Ok, so I'm just working out this RP. My last one fell through cause... well, nobody knows anything about warcraft except for a few diehard fanatics. So here's my next rendition, an alternate-history.

World War II: The Betrayal
*Cheap Fanfare*
----------
From the journals of Two Star Resistance General Joseph Schneider:

June 6th, 1948
It's been four years since the secretive Operation: Overlord, a desperate attempt to open up a second front to aid Russia in her ply against Germany. Over 10,000 men (and woman) died selflessly, and in the following battles of the surrounding bocage and the disasterous Operation: Market Garden, the Allies have been pushed back out of France, leaving the resistance crushed. Europe has fallen under the shadow of Germany, as has much of Northern Africa. Britain's royal air force fought valiantly to the end, but it was a matter of supply as German u-boats continuoly sank the vessels handled by the brave Merchant Marines. Our navy, or a great bulk of it, was still absorbed in fighting over in the Japanese mainland, and was unable to escort our supply ships. With the Nazis controlling Africa, it was only a matter of time before Britain simply ran out of fuel for their planes and was crushed. The Nazi's invaded by boat shortly after, and theres been no word in or out of the British isles in the year since.

The pacific theater was fareing well, to say the least. That is, until the betrayal. Japan was out of the picture. Communist Russia, on the other hand, had joined the Nazis and was using the Chineese as their puppet empire. War in Japan had ended, only to bring war in mainland China and Russia. War in Western Europe had ended in defeat, war in the Pacific had only just begun.

With most of the army in disarray after the defeat in France and the failed defense of Britain, what was left was sent across the world in a desperate ploy - Distract the Russians and Germans long enough in mother Russia to find a way past the German's impregnible sea wall, stretching from Morroco, across a navy blocade at the Straight of Gibralter, all the way up to Norway. The last desert campaign, Lighting the Torch, had ended in similar disaster, and the higher brass generals were not eager to repeat it. So, it was off to repeat our success in the Pacific and hope that somehow we would find a weakness in their wall before the Germans made their move.

-----------

The Allies are loosing the war. The remaining Allies consist of the rag-tag Free French Forces, Canada, Brazil, Australia, Southern India, South Africa, Mexico and of course the United States. No word has been heard in or out of Britain since the ground invasion, all spys dropped out of contact and all reconnasance (sp?) planes never returned. Britain, for all intents and purposes, is a dead zone, as is much of Europe.
The central Axis powers consist of Germany, Italy, Austria, Turkey, Russia, and China, under the rule of Russia through their puppet-emperor. The Nazi empire stretches from Europe through Asia, as well as most of Africa with the exception of South Africa, where it is rumored Churchill and others fled before the German invasion of the Isles.

Japan is sympathetic to the Nazi's cause, but has officially surrendered after Hyroshima and Nagasaki were bombed, despite having a close and untested Russian navy as an ally nearby. Japan bought the bluff of a large stock of the United State's weapons of similar capabilities, but KGB opperatives had prevented Russia from buckling as well. The first two atomic bombs were also the United State's last.

---
RPers can choose to be either a Nazi soldier or an Allied soldier, either way you will be stationed in mainland Japan (onxmoron?). Nazi moral is high, equipment is plentiful and with the addition of Russia and China, so are the soldiers.

The Allies on the other hand have suffered defeat after defeat on land but have been very successful on the Seas and in the air. Either way, moral is low after the defeat of Britain, soldiers are running short, but equipment is still in fairly good supply.

The allies have the equipment and experince, but the axis powers have nearly five times the man power. For now, fill out the character sheet and join up on in the battle in the suburbs around Tokyo. Note that if this goes according to plan, you will not be stationed there for long. There have been very few new developments in weapons, most minds have been geared towards producing the weapons at a faster rate rather then developing better weapons. Ammomatic weapons such as the Tompson and Browning Assault Rifle (BAR) are common place now, but most troops still prefer and use the semi-automatic rifles of the age for their accuracy and simplicity.

Character Sheet:

Name:
Nationality: (this will for the most part corrospond with the side your on. If it doesn't, say your a German Jew refugee or something, then you should probably put that down to avoid confusion.)
Age:
Task: (Pilot, Tank Commander, Sniper, Assault Infantry, Ship captain ect. I don't know the technical word for this catigory, if someone thinks it up (Que Skippy), let me know and I'll fix it up.)
Rank: (I'll accept pretty much anything with this, but I don't want to hear your a five-star general. Keep it reasonable.)
Standard Weapon: (Whether you like it or not, you will be issued a combat knife, and a varying number of grenades and different model pistols (for axis, at least) based on rank. Axis get a Lugar .38 I think it is. Allies get the Colt .45. Also, for those of us idiots who don't understand a jumble of numbers and recognize, 'oh, a sniper rifle!', please use its common-name too. Remember the time period too. Late 1940's, but technology is slowed a bit, kinda like 1945ish I guess.)
Bio: (Try to include how many years you've been in the war, and scale that to your rank. For some allies, the war has lasted almost 10 years now.)
Appearance:

Also, to avoid confusion, I've been seeing this in alot of the other RPGs, please include this in each of your posts:

(Character name - Rank)
(General Location)
(General Action)

I know I sound like I'm babying you guys and I'm sorry, but I've been spoiled by seeing that, and its alot easier on everyone to just go by that.

This is an alternate history RPG. Things that don't exist could be invented. Make up a new plane or something, just keep it within the restrictions of the time period. Do the Germans have a secret fleet of sea-planes? Go crazy. And obviously, I don't expect you to go solo on everything. NPCs are welcome place, and I will allow additional characters if you PM me with your reasons why.

I'll be taking on the rolls of generals on boths sides, as well as the occasional common soldier to keep the story moving. Main narration will probably be in the form of Joseph Schneider's journals. If you havn't picked up on it already, the two main differences were that the Normandy campagin failed, and Russia left the allies to join the Axis. Things should get interesting. Lock'n load, join World War II's alternate history, and make your mark in this war-torn suburb of Tokyo.

Hmm... looks phun. I'll edit it my character sheet in a moment.

Name: Jack Nalter
Nationality: American
Age: 23
Task: Naval gunner, 16-inch cannons, USS Missouri
Rank: Fire Controlman
Standard Weapon: sawed off shotgun
Bio: Jack is a relative new recruit in the War. His father was in it before him, as an army sergeant before a Nazi sniped him. Jack always liked boats, so he decided the Navy was best for him, though with the Allies failling like they are, his position isn't enviable. He's on one of the last surviving battleships, the Missouri. He serves as the gunner for one of it's batteries, and has shelled a few Axis positions, but nothing too famous. He is very pessimistic, but tries not to show it and will defend America until his inevitable death.
Appearance: black hair, black eyes, hasn't exactly shaved in awhile, and has a somewhat permanent black smudge on his face from the black powder and his smoking habit.

Ok, kami, is this good?

That is beautiful =) I'll edit the two commanders in as well as a few 'blah' people for little nicks in the story later tonight. I'll also 'start this up' later tonight too, assuming more then just you show interest.

Name: Andrew "Ender" McFergusan
Nationality: First Generation American Immigrant from Ireland
Age: 32
Task: Unit Commander
Rank: Sergeant
Standard Weapon: Lost hsi main weapon in close combat in an urban zone, so he uses his sidearm (Colt 45) with a scavenged enemy sidearm (Lugar 38.) He also keeps his combat knife in case he is disarmed or needs to cut something other than skin and muscle.
Bio: Andrew had been fighting on the Eurafrican front for the first year or so, where he quickly learned everything he needed to survive when his psotion was surrounded for two weeks, until a bombardment cleared an exit big enough for most of his unit to pull back. Most, that is, being most of each person. He was one of the few to get out without an amputation.
With his unit butchered, he was reassigned to the Pacific battle, where he would be deployed in the seizing of islands once a position was secured. His unit went through new recruits nearly as fast as it went through enemy positions. This never developed into a reputation, so Andrew figures what the fresh meat doesn't know (about the unit) won't kill them.
Currently Andrew's unit is stationed on the mainland in a battlefield once called Kyoto. Other than Andrew himself, there are two medics, three snipers (only one trained,) and five men with combat rifles. They have found first names are easier to shout as a warning.
Appearance: He's a little over six feet and is very lean. His hair is red and eyes are green, his skin tone uncertain from the mud and dust gained in streetfights. He still wears the standard USA uniform, but has added on extra layers of armor scavenged from the dead or from scrap metal he can tie down. Most of his unit has followed suit.

Nationality:American
Age:28
Task:FrontLine Infantry of the 2nd Ranger Division
Rank:Leiutenant
Standard Weapon:Browning Assault Rifle(BAR) and whatever you fellas give me.
Bio:Although being in the army for 5 years,Drake has a bad reputation for not following orders.Somettimes known as a '1 week wonder',Drake can be quite slow at reloading his heavy weapon,the BAR.But he can be as accurate as a sniper.He is not one because of his lack of running speed when spotted.
Appearance:Clean shaven,Average hair lenght,short legs and brown eyes.

Done?OK,you got your BAR thing wrong Kami,its Browning not Berreta.And the Berreta pistols weren't invent yet!

Everyone's a critic.

