mistworld that a large slice of the population could take whatever they wanted from your mind without any effort at all
"You will have to make whatever job it is worth my while" said Blaze coolly
"I thought I might, here's the basics, firstly I assume you will get a chance to kill lots of people, secondly, they will probably be Imperial troops, thirdly, you are getting bored making low-class hits around Mistport, and if I have read you correctly you want a higher calibre of murder.....what do you say?"
Ripper smiled, a sales pitch very few residents of Mistworld could resist, a chance to hit back at the empire that had consigned them to this hell-hole that wouldnt normally be classed as fit for human habitation without some serious terraforming.

Mistport
Oh you mean that drive.
*********************
"So, what do you know so far about this new stardrive mr. Ripper?" Tyro asked Alec as their little party went searching for their next recruit.
They were currently wandering Mistport in search of this next esper on the list who was due in on a flight from Willox II. So far, it seemed the flight was late.
"Not much I'm afraid, all I know is that it's new an its powerful and expensive." Alec replied.
"Do you know any spicifics on the system? What it's signature is, how many ionic particles per cell? Power requirements?"
"Umm...well I heard that the system itself has six exit nossles rather than the traditional Imperial four, and the power regulators require twelve capacitators. Or at least, thats what my data assistant says."
"Oh, you mean the Takion drive?" Tyro inquired.
Alec looked at Tyro suspicously and asked, "Wait, are you trying to tell me you know something about this new stardrive?"
"Well not much, the Royal Flotilla which is assigned to the Imperial Family has the latest technology from all around the Empire, including engines. I had a...relationship with the chief engineer on the Heir Teritary's personal cruiser, the Emerald Dawn. She told me that the drives were jsut a prototype, but they ran off of concentrated Takion arrays and thats just about all I remember of them." Tyro explained.
"So, the Imps are already using this stardrive?" Alec demanded.
"More or less, but as I said, the models on the Royal Floatilla are merely prototypes and they have some serious problems with them still. However, they are space fairing and can be installed on larger ship models very soon." Tyro answered.
"How soon is very soon?" Alec asked.
"Well, you know, soon by Imperial standards." Tyro said with a smirk.
"So...thats about another eight months." Alec replied jokingly.
"Yup."

Focus Darken, this can be done. Master Neruk mentaly said. That is what he always said, all Darken has to do is focus. That is not what Darken thought at this second though.
It is not focus I need, it is more energy. The flaming whirlwind in front of him barely spun, hardly consumed what Darken wanted it to. Then he felt the other minds touch his, everything became clear suddenly. The flames burned with enough heat to melt the target in mere seconds. Things started to become become a little fuzzier agian as the minds started to pull away.
Darkens anger grew more forcefull, and things once agian became clearer. and soon the walls to the room the flames where started to show signs of heat stress. The flames deid away as the rom grew instantly cold.
"All you need is to focus, in anger, or in complet control, it does not mater, just focus." Darken laughed at himself, finaly seeing the truth of what Master Neruk had been saying.
"Why did my flames die so quickly though?" Never had Darken seen his mind born flames die like that, and it was not something he wanted to happen agian, at least not while he was showing so much conttol over them for once.
"That would be because of me, Darken." his head turned to see one of the few cryogenic espers standing not to far away.
"Looks like you know more about me then I do you."
"He did that because I asked him too, and I askied him too because we need your help. We can talk more as we exit this plane."

John Besteel
Mistworld Suburbs
***
Besteel scanned the area. No pedestrians.
"Where is he?" He thought.
He waited for another 15 minutes. "Am I being screwed over?"
His instincts told him that he should stay, but he didn't know this dealer too well.
2 minutes later, Cracky finally arrived. A sleazy arms dealer, he was a short stout man with a full head of grey hair, and handsome features except they were masked by the fat he had accumulated through years of couchsitting. Some said he blamed the freightor ships that took so long to get his products to mistworld forcing him to eat obsessively. Some said he was a liar and nobody should even believe rumors about him.
Besteel waited until Cracky had entered the safehouse. "Why were you late and why should that matter compared to my business?
"Easy green eyes, I had to talk to some people to get this. So it took a little longer than I expected, nobody in mistworld has these do they?" Cracky replied.
"Shut up and let me see them. I got no time left" Besteel shot back.
Cracky revealed the prized commodity. It was a class 4 disruptive rifle. It was good for 20 kilometers but required 2 hours to recharge. Due to this it was highly unpopular. Getting one of these were hard because most were broken down to make shuttle doors.
Besteel looked at it hard and examined any defects. He had wanted one of these for a long time. To him it was a true killer's weapon. One shot was enough for any operation.
Besteel gave Cracky what he deserved.
Cracky was not pleased. "Hey! What is this? That's half of what we agreed on!
Besteel replied "You delivered late" and left in a swift manner.

