I'll try and wrap this thread up in a nutshell, but what with the complexity of the tactic involved, it may be difficult.
I played a solo game recently, and decided to have a crack at the 'Moon Strategy' - for those of you who don't know, this is a Night-Elf strat, whereby you get mass summons with (normally) Tavern heroes, then they tank for the mass Archers and Druids of the Talon you get. You then get Cyclone and mass Cyclone your opponent's army into oblivion. Anyway, I digress.
I lost. Simple as that. However, my opponent and I were having a chat while he hung back before destroying my base, and we touched on the subject of the Moon Strategy, counters to it and things like this.
Something he said (I can't remember what it was) gave me one hell of a brainwave. What if, in a team game, one person were to use the Moon Strat, and the other person were to go mass Necromancers (Skeletons would tank for the ranged units) and mass Obsidian Statues, all on replenish mana, (save a couple) and then a few Destroyers later to remove any buffs from our opponent's units.
I explained the strategy to my friend, (now called the 'Phoenix Strat'©) and we decided to try it out, against some random people. We came across some fairly good players, but both times we got mowed down anyway, despite managing to hold out until the units involved in the strategy came into play.
We are looking for improvements to the strategy so that it can become world-reknowned! :)
Any comments appreciated.
P.S Another strategy I though of was mass Polymorph. Sound good?