Axis Commmander:

Name: Alexander Jacob
Nationality: Austrian
Age: 54
Task: Commander Axis ground forces in and around Japan.
Rank: Commandant
Weapon: Luger .38
Bio: Raised by a British military officer, from whom he gets his surname, and a Austrian peasent, Alexander is used to both the hard aspects of life and the strict disiplines that must be enforced in order to obtain and secure power. Having served in the first World War as a machine gunner, he is no stranger to the carnage of war. A war plauged with casualties, Alexander was quick to rise through the ranks, leaving both his mother and his father, whom he is rumored to of killed in battle, behind to serve wherever his country needed him. Nothing of a patriot in reality, Alexander lives more for the thrill of the hunt, yet not the kill. When World War II broke out, he was offered a position as a commisioned officer at last, which he greedily accepted. Through a series of lucky chances and a few unlucky deaths, Alexander was appointed master commander of all Axis forces in, around, and in transit to occupied Japan by Hitler himself.
Appearance: Most people say that Jacob looks something like a grisley bear. A weather worn face and gnarled hands, a result of wars, has led him to appear much older then he actually is. His salt and pepper crew-cut hair serves as a crown to his grisled face and short beard.

Allied Commander: Know him, love him.

Name: Joseph Schneider
Nationality: American
Age: 33
Task: Supreme Commander of Allied Forces in Japan.
Rank: Brigadier General
Weapon: Colt .45
Bio: Son of a simple farming couple in Utah, nobody is quite sure how Joseph rose to the ranks of Brigader General, especially at such a young age. He worked on the farm until he was 18, following his father's advice to see the world, and joined the military. When the war broke out, men of all kinds, from deckhands to quartermasters to generals, were in short supply. Woman were allowed to enlist, and finally woman were actually drafted after the failure in Europe. With the death of both Eisenhower and Patton, both victims of assassinations, the military fell into further disary. Being the longest commissioned officer as second luitenant, Truman took a risk and appointed Joseph Schneider to the forces in the Japan. All of the allies hold their breath and pray that under pressure he performs as well as he did in the battlefield.
Appearance: Young, energetic but rarely happy in this losing war, Joseph appears set to take on whatever challenges he faces. Standing at 5'11" and being of an average build, he is nothing intimidating. He often looks passive and looks like he will give into pressure before long, and can often be seen whiping his blond hairline of sweat with a look of pure fear, perhaps of failure in his hazel eyes.

I'm going to have to pass on the giant lazers. I know very little about weapons, other then the berretta company stole the revolver design from Colt them in the 1800s. I'm glad to be corrected.

So why no Axis? Surely theres evil in one of you.

From the Journals of Two Star Resistance General, Joseph Schneider,

October 4th, 1948

The Russians are a brutal bunch, all of the allies had hoped we would never have to face them, for their sheer numbers alone. And now we have the Chineese to deal with too. Japan itself is a warzone. Japan's government has surrendered unconditionally to us years earlier, but the fighting had continued. Japanese militants continually harrass my men. Whats worse, the Russians have decided to act up again. They've taken the northern half of the archipolego. When it comes to the sea or the air, we deftly defeat them. Its the simple problem that their ground troops are too many and too experinced to counter. For all the worth of myself and the Allies, I do not see an end tot his war.

The fighting around Kyoko today shook HQ to the foundation. For 48 hours we could hear mortars going off, and for 48 hours all I could do was sit inside the bomb shelter, watching the mortars shake the dirt from the cieling, waiting for the tunnel collapse that would choke me to death.

The situation here is looking pretty damn bad. The rag-tag ground forces here have either retreated to the realative saftey of the ships, where I swear, that damned Jap government is suppling kamikaze pilots to attack, or taken to the streets and fortifying gutted buildings. When this war is over, there's going to be a hell of alot of rebuilding to redo.

When this war is over... theres a thought that could use a drink.

Okay, I'm gonna give this a shot.

Name: Aaron McBride (Where have I heard McBride before? No realtion.)
Nationality: Canadian
Age: 18
Task: Scout/Sniper
Rank: Private Fist Class
Standard Weapon: Springfield sniper rifle. Note that he probably wouldn't have many if any grenades unless they're smokescreens.
Bio: Aaron has been in the war for about a year now, doing mostly scouting missions for the covert ops squads. Recently he had been ebroiled in some firefights, coming out in good condition and pretending not to know how many he had killed.
Appearance: Aaron is a somewhat small man, standing shorter than many other soldiers. He has a thin physique to match his slight features and deep green eyes to compliment brown hair, growing out of his crew cut. The combat fatigues that adorn his frame make him look a bit bigger than he really is and very hard to see. :ninjar:

He might be one of the snipers in Andrews squad, if you'd like.

Andrew - Sergeant
Axis Occupied Kyoto
Awaiting to Ambush Weapons Convoy

"Damn."

Andrew, called Sergeant or Ender by the remnant of his unit, could see a Jap patrol unit moving toward the street where his unit was supposed to ambush a convoy. He turned toward the sniper that was with him, and signaled for him to hold. In the abandoned apartment across the street, he could see the other sniper receiving a similiar signal.

Now he could only cross his fingers and hoped the last sniper learned from last time. He had a medic with each sniper that wasn't by him, but what worried him was the soldiers below. They had a new model of gun, semi-automatic. What mattered, however, was that it was built so it could handle any current sidearm clip, Allies or Axis. I have got to get me one of those.

The enemy unit had just come into the center of the road, coming into view of the new sniper. He knew to wait for the convoy to appear, but he could sometimes jump the gun. The infantrymen in the unit were hidden throughout the entry level of the buildings, and one of them was ducked in an alley.

The enemy unit passed, and Andrew looked at his watch.

"Twenty one minutes until we pull the trigger. Time to kill."

OOC: Rerolled Axis character. My previous character post is hereby nullified.

Name: Wilhelm Von Holsteim
Nationality: German
Age: 28
Task: tank commander
Rank: Staff Sergeant
Standard Weapon: MP-40
Bio: Wilhelm joined the Wehrmacht 10 years earlier, because he had just been fired from his job as a gunsmith. His training was over just in time to participate in the invasion of Poland, and has been with Germany throughout its tough times. He has fought in the Battle of Anaheim, the Invasion of Anzio, Stalingrad, Normandy, and fought the Allies in Operation Market Garden, and has only replaced tanks once. In Anzio, his Panzer IV was destroyed, he was the only surviving crewmember of the explosion, and now uses a King Tiger and has an experienced crew. He and his tank were transported from Toulon to Kyoto, and is currently waiting for some action.
Appearance: shaved blond hair, brown eyes, and scars from the explosion of his Panzer IV.

Ok, now that is out of the way, I'll edit in my RP post.

Капитан Yemen Stukoff
In the skies above Kyoko
Patrolling
---

Yemen patrolled the skies above Kyoko in his 'borrowed' Mistubishi Zero fighter plane. The streets below were quiet, except for the occasional small arms fire from building to building. This was Axis controlled territory, further south, in the heart of the city, was the Allied foward command base, Camp Liberty. His task was simple: make sure no allied planes tried to get into their airspace. The allies were pathetic in their battles, and had resorted to hit and run tactics. He laughed and leaned back, happy he was not below on the front lines, but was instead above the skies where he could attack the unsupported infantry men with impunity.

Feeling reckless, Yemen dropped his altitude in an attempt to pick off some infantry. A small axis convoy moved in the streets below, Yemen flew low and shook his plane, a little 'hi' jesture with his flapping wings. He pulled up and turned further south.

Here, battle raged. Fires consumed entire city blocks as tanks spat shells at each other. Swooping low, he fired on a Sheman. Two tracers from the dorsal gunner ripped into the plane's right wing. Nothing the rugged Zero couldn't handle. He checked his weapons. He could still shoot from the right gun, it was nothing to worry about. Infantry had begun shooting small arms up at the zero. Pumping with adrenaline, he swooped down again over the infantry, straffing them with machine gun fire. He couldn't tell if the bullets met their marks or they were simply diving for cover, but it didn't matter. The Russians they were fighting surged fowards and sent them into retreat.

Yemen swooped down for his third pass, straffing the retreating line of allies. More small arms fire peppered the Zero, and he decided it was time to get out. Turning back north, he could make out two Wildcats headed to intercept him. Yemen dove, gaining speed while the Wildcats shot haphazardly near their own troops to take him out of the skies. Soaring past the convoy he had passed earlier, he noticed one of the trucks had erupted into flames. The flames were the last thing he saw as Wildcat machine gun fire ripped into his Zero, hitting the motor. As fire consumed his cockpit, he could barely make out where he was going to hit the ground: right smack in the middle of the convoy.

October 4th, 1948

For Hauptgeneral Ruldoplh Kiesburg:

The situation in Japan is going well, the north half of the archipalego is under firm control, thanks in no small part to the sympathetic locals. Operations to restore fields are complete. We are nearly ready to begin surgery on the Boar's Head. Surgery will commence within a few hours notice of your approval,

- Kommandant Alexander Jacob

---

From the Journals of Two Star Resistance General Joseph Schneider.

October 4th, 1948.