Alec Ripper
On the way back to the council
Waitamoment...Whats a taikon array?
----------------
"Something's been troubling me for a while now Tyro, what the hell is a Takion array?" queryed Ripper
"Ah, well, basically, you know the power crystals in disrupters?, and computers?, well, the alien ship that the drive was taken from used crystal tech to power its stardrive, the different style of power crystal was termed a "Takion" crystal, and it runs off those, never needs recharging and provides a power output FAR greater than the conventional fusion powered drives."
"Never needs to refuel?, shit, thats even worse than I had expected, I knew it was powerful, but infinately long lasting?"
"It would still be no match for the great battleships of my people" spoke Tyrone
"Yes, but they all got wiped out, having a battle cry of "Death to humanity" made you lot rather unpopular last time around" said Ripper
"We were the next step up on the evolutionary ladder for humanity, you fought against your own destiny"
"Be that as it may, its in the past, and unless you know where to get one of those battleships I think its all rather academic"
"Hey, you lot, we are here in case you hadnt noticed" said Blaze.
He hadnt noticed. But they went in anyway.
They were waved through to the council chambers and arrived to find seats laid out at one end of the table for them.
"Sit down" said port director Steel "Now that you are in a secure location we can inform you of the plan"
"Secure? in a city full of telepaths? dont take the piss"
"I said secure...."
"The only way this place could be secure is if.....no, no way..."
"Yes, esp-blockers"
Almost instantly the espers were on their feet, looking very angry and like they were going to leap at the council and attack with their hands. Esp blockers, a living esper brain, stimulated by electric currents, to effectively put a block on all esp within a twenty yard radius, they were rather unpopular with the esper community, for obvious reasons.
"Sit back down, its only the one and he was a volunteer"
"Even so, to use such a thing....that is monstrous, part of the empire's ways to control our kind...." said Darken, still standing and glaring at director Steel.
"Yes, Humanity has always been afraid of those better than it is" Even without the voice it would have been easy to tell who that was.
"Look, Tyrone, we all know you are superior and every last one of us is shit scared of what you can do if you put your mind and tech to it, now do you want to kill imperials or not?"
"Dont push your luck little human" Said Tyrone, casually extending the barrel of his left disrupter and then retracting it again.
'Oh shit, dont piss him off any more Alec, dont piss him off', were roughly the thoughts running through his head at the time
"ANYWAY" said Steel, in a commanding tone of voice "You are here to make a series of strikes agains empire installations, followed, hopefully, by a sabotage of the new drive factory on Technos III, you will first hit an armoury on Madraguda and sieze some more weaponry, you will continue attacking empire fringe installations to lure the fleet out and force the empress to commit her forces to keeping her worlds safe, the fleet will thus be spread thin, hopefully, the lessened fleet density will embolden the various local undergrounds into making their own attacks. This will hopefully give the impression that the empress' iron grip is failing, and hopefully leave the galaxy ripe for a revolution."
The table launched from stunned silence to total uproar in just a few seconds
"Shit! you certainly dont think small do you? And how are we going to do this? We have a few hand weapons and the most powerful bloody ship on mistworld at the moment is a smugglers ship that was impounded a few days ago...AND IT HASNT GOT ANY GUNS!!!"
"Which is why we attatched the four heavy disrupter cannon from your pinnace onto it, along with its firing computers. and besides, you arnt going to be fighting a war, you will be making hit and run strikes. And, if you dont like it, steal yourself a fucking better one from the empire"

"You expect us to basically go against the whole Empire, a small team, and you're acting as if they don't have security systems. So if we do somehow get near a planet undetected, and even then through the atmosphere undetected, we're supposed to pull some quick strike significant enough to attract attention from the Empress herself. And this significant objective, as significant objects or places in the Empire are, should be fairly guarded. I say we'll be lucky to get out with everybody for the first and maybe second because I'm nice, but eventually the small numbers already in this team will go down to nothing."
Hadrien slammed his hand down.
"What the fuck! If I wanted to commit suicide, I'd pick up a regular disruptor and shoot my own face. Now, I'm reasonable, and in being reasonable I say we just attempt an assassination on the Empress herself. At least then we can be in the news."

