Ha, the RIAA and the like can't pin anything on Kazaa. Not without cheating the system at least.

The sad thing is there's allways more Kazzaa's out there...Bittorrent, grogster and other programs, plus the big fish are those at the FTP sites. Riaa will never win.

Oh trust me they know, Riaa has bots all over mirc

Well I think Winmx could be the next big thing because its network was always alright plus you don’t need a hacked version to get rid of spyware as it spyware free already.

I tried Bittorront and I like it, but the problem it’s not your traditional p2p program. Also don’t work very well with 56kers as you download is pretty much caped by your upload. I agree with the fact RIAA will never win, the only way they can stop it is if the government becomes more involved

Well to be honest that’s an old argument that no longer works. Itunes and Napster offer to download mp3’s rather cheap ( for there standards anyway) I know a site cheaper but its Russian and I not really sure if it’s legal for North Americans to have them or not, but it’s like 30 cents an album:) The problem with Napster and the like though is it only has popular stuff on there, and the fact I hate giving money to the recorded companies

That idea of "downloading a song for 99 cents" really doesn't cut it in my books, it's expensive. I will purchase cd's and games, but not a cd where 18 songs are crap and 1 is good.

OY VEH!! 99 cents is a terrible price to pay just to get one song,

True I have not bought a CD in over a year working on two. Last Cd I bought was STAIND break the cycle. If the record company wants to increase profits I suggest they tell there artist to make better songs, because if they expect us to pay 20 bucks for a few god songs they nut
Napster and the like could be cheaper and should be but its really not that bad

Basically when I hear that song over and over on the radio daily. Every hour pretty much, but I still buy a good cd when there's ones out there :)

I will purchase cd's and games, but not a cd where 18 songs are crap and 1 is good. How is that expensive? When you buy a CD in the store you're usually paying more than $1/song. For example, take Amazon.com's top seller right now - Norah Jones' new album. The MSRP is ~$19, and it has 13 songs. That's $1.46/song, so 99 cents is a pretty good deal, isn't it? Of course, Amazon.com's price is a lot less than the MSRP, but it's still more than $1/song. You also complain about only one song being good on a typical album and the rest being filler, but that's an argument FOR downloading a song for 99 cents - just download the one you want and pay 99 cents instead of paying almost $20 for the whole album!

You make a good point but it's not always going to work that way. And plus there are many other record stores that sell for much cheaper than anything at FYE, Amazon, Bestbuy, etc. If i'm gonna buy music i'd rather get the official copy at a store than pay to download it.

Hooray for soulseek

it is expensive to me because well, like dunchy said, you hear it over and over on the radio.

and they don't have any music i am really into, plus I don't have 99 cents ^^

Well if your rationale is that you can hear it on the radio for free then 1 cent would be expensive, so your argument is pointless. If you're actually going to BUY music, 99 cents per song is not expensive.

I have to disagree if the song was one cent, I think I would download it, 99 cents and 1 cent is quite a difference.

yah. mirc is where it all started. and i dont even think the riaa even knows about mirc~MIRC, Hotline, FTP, Bulletin Board... All predates these popular file sharing programs. RIAA of course knows about these programs, but harder to take down. It is up to the user to host the files and tell the location. You take that host down, another one forms.

I would buy CDs more often but they're way overpriced and there's no real way to preview the other songs on the CD before you purchase (atleast here in my hick town of Canada). So what usually happens is you bring the CD home load it up and find that it's 12 songs of complete crap and 1 good song that you get bored of after listening to for 30 mins on repeat.

Why would you ever pay $0.99 to download a song when you can download it for free. By the way, I think downloading MP3's right now is currently legal in Canada, although uploading is not.

Not that I've heard. :D Is it big enough to warrant attention? Kazaa seems to be the main focus now, but when they find that Kazaa is impenetrable, they will probably shift attention to smaller groups because they're so mean and evil.