Brigadier General Joseph Schneider:

I am sorry to report that additional troops are unavailable to reinforce your position. In addition, the usual supply ships from Hawaii were intercepted by Russian submarines. I hope you realize the repercussions of this. Pacific waters are no longer secure, and supplies are at even more risk, and until the Pacific is secure, you had best make do on the supplies you have.
Intelligence also reports that China has taken Indonesia and are ammassing for an attack on Australia. As such, all Australian troops are to be given a choice: Remain in Japan, as we pray many will, or defend their homeland. I realize you are both outnumbered and outsupplied, but we simply have no additional troops to spare. You must make due with what you have.

May God help us all.
-General Jason Matasker

Sergeant Brian Goodman
Streets of Kyoko
Fighting tooth and nail

A Zero fighter of the defunct Japanese government swooped overhead. Brian made a mental note to himself to kill every last damned jap he saw so much as eye allied troops. Reloading his M-1 Garand from the saftey of a blown-out retail shop, Brian rolled to a sitting position and fired at the approaching Russians from the display window. Troops on both sides were suffering heavy casualties, but the Russians simply had more.
Two tanks crushed over the sidewalk, and Brian new it was time to flee. As he ran into the streets, firing his colt over his shoulder, he could hear the Zero spray machine gun fire. Without thinking he dove to the ground as bullets richocheted inches away from his face. He got up and kept running with the 15 survivors of his unit from the nearly 50 strong Russians and their tanks.
Back at headquarters, Brian explained that another three blocks had been lost to the Russian advance, and was promptly sent back out the front lines in a new unit.

SSgt. Wilhelm Holsteim
In his tank, Kyoto
Patrolling
***********

Wilhelm grimaced as he peered through his binoculars. Allied troops were moving under cover through the street his hidden King Tiger was on. He couldn't fire, they had anti-tank rifles and bazookas, and they were out of range of his co-axil gun.

"Ficken Sie dies" he said, and then shut the hatch. He looked to the gunner who sat next to him and said, "Prepare the main cannon and tell the co-ax gunner to get ready to fire."

"Ja Herr! " the answer came as the crew came alive and started fulfilling their orders.

Wilhelm went to looking through the observation port, and noticed that the Americans... no, the Australians were being fired upon from a pagoda. He scowled, and ordered the crew to advance.

The awesome tank sprung alive and slowly started forward. The main cannon aimed, and fired into a squad of the Aussies, and crossed himself as he heard their dying screams. He was a devout Catholic, and didn't think Germany needed to do this. However, he didn't think the Holocaust was evil, since he was, afterall, Catholic.

The co-axial gun also started to sputter, sending rounds through the rest of the squad, meaning yet another skirmish victory for the Axis. Wilhelm sighed, and opened up the hatch, his MP-40 drawn.

Nothing moved.

He ordered the tank advance through the street and then meet up with a squad of Japanese resistors who were gonna try to put some hurt on Camp Liberty.

The snipers were about to fire when the plane crashed into the convoy. It has been a Zero, and it had looked relatively intact. It must have been a motor shot. The rear truck of the four truck convoy had been obliterated by exploding cargo, and Andrew frantically signaled to fire.

Just as planned, the first targets were the drivers. There were only three left, one for each. The fron one went to the uneasy sniper, the rear went to the one across the road, since he was the most seasoned. Three shots, three slumping Axis soldiers.

Five rifle bearing infantry poured out of hiding, killing the passanger seat soldiers. Enemy troops began to file out of the cargo area, four from each truck. Sniper shots took down two from each before they were engaged, and three more fell to sniper fire before it was over. One was lucky enough to get a clean spray off, and two of Andrew's men dropped to the pavement.

"Damn."

Pulling out his radio, he brought the appropriate code chatter to mind.

"Buffet's on the table, children. Eat until you're full, then go to your room."

He had taught the unit all the code words in Gallic, so they all knew what they had been ordered: scavenge what you need from the dead and the cargo, then we relocate back into our territory.

Andrew and the sniper began to move downstairs, but were met with a suprise. A little Japanese child. Holding a grenade. With the pin out.

Outside, the soldiers could hear an explosion. One of them, Bob, went to see what had happened.