Council Halls
A problem with the plan
*******************
"Mr. Steel, I don't think your considering the long term effects of bringing down the Empress. Even if we do succeed in breaching these other installations, we are going to have one hell of a time with an entire Regiment of the Empress's Own elite troops that are guarding the Empress at all times an--" Tyro began to say.
"I could take them all on!" exclaimed Tyrone.
"No you can't." Tyro replied quickly.
Tyrone glared at Tyro harshly and asked, "Excuse me? Do you even know what I am capable of? You can't make judgements like that!"
"Likewise, you obviously don't know a thing about the Regiment or what its capable of or what weapons they use. However, keep that thought in mind, were going to need it, because the only way to get to the Empress or any member of the royal family is to annihilate the entire Empress's Own and the Royal Floatilla. Now let me finish damnit!" Tyro explained.
Tyro cleared his throat and then continued, "Even if we do bring down the Empress, we also have to have a contingency plan to make sure a more reliable person is put in power otherwise, as you said, the Empire will all into the darkness of a civil war."
"Isn't that what were aiming for?" Mr. Steel inquired.
"Sure, but have you considered what this civil war will do to Mistworld?" Tyro asked.
Mr. Steel raised an eyebrow in puzzlement.
Tyro gestured with his hand around the room and said, "This planet is an ice world, you can't have a vast amount of agricultural production on an ice world, or industry for that matter. With the empire in the mist of a civil war, the military takes control and concentrates all production strictly for the military and the core worlds. Outer worlds are abandoned and left to fend for themselves, and millions die from this course of action because there is little or no production capacity on the outskirts. Many will die on this planet unless you dispatch a...salvation army of sorts to go get sustanence for the populace."
EDIT:
"Well, that can all be arranged within a due amount of time. Our food storages on this planet are sufficent enough to withstand several standard months of besieging, so we can arrange a kind of retrieval force to get supplies for Mistworld." replied director Steel.
"Ah, but have you considered the effect the military will have on an unarmed force? If a revolution does break out, it is unlikely that a large portion of the Imperial Navy will mutiny, possibly one or two fleets, but those one or two fleets will be up against two dozen other well armed fleets, not to mention the Royal Floatilla. The Imperial fleet is imfamous for putting out revolts will brutal efficency and can easily put down planetary revolutions. Also, with the lack of communication between planets since comm stations are solely utilized by the Imperial Navy and the Imperial Marine Corps, it is unlikely that revolutionaries will have steady contact during an uprising. This will lead to a massive loss of life and most likely the failure of a rebellion. With the Empress either dead or simply no longer in power, the military will use the weak links embedded in the higher ups to gain power. Within possibly days, the military will have direct control over the Empire. They can then send expiditionary forces to attack supply convoys headed to this planet since they will most likely implement the Takion drive system onto their starships." explained Tyro.
"We have secure communications channels, we can contact revolutionaries when we need to. Also, we can arm our supply convoys if need be, if we strap enough weapons to ships we can give them a bloody nose and send them packing." Director Steel replied.
"You obviously haven't been observing changes in the Imperial Navy that much have you? The Imps don't just have new engines, they've got new designs and tactics too. One of these designs is a cruiser capable of long range torpedo barrages of planets. By long range I mean nearly a lightyears distance...outside the reach of the esper field around this planet. Sure, you can hold them off for a while, but when hundreds of these ships group and barrage for days on end, no barrier can withstand that kind of force. Also, these torpedos, as I've heard, arn't normal, they can...teleport in a sort of fassion towards their target and constantly make jumps over and over again until they reach their target. You never heard of the Demios incident did you?" Tyro inquired.
"Tyro, is there any good news you can provide us with?" Alec asked, seeming agitated.
Tyro rubbed his chin and thought for a moment before coming up with something and said, "Well...maybe there is one bit of good news. The Terran Empire is at war right now with the Cervarzan Concordiat in the Damacoles Gulf and most of the Imperial Navy is occupied there, not to mention a large contingent of the Marine Corps. There for, security is spread thin throughout the Empire, now would be a good time to insert agents into the Core planets. However, we must be hasty about it, the war is almost over, we have only a few months before the Cervarzan Concordiat is annihilated."
"How do you propose we deal with the Empress if a revolution seems to be so devestating to the rim worlds?" Director Steel asked.
"I don't know the answer to that yet Mr.Steel, or at least not a good one. We are going to have to make that one up as we go." Tyro concluded.

Tyrone, having been denied his birthright to be a hardass to everyone, simply lifted his nose and looked away.
He paid no mind to the others in the group, they were just going to slow him down. He looked tentatively at the Council, though, and felt a deep desire to kill them all. He certainly could do it, though he might have trouble against the imperial. Tyrone's knowledge of the Empire was dated. Very dated. He never cared to take notes of them after his defeat, and was quite content to freeze his arse off on Mistworld.
He exposed both disruptors, to the dismay of a few of the councilmen. You don't usually see a Hadenman expose his disruptors and expect to live, but Tyrone was meerly inspecting his for any foreign objects in the barrels.
Once he was sure the barrels were clean, and leaned against the wall and said nothing. He was going to soak in any information they had to give out, process it, and then figure out ways to discard these simpletons and destroy the Empire.

Darken sat and absorbed what was being said. "You know what, I belive it can be done. Look what is being done here on Mistworld. With all of us espers, the empire wont come out here, we could destroy a ship before they know what hits them. I know that we don't have alot of espers going, but we can still do it." Darken went to link his mind with the other espers of the room to explain to them his plan.
The esp-block stopped that. Memories of the empire flooded into his mind. He had forgotten about the horror the empire put espers through, to much for his mind to take right now. He fell onto the floor and let the blackness over take him.

