View Full Version : Units that nobody use, really make a difference
In this thread i would like to talk about peoples experiences in games where u or an oppenant uses or masses lol to win
My experience was in a 2v2, i was NE i went Hunts and Chims, My allie was Orc and he had AA, with some casters.
My enemy was Human and Undead, the human went Morts and Flying Machines and the Undead went Necs and Fiends.
We lost horribly (this was a while ago so i am better lol )
The human player just ate my army and the funny and smart thing was that he used Flying Machines and they worked.
In a 1v1 i had V an Undead, i was Human near the end of the game i had Priests and sorcs, the enemy had fiends and destroyers, so i got some Flying Machines and they smashed the destroyers.
So tell me of ur experience
It looks like (I'm not sure what AA stands for, so it could be) you didn't have very good anti-air. A few Hippos could have helped there, however you probably know that.
Most of my losses have either been (a) rushed attacked (so annoying!! ) (b) Being outmicroed. One time when it was NE vs NE, I went bears and dyrads, and my opponent massed ancient-protectors, and had a few units of different types, but eventually took over all the gold mines in the map. I wasn't really thinking enough to change to mass anti-building units, so he won that way.
Its true that you should adjust your strategy if your enemy is making units that counter yours.
lol yeah, that game was a long time ago
I wrote it down because i have never seen or used myself flying machines in any strats.
Did you know that flying machines have truesight as a passive spell
(hell for a BM)
I just lost a game in NE vs Orc, where I made a strategy and never really changed to mass-cyclone, which could have won it. It is important to change strategies depending on what happens.

Only about 10% of the time. Funny how ud masses destroyers the "anti caster" yet i have no caster units at all. Hm. And then i have to mass wyverns to keep up with them and attack move unitl he runs out of orb mana.

Has anyone ever played with or against mass Siege Engines? It's the most wonderful tactic because they never see it coming! Then they just steamroller into your base and destroy everything...
I saw a game of this once which was posted on WB by a guy who was singing the strategy's praises (SARCASM) and it's the funniest game I have seen to date. One player did a conventional Night-Elf bears/archers/dryads strat against the Human player (I seem to remember) while the Human player went no hero/mass towers/fast tech to siege engines. I sat back and watched the ensuing destruction, as the Human player held off the Night-Elf player with no units and eventually ran out of gold. Pity, I would liked to see it continue...

Actually, I played against a HU player who tried that on EI in a HU vs Random (got NE) match. Needless to say, he lost that one pretty bad for I don't even think that he ever destroyed 1 building.

I watched what I believe was a championship game where a Hu massed Siege Engines from 3 or 4 Workshops and spent all his time with his Heroes and 4-6 Mortar Teams going up against UD. It looked to be a draw until a squad of Siege Engines actually managed to take down the UD main base. It was particularly impressive, especially since he won. He just continued towering up his base, expanding, and sending Siege Engines. It was pretty amazing.

I've seen another replay of that sort between 4K.Zeus[17] and a random guy (this was contained in the replay-pack for Zeus recently released by Clan 4K) where his opponent went mass Mortar Teams/Siege Engines/Flying Machines from 5 or 6 Workshops. I'll have to upload the replay but am a bit pushed for time right now. He came so close to winning!
I just won against someone in NE vs UD, mainly by going DH + POTM, and sending an owl scout into their main base and seeing what they were massing. They went DK + mass fiends, so I went DH + POTM + bears. They changed to mass aboms and meat wagons, so I (still using heroes) went to bears + Mgs. I won that battle. Then they started making Frosties, so I (I had an owl scout always in their base) went mass-hippos. They ended up resigning realising that they couldn't win.