Aaron crawled through yet another plateau of shrubbery and cover. Perched in the shadows, he observed what appeared to be gun emplacement and a short skirmish in the distance. He could have taken so many of the soldier with fairly easy shots and probably have gotten away with it, but he didn't have the ammo nor explosives to do it right. At least he had found something. Finally he could return to his camp.

~~~
When he made it back to where he had left from, it took him but seconds to see what happened. Axis patrols had found them.
Making sure the ones who had done unto his squad were too far to do unto him, he looked for what he could salvage. He didn't find much, either. It seemed he had some food, an extra compass three Colt .45s and ammo.
The only other thing he got his hands on was a radio.
With that,he held onto his BAR and went pointman.He took a few steps ahead,then he raised his hand signalling that the coast was clear.The squad quietly followed behind.They came across an AT emplacement.It was broken and on flames.Two corpses are on the ground.Beside them both is a M1 Garand and a Springfield Sniper rifle.Sprawled on the ground are some rifle clips.Minoso picked them up.Suddenly a gunshot was heard,and a squad member's stomach burts open.
'Sniper!Take cover!'
Every one scrambled behind whatever they see.Minoso was leaning agaisnt a rock with another soldier.He was praying to god that he would be saved.Minoso looked around and spotted Aaron a few meters awayKnowing that the enemy hadn't seen him,he tosed the sniper clips to him.Only he can shoot the sniper down now...
ooc: Besides starting all over the place, this should get a bit more confusing before it makes sense whats giong on.
Quickly: Russia joined the Axis, letting Germany's forces defend the sea wall completely from the allied invasion of Normandy instead of being split, resulting in our defeat in Europe. We still won the war in the Pacific, the first time around, but Russia quickly came to kick us out of Japan (where the story is right now) and the Chineese (controlled from within by Russia) are invading Australia. All contact from Europe stopped as soon as Germany took Britain, all we know is that a few nameless resistances are still fighting. South Africa and Australia are currently the last two free countries in the eastern hemisphere. I have a major event planned, it will be revealed later today.
Feel free to PM me about my posts if you don't understand whats going on. Right now, your supposed to be getting bits and peices of whats happening around the world anyway.
The Chineese made landfall in Northern Australia on the 8th.
Sidney is gone.
It fell victim to a nuclear attack from Russia.
Russia dropped a nuclear weapon. Germany has begun advances in South Africa, and there are scattered reports of red convoy ships near the Bering Straight. Russia has nuclear capabilties, our trump card is no more.
"Sergeant? Roy? Anyone alive in there?"
He could barely hear them, they were muffled by the debris.
"We're ... fine! We shut ... bef... grenade went ..."
"Anybody hurt?"
"Nope!"
"Alright, I'm going to call Jacob and Sam up on the radio to help me dig."
"Who ... this?"
"Bob."
"We'll ... radio. You ... dig..."
"Yes, sir."
After a few minutes of digging, Jacob and Sam were there and ready to dig.
"The others are entrenching in the building, sir."
"Why ... glum?"
"We've been getting radio chatter. Sydney seems to have been hit by a Soviet nuclear missile."
For the next half hour, nothing was said.
Looking at the sniper's face,Minoso could read his puzzlement.
'I though he knew where he was!'he said to himself.
A soldier that was facing south was shot in front on the head.
'So,the sniper is taking point south.Just-need-to-get-his-attention-'
He spied a stone on the ground.Grabbing it,he threw it near the AT.The Axis sniper,suprised,shot the stone as it flew from Minoso's hand.The flare from the sinper's rifle revealed his position near a few shrubs.His helmet was sticking out of the bush which was in a different color and could be spotted easily if you had sharp eyes.Minoso reached for his radio and contacted Aaron
'You see him?Get his a** shot this minute!'
Then his radio sounded by a panicked voice,not Aaron's,it was the cptn's.
'Minoso,get your man for evacuation at the Kyoto landing strip!We're being attacked by Russian forces!'
As the dust clears up,the corpse of the Axis sniper lays dead with 2 soldiers from Minoso's squad.The tank's unaccurate shell hit the hill where the sniper was.
'Ah,A King Tiger Tank.Heavier armour,longer range but less manuvearble than the original tank.'
'Stop being geeky and RUN!S-e-e those soldiers!?THEIR DEAD!SO RUN!'Minoso shook the radio operator's collar.'RUN!'
'But sir,wouldn't we be vulnerable to the mounted MG42?'
'Just run!'
The remaining survivors of the squad began to scramble from their positions.An unlucky soldier was blasted to pieces as the tank shot another shell.The sound of an empty shell casing dropped.Minoso and the radio operator ran towards the bushes hoping the foliage will hide them.As they reached,the operator kept closing his face while Minoso watched the devastation of his teammates.
'Call the cptn' now!NOW!'
'Y-y-y-yes sir!'
'Paging to Captain Mckom,this is squad Alpha.We are under attacked by-b-b-'
'Gimme that!'And Minoso snatched teh receiver from his hand
'Sorry Minoso,you and your squad are alone on this.The batalion is getting ready for evacuation and we can't risk for just a squad of grunts!But,we will drop a supply crate for all of you.You can handle the rest.If I see you alive,go to the landing strip.My pilots are still there.Good luck and,remember,if a tank is on fire,the crew only has 5 seconds to exit the vehicle'
"Follow them!" Wilhelm shouted to the driver as the co-axial gunner tore an enemy soldier to pieces.
"Ja herr!" the driver shouted, and the tank proceeded full speed ahead, following the squad. Wilhelm was taking potshots at them with his MP-40, and ordered a stop as the soldiers ran into a bush.
Wilhelm leaped out of the hatch, and silently crept up on their position. He didn't understand much English, but he heard enough to recognise that some kind of air support was coming in. His eyes immediatly grew to the size of saucers, as he ran frantically back to his tank.
He threw open the top hatch and shouted, "Finden Sie Decke! " and jumped into the tank, as it proceeded to a garage and kept it's turret trained on the bush, as Wilhelm began to look for more ammo in case the plane was an attack plane. He knew he couldn't do much, but he also knew that one gun was better than none.
'Could the tank be gone?'
He though as he picked up the dirt covered BAR.Still kneeing,he peeked through the bush.The sight of the tank pointing it's main gun at them frightens his wits.He hit the radio operator's head softly with the butt of his gun.Still sobbing,he straightened himslef up and held onto his M1 Garand.An engine sound greeted them.It was the engine of an airplane!Looking up they see a transport plane heading towards their way.But something was wrong,the planes tail was on fire.And they saw why.A pair of Zeroes are firing it's MG's at the plane.Soon,the plane exploded and the debris fell onto the ground.The operator cried again.Minoso was totally speechless.Their last hope was gone...Just then,some one nudged him.He turned around to see two of his team mates on the ground with a big sack pulled by them.
'Minoso!Thank goodness you're still alive!Look what we found in a nearby cave!'
Wlhelm breathed a sigh of relief as he saw the plane go down. He got back in his tank, and then ordered it go forward towards the bush.
"Co-axial, aim for that bush. Fire until you overheat!"
"Ja herr!" the answer came, as the gun sputtered out rounds. Wilhelm grimaced, crossed himself, and retreated into the steel bowels of the tank, and ordered the gunner to stop after a 10 second burst.
He waited for a moment, and closed all open ports on the tank. He recognised the distinct sound of a panzerschreck being loaded. Mosin rifles couldn't do much to a King Tiger, but in heavy salvos, a panzerschreck round could hurt a tank, as well as a bazooka round.
"Brace yourselves!" he said, and the crew did as they were told to the best of their ability.
[tag Aquarian. You have 2 bazooka rounds. You'll probably slow the tank a little bit]
In his new location, he had visual contact with Minoso. With a series of hand signals, he asked if he should come down or if he should cover the hatch. It would be easy for him to make it, considering he was almost behind the tank and the next guy out of the hatch would be an easy shot...
"Sir, how are we going to tell the troops?"
"Our men arn't stupid, Zachery, half of them probably know by now. Every radioman who's doing his job probably heard our chatter. We didn't bother to conceal it. They certainly know they bombed us." Joseph said from behind his desk.
The office was small and spartan. He never bothered to decorate it, he had always hoped soon he could move safely to an above ground base. Located deep within a mountain, the base was as secure as he could hope for. But the mortar fire that plauged the area still shook dirt from the ceiling.
"Sir?" Zachery asked again. "How would the troops know about what happened in the U.S. 2 hours ago?"
"What?"
- - -
"HOW THE HELL DID THEY BREAK THROUGH?!"
"You will address me as Sir or General." a tired voice responded to Joseph.
"How the hell did they break through, Sir."
"Look Schneider. Don't talk to me like we didn't try to stop them. With most of our troops under your command, there is not much we could do."
"Didn't intelligence hi-"
"There has been no intelligence reports from Europe since we lost Britain. You know that. Our first warning was one of their U-boats off the shore."
"And how long ago was that?"
"Less then three hours ago. By the time we got the National guard in the city, they had already taken the beach."
"My aide, he said something about a bombing?"
The line was silent.
"We lost Washington, Joseph."
As the tank shot the shrub,the four soldiers sighed with relief.THey have managed to crawl from bush to bush without being noticed.The radio operator and Minoso crawled South while the sergeant and the remaining soldier crawled North.Doing this so the tank would be surrounded.The sergeant and Minoso each carried a a panzerchreck.He and the operator settled behind a tree unoticed and a few meters away from the tank.Just then,he saw Aaron's hand signals.He signalled back.
'Negative.But,if you have grenades,it will be good if you throw it on the top at the gunner position.It will distract and damage the tank.We will then handle the rest.'
Two hand grenades flew on top of the tank without it's knowledge.It exploded and caused a commotion on the inside.The tank turned it's turret towards Aaron.Just then,two panzerschrek rounds burts out towards the tank and exploded upon impact.The tank's steel armour maybe burned but the engine is still running and undamaged.The tank was confused and could not see the four soldiers running towards it with grenades in their hands.Minoso tossed his followed by the other three.It landed right on the back of the tank,where the engines are.The four grenades exploded and it bursts into flames.The crew inside have a chance to exit before they are trapped in the fiery hell.The squad of four does not know their fate because they ran towards the landing strip without looking back.
"Gott Verdammen!" Wilhelm shouted as he ordered the escape hatch to be opened. It was on the bottom of the cramped tank, as the driver got a monkey wrench and beat it open.