I take it that this is an unpopular plan?
----------------------
Alec picked the unconscious esper off the floor and sat him back down, he didnt look like waking up, but the floors in Mistport were a bad place to lie....even in here.
"Right, will everyone just calm down? And blaze, dont blow up esp-blockers, it only means that the buggers will have to 'borrow' the head of some other poor bastard, now then, we have established that not only is the empress protected by a fleet of six of the new E-Class starcruisers, even if they are prototypes, a regiment of elite troops and god knows how many regiments of the normal army. BUT she is also in the imperial palace remember? Two miles down and with more booby traps than something with a lot of booby traps. added to that, the only way to the court or her chambers is via the trains, which can be filled with nerve gas in an instant. I think we can safely assume that hitting the empress is out of the question." He then said
"Well, so is hitting heavily guarded empire installations, why dont we just sail into the bloody darkvoid and be done with it?" enquired Tyro
The darkvoid was a huge aree of space that had been effectively destroyed nine hundred years ago by the ultimte weapon, the darkvoid device. A thousand stars extinguished in a moment, a massive area of total blackness. Ships went missing out there, and no ship had ever crossed it from one side to the other.
"Hang on, no one said we had to choose heavily defended installations, in fact, I would say that that would defeat the point, we want to hit weaker installations so that the empire must spend more money fortifying the usually unimportant places or lose face before the populace, plus of course, I would wager the odds of surviving a direct assault on Golgotha are slightly better than of surviving a typical saturday night in Mistport."
There were a few smiles at that, but they quickly vanished.
"But come on! we are a few espers, a partially functioning Hadenman and two ex-marines for crying out loud, all the bases will have either battle espers or esp-blockers so half of us are bloody redundant for most of the attacks, we might be able to take one or two of the battle espers, but the blockers we cant do shit about until we find them, and I know the Hadenman is fast, but all it takes is one lucky disrupter shot and he will be as dead as anyone else" Shouted Blaze
"Yes, BUT by the same token, all it takes is one lucky shot from one of us and an Imp will be as dead as anyone else. Besides, after we hit the armoury we will A) hopefully have some energy crystals that Tyrone can plug into wherever it is he plugs things and get some of his more advanced implants back online, AND B) we will hopefully have disrupter cannon and some full body sheilds and rebreathers. Which will mean it takes ten lucky shots for them, but one from us will flatten several imperials. And, just think of all the loot, do you know how much empire tech sells for on this godforsaken rock?"
That last point really got everyone thinking, given the rarity of high tech on Mistworld, a basic data crystal was more valuble than gold, and as for weaponry....The council would pay a medium sized fortune to beef up thir anti-space defences.
"So, come on, what say we give it a try? Better than dying slowly of frostbite on this bloody place, plus it might be a laugh, just imagine Lionstone's face when she hears just who it is taking out her outposts"
He grinned, he was in, now all that remained was to convince the others...and keep an eye on that bloody Hadenman, if he didnt have a hidden agenda then Alec would personally club himself in the testicles with a half brick.

Tyrone listened intently to what Alec had said, especially about the power crystals... Tyrone began to imagine his power then...
He could destroy so many humans, possibly take on an entire Imperial ship's crew if he was smart about it... and he could drop these espers and ex-marines like flies.
Tyrone started to chuckle... which turned into a cackle, to the dismay of just about everyone. The Hadenman noticed this, and stopped, and looked the other way in embarassment. Not that he cared about what they thought, he just didn't like to laugh in front of his eventual victims.
"So... Alec, when do we leave?" the Hadenman asked, with a great desire to change the subject.
(OOC) In this RP I'm going to try and RP in the first person, so wish me luck. Now, meet my Psychic salesman. :P
Name: Ethan Zander
Description: Ethan is about 5'3'' and with dark (almost black) eyes and green dyed hair that rests slicked back and covered by a black wide-brimmed Fedora. He wears white insolated pants with many pockets with a matching thick white jacket that never seems thick enough. He has thick black gloves on with metal rings around his wrists. He also wears a silver earing on his left ear.
Class/Race: Esper Telepathic (The basic tapping into peoples minds, makin' 'em do stuff 'n' stuff.)
Age: 26
Backround: Ethan was born on mistworld and has always hated the cold. From childhood Ethan always got what he wanted, toys, food, clothes anything he needed. His friends called him spoiled, he knew otherwise. He realised early on that his non-psychic parents were easily molded to his will and he took advantage of this to the greatest extent.
Ethan made his parents hire a teacher for him to hone his skills, so they did. His trainer knew what Ethan was doing and actually encouraged him to continue doing so, it was "good practice". His mentor became more like a father then anything else, teaching him, spending time with him and just looking out for him. Eventually Ethan's teacher sent him out into the world on his own, he had learned to use his powers and was ready for anything.
Ethan did what he wanted… he stole stuff for cash, he manipulated those weak of mind to do his bidding and even got a hold of an old 'burst-fire' projectile weapon. (a rifle weapon that fires in three shot bursts. 24 bullets per clip) Realising that he could now bend weaker psychics Ethan opened a shop and 'convinced' shoppers to buy for more and sell for less. Now fairly wealthy Ethan is of fair skill with his sword (a very sharp sword that is light and meant for stabbing and slicing) and "okay" aim with his rifle.
Possibly anything else: In a fight Ethan will make his opponent think that he's where he isn't and/or make them not want to fight back. He likes to go by 'Zander' instead of Ethan.

