VAC, Loved, Hated, but never ignored

VAC, the Valve Anti Cheating system (at least thats what it should stand for if it doesnt). Everyone that runs almost any valve game over the net knows about this. I was wondering what the warboards peeps opinion on VAC was, I think anti cheating things are great, but there are a number of times that i get the popup saying that i couldnt connect to the server running vac, and then i go back and try to connect again like, 2 seconds later, and it lets me in, and i find that really irritating, because it means i have to dl all the damn files for the server again. So i voted indifferent.

It's good, because now there are no hacks when I'm playing, but you can't run third-party applications at all. For example, there is an application that optimizes Nvidia drivers for better video quality and speed, but if you're running that and playing, it will be counted as a map hack.

It's good, because I don't use the hacks, nor do I use any third-party applications, but I'm sure there are non-hackers out there cursing at Valve because now they are forced to play without the optimizer.

I simply put indifferent. I dont cheat nor do I avidly hate cheaters. The VAC hasnt stopped all of the cheaters. The other day im playing a standard game of CS: Source on De_Dust. Team Balance comes on and for some reason everyone goes CT except for some guy name "E-Kid" or something. Then im like, whatevr, we're going to break the hacker. So when we do get to him, we all open fire. The bullets fly through him. He then flies into the sky and starts shooting all of us. *Bang* Headshot. *Bang* Headshot. Over and over. He was untouched and he got headshots on the entire team (15 people!).

It was like fucking D-Day. So....many...men. *cries*. But seriously. It was pretty funny, and I dont mind standing up against unstoppable odds every once and a while. Its good for ya. :P

It reminds me of the time I got modded on Warlock in Halo 2.

They had automatic Battle Rifles, super jumps without the normal hassle, and super-powerful grenades. We still managed to get 5-6 kill on them before they got 50. I told them to face me 1v1 no hacks, and the guy had balls enough to tell me I sucked. I actually laughed at him, told him to get some skill, and left the room laughing with my buddies. They got banned 5 days later from the E-mail I sent. =D

i actually had something very similar to that happen to me spartan, except it was on ascension, which is easily my best map, and the guy only won by 2 kills (slayer to 25), i found him to be banned later that day. And oh yeah, when you were at 1,999 posts, i was gonna force you to post somewhere so i could congratulate you on your 2,000th post, but i was ripped away from my computer by a phonecall from my girlfriend, which lasted until dinner, and so i didnt.

i would like it if they hadn't banned my account for no reasons that right they banned my account for a year and i dont hack so oh well guess i got to play battlefeild 2 instead

I dont like vac, because I like to use a few third party applications like Mindslaver, and any time saved from loading is great for my gay computer and connection. Though, its nice to not have so many hackers on servers.