The driver went through first, then the co-axial gunner, than the main gunner, and then Wilhelm. They all made it out before the tank's turret exploded, and the crew remembered to bring their MP-40s out with them.
"Ok... it seems our tank is kaput. Men, scramble and meet me back at the vehicle pool. We'll go faster split up, and we won't be as detectable." Wilhelm said in German in case the allies were listening in.
The group scrambled, and Wilhelm chose to run west, then north towards downtown Kyoto. He was careful enough not to run too fast, but to go at good speed so the enemy couldn't get him. He also tied a massive, leafy bamboo stalk to his belt, so the leaves would cover his tracks.
A few hours later, he was back in the vehicle pool. His entire crew was alive, though one had a minor injury, from a bramble bush. Wilhelm began looking around for a new tank, and foudn a suitable King Tiger. Then, he started filing out the paperwork... which was about 10 pages thick.
For Hauptgeneral Rudolph Kiesburg:
The campaign here is going extremely well. We have enlisted a contingent of Japanese rebels to aid us, and although their losses are heavy, they do extremely well.
Our forces have also been fairing well, but, better supplied and with a solid chain of command, our losses have been noticeably fewer. In the skies and on the seas the tide of war is turning. The Russian pilots are not very skilled, but they are many, and there is no shortage of Mitsibishi Zeros now that Kyoto has been resecured.
We found the allied HQ earlier today, abandoned. It seems a general retreat is in effect, owing to our easy recapture of the city. What appears to be an entire division still wages war in the city, although the only supplies they have are scavanged off the fallen Russian soldiers in the area. In the allied headquarter, we were able to peice together a burnt transcript bearing only 4 recognizable words: "I've declared Martial Law."
Sir, I'm requesting to be integrated into the chain of command on the western front. Our job here will soon be done.
Hope all is going well in Berlin,
____
Name: Tosky Dourchev
Nationality: Russian
Age: 38
Task: Strategist/Leader
Rank: Colonel
Standard Weapon: 12mm, 10 round, special issue sidearm
Bio: A fervent supporter of Communist ideals, he was aghast and feels extremely betrayed when Stalin ordered the alliance to the Nazi's after the fall of Stalingrad. He sees his nation's leader as only as a coward and a betrayer to his people. His words are false, his vision flawed, and his sense of honor, nothing.
But with Stalin in firm control of the Secret Police, Colonel Tosky can only keep his mouth shut and his "treasonous" thoughts to himself. He is not alone, however, in how he feels with how the current leader of the Soviet Union is handling certain matters. Although still a very loose and unorganized network, an extremely determined pro-Communist group of sorts high within the echelon of the Soviet military and political hierachy is slowly beginning the work to stage a coup within the Kremlin.
And Colonel Trosky? Well, he's the unofficial leader.
Appearance: Hard and grizzled. To get this high in the cutt-throat world of the Soviet regime, you need quick wits, an uncharacteristically political savvy personality, and oftentimes, a master draw. Trosky possesses all of these qualities along with a charismatic personality and the presence of a natural-born leader of men.
Name: Karl
Nationality: Austro-German
Age: 38
Task: Captain of the Destroyer Katzbalger
Rank: Kapitan
Standard Weapon: Combar Knife, and Luger. (Lugers were made in 9mm, 7.63mm, and 6.35mm, not .38 caliber.)
Bio: Karl is the son of the Captain of the Heavy Cruiser Seydlitz that served with honor in WW I, and and Austrian Jew. He was raised in Austria with his mother until he was a 18 years old, when he rushed to Germany and joined the re-armed Kriegsmarine. Despite serving in the German Navy for the past 8 years under Nazi Fascism, he dispises Nazism and ani-semitism. He is not opposed to the re arming of Germany, though. He has served in the navy all of his life and has held the rank of Kapitan for the last four years. He saw action against the British and French Navies, Greek forces in Sicily, American forces in the Pacific, and Austrailian Troopships when they tried to invade southern Africa. He is very expierienced and highly intelligent. His current vessel, the Katzbalger is a new class of Destroyer utilizing the new wire-guided missile technology.
Appearance: Karl has dark eyes and light hair, which he keeps short and well groomed. He has a trimmed beard and moustache, which are the same shade as his hair. He weighs in at around 200 lbs, and edges a little past six feet tall. He hasa medium build, and
The Landschnect class of destoryers have been designed to combat aircraft and submarines, but since the Allies have few subs anymore, the "Landschenct" class is also being used in the patrol craft and shore attack roles as well as its main job of anti-aircraft destroyer. For its main anti-ship armament it has a two single 5 inch multi-role, rapid firing, high/low angle turrets on the fore deck. These can be used against other destroyers and shore targets, or against high altitude bombers. For anti subamrine warfare it carries a pair of submerged torpedo tubes firing foreward, as well as depth charge launchers on the foredeck, and depth charge racks aft. Ten 20mm guns in single mounts, four 40mm guns in two double mounts make up its air-defence weaponry. It also untilizes a pair of tubes firing forward to launch the newest advance in missile technology, the X-5 "Valkyrie" Wire guided missile. These have a range of 90 miles and pack a punch equal to 15 rockets. These are often used to destroy bunkers and bridges. The Landschnect class is a long, slim design which allows them to patrol up streams and rivers. It is a rather small destroyer class, being crewed by a hundred-fifty men and 15 officers. It can make an impressive 38 knots in rough water, making it the swiftest vessel used by Germany. The flagship, the Landshnect was sunk in a bombing by American Dauntless dive bombers in 1946, and the Katzbalger was made the flagship for the class. All in all, 19 have been made, and a futher 30 are planned to be complete by 1950. The Katzbalger is being sent to Japan under the orders of Admiral Hanz to patrol extensively the rivers and lakes that criss cross the island of Japan.
(Landschnect means mercenary in english, and katzbalger means cat fighter.)
The Katzbalger was burning fast up a river, making alost full speed at 35 knots. General quarters had been sounded, and all men had taken their battlestations. Kapitan Karl had recieved orders to make full speed up River 4, headed to the location of a downed Allied plane. His orders were to exterminate them all, but Karl had no intention of doing that, prisoners yielded more information than bodies, and Karl had decided long ago enough blood had been spilled in this useless war.
"All ahead 3/4, make sure all the guns have ammunitions, and make sure the gunners are wearing their flak jackets." Karl Commanded
"Aye, aye sir." reported his Ensign.
Karl had always shown great care for his sailors, and that had made him a very popular Captain, despite having falling out of favor with Nazi officials. Karl hated Nazism, but he could do nothing about it. He was standing on the Bridge, with his binoculars scanning the horizon. The two gun turrets on the foredeck were being loaded up with proximity ammunition, the standard for taking out aircraft. He was beginning to go back to his quarters when the radar operator called for him.
"Cold start, 700 meters. It looks like a DC-3"
Karl took out his binoculars and scanned the skies, and spotted the Allied Transport ship It was flying at full speed, low altitude for the same location Karl had been given, probably to pick up the survivors. He went over to the Weapons officer.
"Train the foreward cannon on the plane, give me three round bursts at intervals of two seconds, set the proximity rounds for fie meters."
He noded and got onto the radio, and transmitted the orders from Kapitan Karl. The Foreward gun turret aimed its single cannon skyward and moved to lead the target plane slightly. About a second later, it fired three 125mm Flak rounds, and then a few seconds later another three round burst fired. The second salvo was the charm, and one of the rounds blew the wing off of the craft, and sent it spinning into the ground. A pillar of smoke lifted up from the spruce forest, indicating that it had been destroyed. Karl shook his head, and sighed heavily. He hated this, fighting a meaningless war. He went back to the Officer's Mess, where he and his buddies played poker everyday.
He sat down with his two closest friends. There was Master Chief Wilhelm, and Chief Petty Officer Brent. Brent dealt out two cards to each player, and passed out the chips. Wilhelm folded, and Brent bet a reichmark. Karl put down his cards, and began to stand up.
"Sorry guys, I am not in the mood" Karl said
"No problem Cap'n I do not want to lose more money any way. I got to go inspect the Gun turrets anyway. I'll see you tommorow." Wilhelm replied.
"I have to report to the engine room to check the left turbine as well. See you around Captain." Brent said.
Karl left the Officer's Mess hall and went to his private quarters. He took off his uniform jacket and laid down on his cot. He took out his journal, and began to write.
SSgt. Wilhelm Holsteim
En route, Kyoto-Osaka-New York
Read above...
*****************
Wilhelm finally finished filling out the paper work of his new King Tiger, as his crew shuffled about and went to get some food. Just as the sergeant was whiffing in the new tank(TM)smell, the commandant of Kyoto appeared behind him.
"Achtung, herr Holsteim!" Cdt. Jakob Schroeder shouted in a loud, booming voice.
"Ja herr!" Wilhelm said, and snapped to a salute.
"Turm around, Holsteim..." Schroeder said, and rolled his eyes. Wilhelm turned around, still saluting, and said "You needed me?"
"Yes, yes I did. You have been ordered to be stationed to New York city. The resistance movement is becoming a nuisance, they need experienced tank commanders. You are just the man they need. Go by the road to Osaka, and get on a transport going to New York."
"Ja herr!" Wilhelm said again, and sought out the other crewmembers of the Staff Sergeant's new tank.
When all 4(including Wilhelm)had been assembled, he briefed them on the situation. They saluted, and started to stockpile snacks and general junk food into their pockets, and then manned their positions in the tank. Wilhelm assumed his position in the hatchway, with his trusty MP-40, and his seigrune helmet, and his Luger. He also had a piece of his previous tank's armour. He collected armour from all the tanks that had been destroyed under his command, as a memorial of them. He had a piece of the turret from his old Panzer IV, and a part of the tread from his old King Tiger.
He ordered a full speed to Osaka, and the driver started off, and the entire crew broke out into singing the Horst Wessel song.
A few hours later, still singing the Horst Wessel song, they arrived in Osaka. The driver parked near a fuel stop, as Wilhelm got out and went to the dockmaster.
"Which one of these transports is going to New York and has room for a King Tiger?" the sergeant asked, looking at the name tag; it was König. König was a tall, kind-faced man with blue eyes and a calm voice. He looked like the perfect Public Relations soldier, not a hardy dockmaster.