Tyrone was still curious about the newcomer, however... this one had the ability to read minds... he'd have to die first, either by "accident" or "friendly" fire. All conversations stopped and heads snapped towards the new coming Esper as he stormed into the room. It seemed Darken wasn't going to be concious for the rest of the conversation, he could get the scoop later from the recording on Tyro's interface. that Tyro had no idea why he was simply let in. He was upset with the security of this facility.
Heh, they spend hundres of credits to keep espers from talking to eachother yet they don't even have enough security to keep one from walking in the front door and punching you in the face. Tyro thought.
"To introduce myself, my name is Ethan Zander. I am a telepath of great experience and I'm here to lend my services. If we are to succesfully infiltrate an imperial outpost I suggest we try a stealther approach to gain entrance. Getting blown away by automated defences isn't a way I'd like to die." he said.
"The imperial defences will be useless, once I regain my full power. However, mortal, as much as I hate to say it, I have to agree with you. A Hadenman at half-power is nothing compared to one at full." Tyrone responded, and look back at the others.
"Plus, to add to that, I know all the ins and outs of the Imperial automated defense matrix, I can shut it down easily. I'm more worried about mobile forces than emplacements. I said a large contingent of the Marine Corps was away at war, but that still leaves tens of billions of troops left in the Empire, including the Armored Brigades. The Armored Brigades have, of course, vehicles, but these vehicles have something called NuChrome Carbon Weave Reflective Armor, or simply NuChrome, that reflects disruptor blasts back towards the assaulters. Not to mention most of the Armored units, esspecially the war-striders, have pulse-disruptors capable of firing once every 15 milliseconds and those were the old models."
"So how do you suggest we fight them Mr. Know it all?" Tyrone taunted.
Tyro shot right back, "Well Mr. Primitive, first, we need to get you those power crystals, you will need to charge your disruptors to the maximum setting possible, which is one thing I know about the Hadenmen project, so you can melt the NuChrome armor, or at least weaken it enough for the rest of us to bring hell down on them,"
Although I don't trust your intentions of what you will do with the crystals AFTER the battles...
"Or, we can use projectile weapons or lazguns to punch through the armor." Tyro finished.
"Lazguns?" Alec asked.
"Well really they don't shoot lasers at all, they fire concentrated streams of super heated plasma. The heat form the plasma in the epicenter of the effected area is some incredibly high number of degrees celcius, something around 400,000,000 which can melt through anything I know of. The heat bloom from the weapon is also massive, it projects in a cone and for every meter along the beam the heat bloom travels, it also extends perpendicular a meter and a half. The heat bloom is significantly less dangerous and can merely cause 3rd degree burns but that should definately be enough to incapacitate infantry escorts."
Some of the council members were starring at Tyro all wide eyed, the others didn't seem too suprised, but were curious to an extent.
"What is a lazgun powered by? How long does it take to recharge?" asked Director Steel.
"Lazguns don't operate the same way disruptors do, they are powered by fusion cells that hold enough capacity for a good ten to 18 bursts of plasma, or at least thats what the latest model had in store. On the recharge part, lazguns don't to recharge they just need a stead supply of fusion cells. Its a magazine function ammunition." explaied Tyro.
"Why don't we just skip all the other weapons and crystals and stick with plasma?" suggested Blaze.
"No." Both Tyro and Tyrone said simultaneously.
"First off, we need to get Tyrone those crystals because it will make our time much easier if we have to face off the Empress's Own directly. Second off, you never let me explain the downsides to the lazguns. When using a lazgun, you are basiclly firing off a a small star in a beam form. It is very very difficulty to contain the energy of a small star without a Discion Sphere. As such, the lazgun has over 500 moving parts that have to work together just right to make the weapon function. The weapon has multiple safety emmiters to prevent dreadful accidents, but these safety valves arn't as efficent as the designers expected them to be. If plasma leaks through the capacitator coils and breaks through the magnetic field and manages to get through the safety systems, it will recoil multiple times off the power pack..." Tyro paused, hoping the point got through...he was wrong.
"...and?" demanded Director Steel.
"...and the user finds himself holding a gun that has now turned itself into a small nuclear weapon." Tyro concluded.
Tyro glanced at Tyrone once again, judging from his body language, he was thinking, thinking with that devious mind of his. Tyro didn't need to think to know what he was thinking of.

