View Full Version : We need improvements!

I'll try and wrap this thread up in a nutshell, but what with the complexity of the tactic involved, it may be difficult.

I played a solo game recently, and decided to have a crack at the 'Moon Strategy' - for those of you who don't know, this is a Night-Elf strat, whereby you get mass summons with (normally) Tavern heroes, then they tank for the mass Archers and Druids of the Talon you get. You then get Cyclone and mass Cyclone your opponent's army into oblivion. Anyway, I digress.

I lost. Simple as that. However, my opponent and I were having a chat while he hung back before destroying my base, and we touched on the subject of the Moon Strategy, counters to it and things like this.

Something he said (I can't remember what it was) gave me one hell of a brainwave. What if, in a team game, one person were to use the Moon Strat, and the other person were to go mass Necromancers (Skeletons would tank for the ranged units) and mass Obsidian Statues, all on replenish mana, (save a couple) and then a few Destroyers later to remove any buffs from our opponent's units.

I explained the strategy to my friend, (now called the 'Phoenix Strat'©) and we decided to try it out, against some random people. We came across some fairly good players, but both times we got mowed down anyway, despite managing to hold out until the units involved in the strategy came into play.

We are looking for improvements to the strategy so that it can become world-reknowned! :)

Any comments appreciated.

P.S Another strategy I though of was mass Polymorph. Sound good?

People used mass summons archer dott long before you and long before moon. Its incedibly abusive and pretty much a low skill/fag strat. Orc has no counter to it all except beat the NE before he reaches tier 3. Ne hu ud can counter it fairly easy. Really its only imbalanced vs orc.

And yes mass polymorph works too with AM beast. But like i said it works mainly just vs orc since orc is lacking in the dispel department. In fact it would have beat grubby if he didnt get quake and destroyed the HUs base before he got raped by the HUs army.

Here's a replay of the mass polymorph strat, which my other friend and I have used (We're the WinSome/LoseSome team) to get 3 wins and 2 losses, and it's pretty effective. What we've gone for is the mass summon heroes (double AM then either double BM or FL depending on what we feel like) and foot rush, followed up by Sorcs/Rifles for me and Knights for my friend, possibly w/ Mortars.

It's a Human/Undead team we're facing and we still manage to win, so I'm not arguing.

Sws get cycloned and zerks get cycloned. Then summoned units/archers rape everything else. gg.

Edit- Your opponents that game sucked pretty hard.

I think he was talking about the Polymorph Double Human strategy. They can't get cycloned if neither player is Night-Elf! Well, unless you have a Wand of the Wind, but that's besides the point...

Ok, SWs zerks and docs all get polyed. And its just your heros vs a shitload of summons/casters?