The dockmaster checked his roster and looked back at Wilhelm. "Ah yes. Just one. They have barely enough room. Are you Staff Sergeant Wilhelm Holsteim?"
"Yes, I am."
"They're waiting for you. Gott seien mit Ihnen" Dockmaster König said, smiled a kind, heart-warming smile, and walked off to a group of men who had started fighting.
Wilhelm saluted, and went back to his tank, which was freshly refueled and the crew was happy and hydrated. Wilhelm told the driver to go ahead and secure the tank, Wilhelm would be back in a moment.
Wilhelm helped König stop the fight, and looked closely at the man.
"I feel like I know you from somewhere. Are you from Kael?" Wilhelm asked.
"I was wondering when you'd figure it out, Willy. It's me, Heinrich!"
"Hein! It's been a long while, old friend!" he said, laughed, and the old friends gave eachother a tight hug.
"So what have you been doing in all this time, Heinrich?"
"Sailing. I joined the Kreigsmarine in 1943. I got assigned to the Turpitz, and survived its sinking. Then, they made me a dockmaster and I eventually made my way here. How 'bout you, Willy? I'm just as curious as you are!" Heinrich König said, lighting a cigarette and taking a puff.
"I've been in panzers. I helped beat the Americans at Normandy! I was fighting in Russia until the Ruskies joined us. Then, they moved me to China and then to Kyoto. It's been uneventful, mostly. But I have gone through two panzers, my current King Tiger is my third." Wilhelm said, and chuckled.
"Well, it was incredibly nice to see you again. I hope you don't die in New York, I hear it's quite a pain in the esel over there." Heinrich said, and gave Wilhelm another hug as the Ssgt went to his tank.
Wilhelm met up with co-axial gunner, who showed Wilhelm his room. Holsteim thanked his fellow soldier gratefully, and lay down on the cot, and fell into a deep sleep. A kind of sleep he hadn't had since he left his hometown of Kael.
Karl arrived at the Combat Information Center after a short nap, and sat into the Kapitan's chair. His ensign handed him a cup of tea, and Karl took several sips. He stirred it with his spoon and set it down on the tray next to him. He stood up and approached the radio operator, who flagged him down. He took off the ear muffs and turned to Kapitan Karl.
"Sir, the Kriegsmarine Command has dictated that we are to abandon our run and divert to Osaka. We are to aid in the escort of a group of Troopships headed to the New York. Osaka is a mile a way, and Helm has already diverted to Osaka."
Karl noded and sat back into his chair. He sighed heavily. Back to battle, but this time on the enemy's home turf. he would probably be put into the thick of battle, but that did not bother Karl a bit. Killing innocent people did. It took a few minutes for them to reach Osaka, and he had the ship dock for quick re-arming and re-fueling. Karl dis-embarked from the vessel, and approached the dockmaster, who had just brocken up some fighting.
"Hello Kapitan. I take it you are the Destoryer that is to accompany the troopships headed for New York?"
"That I am, is everything ready?" Karl asked.
"Aye Kapitan, all is well. You are the lead ship." The Dockmaster reported.
Karl nodded and returned to the Katzbalger to ready it for launch. The Ensign delivered the Manifest, which read that the ship was fully armed and fueled. He went to the CIC, and went to Helm.
"Take us out" He ordered.
The Katzbalger left the dock, and the Troopships followed suit.
"Cold start!!! three kilometers, its an Aircraft Carrier!!!"
Karl lept out of his Kapitan's chair and went directly over to teh radar post. It sure was a Carrier, even if it was only a small one. He couldn't tell if there were any ships onboard, but there definently would be. He ran over to the Weapon's Officer, who was already shouting out orders to the gunners.
"Battlestations, Battlestations!!! Load both of the torpedo tubes and train both cannons on the island of that carrier. Load up high explosive incendiary rounds in gun one and armor piercing rounds in gun two. Bring us about Helm!"
The Weapon's Officer nodded and began shouting out the orders over the com. On deck, all the sailors were manning the manyfold 20mm and 40mm guns and the turrets were turning and lining up on the carrier in the distance. Both of them began firing at the highest possible rate. The Destroyer began turning towards the carrier, and it was finally lined up. Karl looked to the weapons offcier, and shouted.
"Fire torpedos!"
The submerged torpedo tubes fired a pair of Mk 51 "Long Lance" torpedos at high speeds, and they were cutting water very quickly towards the Carrier.
Name: Kurt Steiner
Nationality: Austrian
Age: 19
Task: Infantry
Rank: Unteroffizier (Corporal)
Standard Weapon: Due to the fact the Waffen SS and SA have been gathering all the high quality and new firearms that Germany can muster, the Regular Army has been issuing older models and obsolete desgins, especially to conscripts. Kurt was issued a MP-41 and a Steyr 1912 handgun
Bio: Kurt was born and raised in Autria, and has never been very adventorus. At the age of 17 he started his own motor repair shop, and became very good at mechanics from then on. When Hitler came to power in the late thirties and began his conquest of the lowlands in 1939, Austria was one of the first to fall victim to his Panzer regiments. Several thousand young Austrians were conscripted into the German Army, and Kurt had the bad luck to be one of them. He was sent to the Eastern Front, and battled away with the Soviets there until the Allies invaded Sicily. He saw action against Patton in Sicily and Monty Cassino, and then was sent to France when Operation Overlord began. He helped fight the Allies back, and then was shipped to Japan to eliminate any Allied Resistance there. After six months of hunting he was sent to the Eastern Seaboard of the U.S., and has been serving in New York since.
Appearance: Kurt is your typical man of germanic stock, having fair hair and dark blue eyes. He is about 5'10", and a little stocky at 200 lbs.
( Scouting for 3rd Panzer Company )
The crunch of gravel under his boots broke Kurt out of his haze. He and his squad mate were running a recon screen for 3rd Paner Company through the suburbs of New York, hunting for anti-tank guns and American troops. He looked around him, at the destroyed houses and thought about how he gotten here, to the heart of the greatest war the world had ever faced. He chuckled at the irony that he would have been killed if he had not chosen to kill. He slung the Mp-41 over his back as his squadmate approached an apartment building that was thought to hold Allied troops. He took out his pistol, and pulled the slide back to make sure it had a full clip. He nodded to the the other trooper who opened the door.
He rushed in, handgun leading as he did a sweep off the entrance room. There was nothing and the other trooper raised his own pistol, as he followed suit and cleared the other side of the room, and he almost went into the next room, but Kurt grabbed his arm and held him there.
There was a small, thin wire running across the door frame.
The trooper backed away while Kurt holstered his pistol and took out some scissors. The wire cut easily enough, and he stood up and took out his pistol and backed away. The other soldier kicked open the door, and Kurt rushed in, to see a trio of american soldiers playing Texas hold em.
One of them went for his rifle while one of the others raised a Thompson. Kurt fired three rounds into the one with a pistol, while The others started blasting away and yelling out curses and orders. Kurt dived into the small bathroom, while the unfortunate other Axis Troop got pumped full of .45 slugs from the Thompson. Kurt reached to his belt and pulled out a stick grenade. he poped the cap off of the handle and pulled the priming cord. He tossed it into the other room and waited for the boom.
The explosion rocked the aparment and there was no noise from the other rooms. Kurt moved through, and checked all the bodies. He stripped the ammo from his fellow soldier and took the rations and cigarettes from the Americans. He took out his radio and called back to the foreward command post.
"Command, this is Unteroffizier Kurt Steiner. Three hostiles down, minus one friendly. Looks clear send in the Paners."
"Roger that, wait there for motorized infantry to pick you up."
Kurt went out the same way he had come, and took out one of the ration packs he had gotten from the Americans. He opened it up and took out the beef jerky. Another three kills to his credit, and another friend lost.
OOC: Highlights, in the 1940s? Hmm... as for the Genises, is that the plural form? Google doesn't say anything, and I don't recognise the name. But other than that, it looks accurate. Also, a medic/sniper seems... unrealistic. Remember, the military brass at this time probably considered men more suitable for combat, which technically they are. A sniper is a realistic position for a woman, so is a medic. However, there are no reports that I know of, that both ever existed in World War 2.
Waking up...
*****************
Wilhelm shook awake from the sounds of explosions. He rubbed the sleep out of his eyes, grabbed his MP-40, and ran to the top deck.
He saw a destroyer launching torps and shooting off at a small carrier. Wilhelm couldn't careless, the carrier probably wasn't much of a threat. In fact, he was getting somewhat sympathetic to the Allies, but he kept it quiet. He couldn't do anything to help the destroyer, so he gathered up the crew and ordered them on a permanent watch until further notice.
Yawning again, he took out a chocolate bar that hadn't been destroyed, and took a mighty bite out of the thick, hard milk-chocolate.
"Mmm... tasty." he said to himself, disgusted at watching the carrier sink so he went back below decks to see if the crew had any games or knew any songs, or if anyone he met was around.
OOC: By the way, can we skip ahead to New York? It's a bit of a long trip, even using the Panama Canal. If I remember correctly, it took roughly 2-3 weeks going by ship from Osaka to New York using the Panama Canal.
Sounds of movement drew Kurt back into the apartmenr. One of the Americans was still alive, despite being riddled by shrapnel from the stick grenade. He was reaching for a picture of his family, that had been held on the inside of his helmet. Kurt bent down and picked up the balck and white photograph. A wife and a little girl. Kurt handed it to the soldier, who seemed genuenly suprised. He smiled slightly as he looked at the picture.
Kurt stood for a second, and then left the room, and the soldier alone. He walked to the alley he had been sitting in, and looked over the destroyed city. This wasn't worth the death that had already been caused. He shouldn't be here. He should back in Austria, making a family of his own like the American soldier back in the apartment.
He shook his head, and sat down. He almost wished the Allies would win the war, so he could go back home. Sounds down the alley drew his attention. He stood up, and raised his Mp-41. He moved down the alley, gun raised and ready.
He jumped around the corner, to see a child rumaging through the trash for food. Kurt sighed, and reached into his jacket. He handed the boy two of his ration packs, and he ran off happily. He returned to the door and sat down, waiting for the transport trucks.
From the journals of Two Star Resistance General Joseph Schneider
October 15th, 1948.