He hoped to god that Tyrone didnt have augmented hearing as well.
"We may as well go now, the sooner we get some firepower the better, although I for one will be sticking with what I know, at least disrupters dont blow up."
There were mumbled degrees of assent and the group left for the starport, followed at a safe (ish) distance by the council.
When they got there Alec was most emphatically not amused.
"THAT is our ship?" he demanded "How the hell did you find a smuggler with a stardrive that old? these guys depend on speed, that things got a C-Class drive for fucks sake!"
It was an old one fifty foot thing, short squat and defiantly ugly, the looks were not helped by the way the Pinnace's disrupters had been crudely welded into position, they could still rotate of course, but the mountings were horrendous, and they were all mounted on the top of the ship, it had a blind spot bigger than a tank with no viewports. And it had a drive that was obsolete at the start of the century.
"Look" replied Donald Royal "Its the best we could do, at least its got some guns"
"Four, FOUR disrupter cannon, Imperial D-Class starcruisers have two hundred and fifty, and a fair few pleasure yachts have more than FOUR!"
"Oh come on, what are the chances that a backwater world with nothing but a fifty man garrison will have a bloody starcruiser orbiting it?"
"Nil, but Frigates have more firepower than this, and better stealth running, and are faster, look, Hit and Run raids require the ship in question to be able to run for crying out loud!" he almost screamed. "Oh to hell with it, lets just hope they dont have many defences, it will take fleet at least eight hours to get there upon the distress signal going out, and we SHOULD be able to be back in hyperspace within four......besides, if the opportunity arises we can always steal a better ship."

Stay away from the hadenman… far away

I talked to the Cryo' for a bit, crazy fellow he is. But I wasn't in a position to choose my team-mates so I didn't care. And plus what kind of team can you expect from a run down ball of ice in the ass-end of nowhere!?
We reached the starport and I saw the ship; All I can say is that it was the ugliest god forsaken thing that was ever fit for space, an artifact of an engine, only four cannons that didn't swivel properly and it smelt strangly like death. "So," I started, "are we gunna board the S.S. Hurse and leave or not? I myself would rather get to whatever rock we're hitting so that we can at least get more weapons." "Any other pessimistic facts you would like to provide us with Tyro?" Alec asked sarcastically.
"Well...if you would like to know, half of the outer hull is buckled and the anti-radiation platting is faulty in three compartments. Including starboard engineering, anybody who goes in there gets an hour off their life for every second they spend in there."

"Well, I do know somewhat how to fly something like this, but you would have to plug me into the computer as well. On top of that, I always did hate flying. So I guess Tyrone just got the job." Tyro explained.
"Oh joy." Came the pessimistic reply.
After a quick tour of the ship, the group made their way to the rear of the ship under the engines where the main cargo bay was located. Not suprisingly, the electronics were so faulty that it took nearly a minute for the door to actually begin to open after they accessed the controls. Also not suprisingly, the oils on the hydraulics rails were a little dry and so the door opened in more a cluncky fassion than a smooth opening. All in all though, they eventually began moving supplies into the cargo bay, which reeked of rotting flesh. Or at least enough supplies to survive out in deep space...not to mention a few vacuum suits. Tyro still didn't like the vacuum suits they were provided, they were of crude quality and had only 6mm plexiglass panes rather than the imperial 8mm PlazSteel panes. It was a scary thought, 6mm of undergrade material was the only thing seperating a human body from the dangers of the outer space.
After all the supplies were loaded, they began to run backup checks on all the essential systems for the ship. Half of which weren't working properly. Each crew member was assigned a certian task by Alec to conduct repairs to the ship. Tyro was unfortunate enough to be dealing with the malfunctioning display lighting conduits. Currently, he was lying belly up on a roller cart, under a two foot tall bulkhead trying to repair an electricity relay with a mere shoulder light for illumination...and the wrong tools.
"Come on, get in there you stubborn son a bitch!" Tyro yelled at the rusty clamp he was trying to get on the conduit.
The clamp wouldn't fit passed the two sets of other coundits in the way of the damaged one. So Tyro decided it would be better just to punch in between the two conduits rather than finding a way through them. It worked...but with the now, horribly displaced other conduits, Tyro wondered if it was really worth the trouble. Of course, now that he got the clamp passed the other conduits, he wondered if he could get it around the conduit.
"Ergh, god damn pocking bastard!" Tyro yelled at the clamp again, and continued cursing at it until he got it around the left part of the conduit.
Tyro then reached outside the bulkhead space for the polymorphic wire sealant. Which was probably the most advanced peice of technology, besides Tyrone's cybernetics that is, that they had on the ship. However, to Tyro's dismay, he could not find the polymorphic wire sealant coil.
Tyro rolled his eyes and cursed under his breath...it was hard enough for him to get under here. Just as Tyro was about to push the roller out to and get his sealant, he heard footsteps coming in his direction, it sounded like they would go right by him.
Tyro extended his left hand and demanded, "Hey, you out there. Pass me the wire sealant please, it should be near by my-"
Tyro stopped when he felt a small metal object drop into his left palm. He quickly closed his hand and brought the object back in and observed what it was. It was the sealant coil alright and Tyro thanked the person, whomever it was.
It was hard enough to get the clamp onto the conduit, Tyro never expected a peice of polymorphic technology to be even more difficult than rigid objects. It took a few minutes before the copper-flowmetal alloy formed itself, with the help of pressure from Tyro's right hand, around the wires. With the sealant now in place, Tyro opened the test panel under the bulkhead and pressed the red button. The conduits gave off a pleasing whir of electricity as they came online. Shortly there after, they gave off a very displeasing electrical arch which jumped to Tyro's left index finger.
Tyro shook his hand vigorusly, the shock really hurt, and some of his flesh was damaged from the shock. Tyro then though to himself, Shit man, were not even off the ground yet and I STILL hate flying!

Tyrone Lockheed
SS Hurse
I hate complainging humans;)
******************
Tyrone was the first onboard, and the first to see how shitty this thing really was.
"You have got to be kidding me..." Tyrone said to himself, quietly and went into the rank-smelling cargo bay for some odd reason.
"Someone get the Lysol..." Tyrone thought to himself, and moved on to the cockpit.
As he was passing by the electric conduit control room, he heard the tendent say something about a polymorphic wire sealant coil. Well, it just so happened that Tyrone had one on him, so he gave the man's groping hand what it desired.
"Thanks" came the reply, and Tyrone continued on.
There he was, standing in this piss-hole's poor excuse for a driver's seat. The controls looked like they'd been sledged, the panels were open, and some of the wires were sparking. The seat had torn leather on it that stank of ass and one of the armrests was gone.
Tyrone decided to turn off his scent receptors and to plug himself in. Drawing power from his right disruptor, which was still faulty, he managed to get the ship's repulsor lifts working, though it'd be a LONG trip if the engines failed, which was likely.
Since Tyrone didn't have to eat, and he was pretty much ageless, it was a question of how long the momentum would carry it, if the fuel ran out. Of course, if the Empire had anything to say about it, Tyrone would be dead, either by being crushed into space dust or being blown into space dust.

BLaze
Feeling evil
-------
Blaze had quite enough of the two dimwits arguments, and then this piece of krap they had tp fly wasnt making his mood any better. He had crawled into the cockpit with Tyrone when he looked out of the windows to see a supply ship of the same general size as this one. ( he really didn't know squat about ships, nor did he care. ) "So Tyrone is it?" "Hurmph." came the reply. "Think you can fly a supply shipp any better than this one?" "well, probably. why?" "Because a supply ship of unknown origin has just been delivere4d to us." Blaze got up and walked toward the exit. "Let me go talk to our new members." Without not much of a thought tyrone said have fun and went back to cursing out wires. After a breef time and thinking about what a nutcase murdering madman had just said he looked on in horror. The ship landed and the crew came out. Blaze had walked up to them and was talking. He found the external mics and cued them up to listen.
... SO what you are saying is you get to pick up more cargo and deliver it to the space ports of the federation without much bother?
Yes, now move on boy, or my security force is gonna have to move you for me.
~I don't think I am going to leave my ship alone, you see I have grown attached to it now.
You what? Guards!!!
Two guards came running out of the ship with disruptor riffles drawn. pointed right at Blaze
~Now that is certainly no way to meet your new boss.
Blaze looed at them both and they dropped dead. One of them did however get of a shot hitting the rust bucket aquired for us and leaving one very pissed of Alex who had just exited the ship to find out what the fuss was about. "Blaze what the hell are you doing? O shit." Alex noticed it was incredibly cold out here and various people were now dead. "O nothing. I was wondering to myself how good our fortunes were that the commander gave us this ship just before he had a heart attack and died. The look on the captain he was just talking to did suggest he had suffed a cardiac arrest. "I need to sit down now, please do enjoy."
<occ> mad men have all the fun. enjoy and please don't kill me. It seemed to add to the RP let me know if I am wrong. <:D>
Alec Ripper
The Landing Pads
Did you just kill those people?
---------------------
"Did you just kill the entire crew of that freighter?" Alec asked with a sigh.
"Erm....Yes, why?"
"That freighter that regularly brings much needed supplies to Mistworld, risking atomization by the Imperial fleet if it gets discovered?"
"Erm...Yes"
"I thought so. Bugger" said Alec, resigned. "Okay, its in slightly better shape than this one and at least has some guns that I would trust for more than one shot apeice, now grab the rest of our mob from the other ship and get them over here before Port Security realizes what we have done and A) turns up with a few hundred guards and espers and B) Puts a massive bounty on all our heads, or worse, the bloody Investigator shows up."
"Why me?"
"Because you are the one that just alienated the only world that would give us sanctuary, and NOW we have to overthrow the empire one way or the other.....theres nowhere safe for us any more......"
The new ship WAS in better shape, and had a D-Class drive, plus eight disrupter cannon. Still no match for even a gravity barge let alone an Imperial starship, but it was faster.
"Come on!, the nutjob esper just signed our death warrants, get on board and lets go! We have an Empire to overthrow!"
They all strapped themselves into the Crash webbing as Tyrone interfaced with the ships systems and they took off, screaming for the stratosphere at a speed that would have torn apart the "Hurse".
"Right, according to the plan of action our first target is Loki V, but I think we cant afford to stick to the plan any more. But there is a new colony on Wolf IV, Populated mainly by archaeologists digging up alien remains, but it has a few small Imperial bases. We may as well hit one of those, any questions or objections?"