The landing at Midway was rough, but a neccessary refueling point. Russian destroyers had been patrolling the area, and we considered ourselves lucky to have flown halfway across the pacific unspotted. Or at least unharrassed. Maybe the prospect of shooting down a B-29 for the sole purpose of killing a washed up Brigadier General wasn't worth the fuel and ammuntion to the Nazis. Damn them.
The Nazi's had breached the Mississippi by the time I landed in the Northwest Territory, still allied controled land. I'm to lead 10 divisions back into New York, more for a moral boost then practicality. 4 more divisions are sceduled to come in from the sea. We're to go by armored train from here.
From what our intelligence reports, New York City looks exactly like it should. A warzone. Little infrastructure remains in one peice, and word of a resistance movement amoung the surviving civilians is so widespread, most civilians are shot on site by the Germans, adding more fuel to the fire. They're underfed and undersupplied, but man do they have spirit.
( Gathering supplies )
It had been a bumpy ride in the armored half-track, but at least he did not have to walk. The 3rd Panzer Company had moved ahead without any resistance, and Kurt Steiner was being rotated to the rear for two days of rest from frontline scouting and hunting. He needed more ammo and food, and he was heading to the supply depot on the Hudson river to get those supplies.
The Quarter Master was signing in more ammo from a ship that had recently dropped off supplies, but really wasn't suprised to see a trooper come in for ammo. There was a lot of fighting in the inner city, and men needed to cram their pockets full of it if they wanted to stay alive.
"Hello, Sir. I need two boxes of 9mm Parabellum, and two boxes of 9mm Steyr ammo."
"Sorry soldier, were out of 9mm Steyr."
"Hmmm, then I shall need a replacement weapon."
He set the Mp-41 on the counter while the Quarter master went into the store rooms to get his ammo and a new rifle for him. To his great suprise, he came out with a STG-44, and two boxes of ammo for it. He set it down, and got some magazines for the rifle. He then went back into the storerooms and got some ration packs, and a chocolate bar.
"Here you go soldier. STG-44, ammo for it and your pistol, and rations."
"Thank you Sir."
Kurt left the supply depot and went off to the side of the road where he packed the rations into his backpack. He then put the magazines for the rifle into his ammo sack that hung from his sholdier. He raised the STG-44 and pulled back the slide. There was a fire selector, and a long, 30 round magazine. This was going to be a good weapon. He poped a magazine into the rifle and pulled back the slide. The round entered the chamber crisply.
Kurt got up and began to move off to get some sleep, when a Private of his company came over to him to give him some information. Kurt was not going to enjoy this. It seemed his rest was already over.
"Sir, command wants you back at the front to do some solo hunting for resistance fighters."
Kurt nodded and got up. More killing to do it seemed.
( Hunting for AT gun positions )
OOC: You could start of in NY with a squad
Kurt moved ahead, again screening for anti-tank guns for the 3rd Panzer Company. He was moving through the inner city this time, not the suburbs like last time, and this time he was alone. That was the way he liked to work, and he was considered cannon fodder because he was not German. He lifted the STG-44 rifle and flipped the fire selector to single shot. About one hundred yards in front of him, he spotted what he was looking for.
A 37mm American Anti-tank gun.
Kurt dived into the dirt and took out his binoculars. He spotted the gun, and the two man crew behind the blast shields on the sides of the gun. There was also a four-man squad, and a machine gun to the left. He took his back pack off and fitted the muzzle adapter to the barrel of his STG-44. He took out a special grenade, and fitted it onto the adapter. He then took the magazine out and loaded a special crimped cartridge into the chamber. He raised the rifle and angled it towards the gun.
He pulled the trigger and the grenade flew down range and hit right into the wall behind the gun, causing the gun team to be thrown over the gun shields and throwing the squad to the ground. The machine gunner on the other hand started to spray the alley he had fired from with rounds, cutting a telephone pole in half and dropping it over the alley. Kurt pulled back and took the adapter off the rifle before popping a full magazine into the rifle and pulling back the bolt to load in a round. He looked around the corner, and almost got a round in the face. The rocking pop of BAR fire caught his attention and he ran into the building and ran up the third floor. He opened a window and sprayed the sand bag bunker with rounds. The walls exploded as rounds punched holes in the wall.
Kurt dropped to the floor, and reloaded his rifle. He reached into his pack and brought out his radio. He started to sweep the frequencies for a nearby squad.
"This is Unteroffizier Kurt Steiner, 3rd Company Panzer Grenadiers. I have located AT gun position north of the Hudson supply depot and east of the foreward command post. I need back up, now."''
The building was raked with more heavy weapons fire as the american aimed their machine gun at his position. Kurt looked down at his leg. It had a hole, and it was rimmed with red.
"You better bring a medic, I am hit"
"How did a resistance movement pull that off?"
"Captured German U-Boat. Its docked upstate right now."
"Thats quite impressive."
"Thank you."
A young woman, probably in her mid twenties with long blond hair, stood in Joseph's Officer - the self proclaimed leader of the "Empire Resistance." One of the many resistance groups in the area, Joseph suspected they were more organized the the armed forces were at the moment. Not that was terribly bad. However disorganized the army was, it didn't matter. They wern't here en-masse. Intelligence reported that Joseph's armored train that took him to the outskirts of the city had been destroyed. The Nazi's had taken the Northwest, and Canada had ceased to exist as a stable nation. With the loss of Ontario and Montreal, and the Newfoundland region, the Canadians had surrendered their armies, but not their arms. A feirce resistance continued, and many soldiers 'deserted' and continued to fight. Her citizens, however, were safe for the moment.
"So how many of there are there? Resistance fighters, that is."
"Just about everyone older then 14 is fighting, sir. Or at least helping out. I think our youngest actual soldier is 17."
"So... how many is that? Are you saying you number in the millions?"
At this the woman looked grave.
"No sir. Most of the population was wiped out in the destruction of the first landing. I have only 30,000 men, woman and children at my command. Other resistance groups have far less."
"Thats...."
"A handful of surviving scientists estimate a 80% mortality rate."
Joseph was speachless, and the woman, Kimberly Robinson, took this as her que to leave.
"If you'd like sir.... we are yours to command. I'm sure other resistance groups would gladly give up their street fighting and such. I"m sure the National Guard wouldn't either. They've been here for almost a week - their highest ranking officer left is a Sergeant.... Welcome to the warzone, sir." With this, Kimberly left.
Five minutes later, a med team rushed a wounded Kimberly to the hospital - a sniper round in her chest, a testament to the dangers of the current warzone.
Tosky Dourchev
Moscow
Kremlin
___
Colonel Dourchev slammed his fist down onto the steel desk.
"We must attack the American's here!" He circled a city on the map of the western seaboard of the United States.
"Non-sense. And calm yourself Colonel. It's unbefitting for one of your rank." The fully dressed Soviet General sipped from his porcelain cup across from his frustrated comrade.
"The American's continue to fight in Japan with unrelenting determination even with the German invasion of the North American continent. Do not fret over this matter however. I've ordered the withdrawal of all active army groups back to the northern part of Honshu. We shall show these Americans the true power of Soviet might."
Somewhere, a clock chimed off the hour. The Colonel understood immediately what the General implied to do to Japan.
"And Stalin approves of this action?" Tosky adjusted his stiff uniform adorned with numerous ribbons and medals.
The General continued to look down at the map, avoiding the eyes of his compatriot, "Comrade Stalin agrees, as do the other commanders of the armed branches. In the long run, taking affirmative action now will save the lives of countless Soviet soldiers. Which brings me to your role in this matter."
The General stood and walked over to a magnificent painting on the wall depicting the Bolshevik Revolution. He pushed it aside to reveal a safe. Opening it with elaborate codes, the General removed two sheets of paper with small envelopes attached to each. He took one and handed the other to Tosky.
The Colonel glanced at the paper, written in Russian code, non-sense to him. The envelope contained a key.
"Go to Vladivostok. Take one of the new jet fighters. You'll receive your instructions once there. And Colonel, if anything may occur, show them this," he handed him a very ornate ring with the crest of the Soviet Army on it, "More valuable than a thousand jets." He saluted. Tosky returned and exited the office.
Turning down some stairs, he proceeded to go to his vehicle outside. Passing a man in a suit, he narrowly missed colliding into him. In that brief chaotic second, Tosky saw the gun hidden within his winter coat. Apologizing, he acted as if he was walking away, but swiftly turned about and followed the mysterious stranger.
Down and down he went into the bowels of the Kremlin, down to the builiding's own heating plant far below the surface. Keeping an eye on his new friend upon a catwalk, steam issued from exhaust valves as the man crept about knowingly looking for something. Eventually, he must have gotten what he wanted for he took off like the hounds of hell were after him.
Tosky dashed after him. As he came up the stairs to his position, he took out his own pistol. Aiming carefully, he fired at the fleeing man, just as the heating room exploded into a ball of fire.
FINALLY ON LAND
**********
Wilhem sat on top of the hatch into the tank, his legs inside of the turret space as the King Tiger hit full-speed down the loading ramp and onto a dock. The tank stopped, and Wilhelm climbed out, and went to the quartermaster.
"Hello there!" Wilhelm said cheerfully.
"Hello to you, too! What do you need?" the quartermaster replied, just as cheery as Wilhelm was.
"I need a MG42 that can be mounted on a King Tiger swivel, 3 200-round magazines for it, a Gewehr 10 and 5 clips for it."
"You're in luck! We have three Gewehrs left, and the MG42 is the last we have of any variant! Is there anything else you need?"
"No, that is all. Thank you." Wilhelm said, and gave the quartermaster 50 Deustche Marks as more thanks. He also looked at the wanted posters lined on a barracks wall. There were some soldiers there, and a female that looked in her mid-20s or so. The description said, "Blonde hair, calls herself the leader of the Empire Resistance".
"Hmm..." Wilhelm said in thought, and went back to his tank, fresh with new guns. He put them both in the hold, and gave the co-axial gunner a magazine.
Wilhelm shook his hat at the gate-guards, who waved back with a resounding "Heil Hitler!". The sergeant smiled and went into the body of the steel beast, and closed the hatch.
"Driver, take the Tiger down this street, take a left, and then proceed at half-speed. If this map is correct, we'll be about 3 blocks from Central Park." Wilhelm said, using a small pocket-flashlight to look at a map of New York, trying to relevate his position. The driver did as told, and turned to the ruins of the Chrysler Building.
Wilhelm was awed... and then alarmed.
"Proceed to cover, lift the shaker, I'll give the pepper!" he commanded, which meant drive to cover, and lift out the MG42 that was to be mounted on the hatch opening. The pepper referred to the magazine-fed gun shooting.
The co-axial gunner lifted the gun up to the main gunner, who gave it to Wilhelm, who had his MG-42 out, looking for any threats.
"Herr Holsteim, it's ready." the main-gunner said as Wilhelm fitted a magazine to the gun and fitted it to the swivel.
"Revolve turret, 8 degrees to the right. Load gun, wait for mark." Wilhelm commanded, fitting his shoulder to the stock of the gun. The turret swivelled towards the Chrysler Building, and the tank commander bravely sat out, looking for any targets to shoot. He thought this was a bit of a waste, so he grabbed a Gewehr 10 from the hold and aimed down the site. He saw a female that matched the description he saw at the dock.
"My chance to give the Germans some honour!" he said, and pulled the trigger, aiming for the woman's chest. Wilhelm crossed himself, and put the Gewehr back into the hold. He ordered the tank to hit reverse, and then make way to Central Park. Wilhelm retreated into the steel skin of this lumbering beast known as the King Tiger of the 7th SS Groß Panzer division, and kept to the observatory port above the main cannon, which was still loaded. You never knew what came out of the deep shadows of a city, and the crew kept this in mind as they drove into the dark paths of this once great, world-renowned location.
OOC: You can take a King Tiger. We're Germans. Male Germans. Honourable male Germans. In other words, we won't shoot a woman, unless that woman has harmed another German, or she happens to be a medic. You have grenades, too. I'm giving you a big fucking hint.
OOC: Reread my post. The woman had killed Germans. She wasn't a medic. My character had a sniper rifle. Kamikazie said a sniper, well, sniped her. I decided to make Wilhelm do it. I don't kill innocent medics or women. You're free to get close to the tank. Can't say the same about your buddies, though.
( Unteroffizier Kurt Steiner )
( New York )
( Under fire from American fire team )
The building rocked under the impact of a high explosive round from the 37mm gun. There were many holes in the wall that stood between Kurt and a deadly hail of BAR and Thompson fire. He poked his head over the window, and spotted four remaining americans. Two men were manning the gun while the other two were raking his builfing with rounds. He raised the STG-44 and sprayed the sandbag bunker again, and ducked down as another artillery round punched a hole in the wall and exploded in the hall way outside the apartment. He grabbed his radio again, this time tuning in the tank frequency.
"This is Unteroffizer Kurt Steiner, under fire from enemy bunker north of Hudson supply docks and east of park number three. Request immediate armor back up. Send in the big tanks!"
The thrid floor was raked with more automatic fire from the Americans, and he heard the distinct loading of the 37mm gun. He jumped up and sprayed the gun with rounds from his STG-44, taking out the loader.
"They have a light AT gun, send a Tiger!"
Paintin' the town red... with American blood
******************
Wilhelm had his eye trained down the observatory port.
"No Allies yet", he thought. "Good. I've killed enough for this damn war."
Suddenly, he heard the radio crackle alive and heard gunshots in the background and a decidedly German voice on the other line.
"This is Unteroffizer Kurt Steiner, under fire from enemy bunker north of Hudson supply docks and east of park number three. Request immediate armor back up. Send in the big tanks!" he heard from the radio.
Wilhelm hesitated for a bit... and keyed the radio.
"This is King Tiger 76 of the Groß Panzer division. I'm currently about 3 minutes from your position. How long do you think you can hold out?" Wilhelm said, and held the receiver to his ear.
"Give or take 10 minutes. Less if they get this 37mm gun back up. Get here as soon as you can!" Steiner answered, and gunshots were heard again before the radio went dead.
"You heard the man. Drive!" he commanded, and the driver did so.
About 3 minutes later, the massive tank smashed through a small building and turned it's turret ominously towards the Americans. A pathetic round from a Mosin rifle literally bounced off the tank's armour, and a 37mm round hit the front, though Wilhelm had closed the observatory.
He opened the hatch and manned the swivelling MG42 and the gun sputtered out rounds as the main cannon launched a powerful 128mm shell, blowing the gun to pieces and killing the men shooting it. Wilhelm quickly finished off the remaining Americans, and proceeded towards Steiner's position.
"Gutentag?" Wilhelm called out.
"Hallo, Königtiger" Kurt Steiner replied.
Kurt limped out of the building he had been using as cover. He wasn't bleeding badly, but he would have a limp for a while. He dropped his STG-44, which had taken a few rounds from the Americans. He approached the King Tiger, and hailed the commander.
"Gutentag, and many thanks for your timely arrival. Another round, and the wall that I was using for cover would have been gone. I've taken a hit, but nothing a medic cannot patch up."
Kurt limped over to the american bodies and began rumaging through their packs. Six rations and three packs of cigarettes were the take, along with twelve 37mm gun shells.
"Ssgt, we can use these in our 3.7cm guns, do you have room in that monster?"
Kurt grabbed a familiar handle from the holster of one of the Americans, and Kurt was suprised to find it was a .25 caliber Walther PP. He checked the chamber and found it loaded. He then stuck it in his jacket and looked around for anything of use. There was nothing. He tossed two of the rations to the Ssgt, along with one of the cigarette packs.
"You deserve it for your timely rescue, Sir. Do you mind if I hop on for a ride?"
Finally some rewards...
************
Wilhelm caught the cigarettes and rations and through the cigarettes down the hatch. Wilhelm didn't smoke, but when he did, he preferred English leaf to American.
"You deserve it for your timely rescue, Sir. Do you mind if I hop on for a ride?" A newly-resuced Kurt Steiner asked.
"Sure. Just be aware that it is quite cramped in there." Wilhelm said, and ordered his driver and main gunner out.
"Men, we have to bury these bodies. The Americans would do the same for us, so we must return the common courtesy." the crewmembers nodded, and they went and got some trench-shovels and started to bury the dead Allies.
It took about a few hours to dig a 6-foot deep trench and lay the bodies side by side, but it was done by sundown. No Allied attacks yet, and the crew and Steiner still had a lot of food and water.
They climbed back into the tank, and Wilhelm looked to Steiner in the cramped tank.
"You'll fill the radio position. We never had a radioman, and I've taken up observer/radioman/tank commander in this tank. So just moniter the frequencies, I'll keep an eye out for everything." Wilhelm said, and got his MP-40, as the tank started up and started down a road back towards Central Park.
Joseph Schneider - General
New York City streets - Foward command center
Bracing for conflict
- - -
Battles had not been going well in New York City. At least not the army's battles. Joseph was still confined to the old way of doing things. He had seen Gurrilla warfare in Japan, yes, but never like this. Never when the enemy could not only be in any direction, but could also be above and below you. Not since Iwo Jima anyway.
Below. That was a trick the resistance had figured out. They had tried to use the city's extensive sewer and subway network against the Germans. Not only had they commandeered almost every train that went through their areas, capturing all the troops and supplies on board, they had also made their bases there. Grand Central Station was quickly dubbed 'Grand Central Command' From here they attacked with impunity, whether they were putting snipers in sewer drains along the roads that the Germans used as major supply lines or inserting agents into barracks from below, it took nearly a week before the Germans realized what was happening. The result was litterally an underground war. Subways became suicide. Armored trains and trains rigged with explosives became common place. Guntrains were sent into resistance bases. Soon, the problem solved itself when more Subway cars filled the subways then could be cleared to make it useful. Gurrilla strikes continued from both sides well after.
As a result, some soldiers spent more time guarding gutters in fear of a resistance fighter, only to be shot in the back from the fifth floor of a building across the street. Tanks became the main form of transport, but it was only a matter of time before they too clogged the roads and war on foot would continue. Either that, or one side will of been overrun by then.
The most recent attack was a spinnoff of a resistance tactic. They had bombed a warehouse from below, setting the entire city block aflame. While troops rushed to defend the now worthless area, the Germans came up from behind.
What they didn't know was that they had come up in front of allied foward command - a heavily fortified eight story concrete building with machine guns and guards on almost every balcony. And that is when hell rained upon the Germans.
When the tracers stopped wizzing through the air, only a few Germans were left alive, flung to the ground from wounds or from fear, surrendering. Their tactic had failed, somewhat, but we had lost valuable supplies. The victory was a small one. Then the King Tigers rolled in. Armed only with looted Panzerfaust and a handful of Bazookas, the resistance scattered into buildings, drawing off fire. With no tanks of their own and nothing to combat that kind of firepower, Joseph retreated back inside the Foward base and did as the resistance did - headed to the sewers, and when the last man was through that was clearly coming was through, he set explosives in a three minute fuse. Just enough time to get away from the blast zone in the cramped tunnel to cause a tunnel collapse. He refused to think of how many he was forced to leave behind to the wrath of the furious Panzer divisions.
( Burying American Casualties )
Kurt nodded and helped to bury the bodies of the Americans. He touched his cross and said a few words when their work was down, and walked over to the King Tiger and jumped inside the cramped tank.
It was cramped true, but all that armor made him feel much safer. He looked to the radio and placed the head set on his head, and then he reached for the MG-42 in the swivel mount in front of him. He drew back the bolt and loaded in a drum of ammunition. Ht bolt slide foreward easily and loaded it up. Just about then, some buzzing came over the radio.
Kurt turned to the commander.
"Sir, a unit is taking accurate and consistent mortar fire. They are northwest of Grand Central Station, and they suspect that the station is the origin of the fire."
Kurt scanned the frequencies again, but no further comm was made. After a second