Tyro Concord
S.S New ship that we haven't named yet
Your shitting me right?
*******************
Tyro had just gotten done with all of the required repairs when Alec told them they were moving onto a new ship that Blaze had just...killed the entire crew of without second thought to what it would do to the team. Once the Mistworld authorities found out about it, the group would surely be exiled from the planet. Well, it was a scuicide mission anyway, most of them probably weren't going to come back undamaged. However, Tyro was pissed off about something completely different at the moment. Tyro and Alec were discussing the new ship as they waited outside while the cargo doors of the Hurse, once again slowly clanked open.
"A new ship?" Tyro asked shocked.
"Yup, it smells better too apparently, and its power grid is actually working as well its also got eight disrup-" Alec began to explain.
"ARE YOU FRIGGIN' TELLING ME THAT I GOT ELECTRICUTED FOR NOTHING!?" Tyro demanded.
"No not really, hey at least if this ship doesn't work for whatever reason, we could always resort to the old one."
"Oh ya, that makes me feel better, I can get electricuted over and over again as I have to continuously have to repair-"
"It's got a D-Class stardrive."
"...oh. Well lets get this crap moved out then."
Comparatively, D-Class stardrives were a quantum leap in technology over the C-Class stardrives, unlike the E-Class comparatively to the D-Class which was simply a change in the armor plating. C-Class stardrives could hold enough power to make a 10-Lightyear jump every six hours. D-Class stardrives could hold enough power to make a 14-Lightyear jump every three hours and the conventional drives were much faster, hyper-velocity to be spicific. They were also bloody expensive and hard to acquired outside of the Navy. However, they were easy to maintain and didn't need have their fusion cells recharged as often. They were also rugged, and could take quite a beating, comparatively that is, before they needed to be repaired.
As such, the whole crew began shifting the supplies over to the new ship, which had hydraulics and electronics that actually worked, and began flight preparations for take off. One of the best things about this ship is that it had a full compliment of radiation plating, and spares if the plating was damaged. Within a short few minutes, they had the ship airborne, and Alec called them all to the bridge to discuss their attack plans.
"I have a suggestion, if we are going to attack Wolf IV I recommend we land on the northern hemisphere of the planet and avoid the largest continent." Tyro said.
"Oh and why is that?" Alec asked.
"Wolf IV isn't just a backwater outpost of any kind, its got an Imperial long range communications Flux Relay generator. A device made to send messages at high speeds through the cosmos. As such, the planet is defended from attack from space forces by a MkXVIII Yamaha Industries Class 4 Anti-Orbital Cannon. It is located on the largest continent in the southern hemisphere...where the communications outpost is also located."
"Then shouldn't we take out the outpost and the cannon after were on the ground?" Blaze suggested.
"Oh believe me we certainly should, but we can't just land next to it, were going to have to march halfway accross the planet to it, although I'm sure we can acquire a few atmospheric shuttles to take us overland to get there."
"Why don't we just fly the ship there once were in the atmosphere where the anti-orbital can't get us?" Blaze asked.
Tyro stared at Blaze harshly for a second before saying, "This is a Class-2 Civilian Cargo Freighter not an Imperial Assault Ship, they have a 3-D radar array there, they could see us from hundreds of kilometers away if we did that," Tyro paused and pointed at the map they had of the planet like he was looking for something. He then pointed at a first location and continued with, "We could land the ship on the banks of Polar sea and head southwest for about one-hundred kilometers with the ground vehicles to this little town here. Then we can head on foot twenty kilometers west over rough terrain," Tyro then indicated the base location as he point at the map, "and attack that base, it's lightly defended and it should be a peice of cake. Its minimal Imperial standard garrison since the war broke out with the Concordiat, meaning it has only about 75 green unit soldiers," Tyro looked at the Hadenman who was standing back from the table with his arms crossed, "Is that enough blood for you for right now Tyrone?"
"No."<
