I generally don't like linking to news stories, but this thing is awesome! Soon we will be living in the future.

I think it's quite possible -- remember those "scratchy" thingies when you were little that changed when you looked at them from different directions? Just take out the paper and replace it with an LCD screen and you've got something revolutionary.

Seems useless becuase of the sound issues. Ie: they can watch wahtever they want, but they cant... uhm 'hear' whatever they want without headphones or something.

The other problem would be that the screen what need to be cheaper then two seperate tvs -- otherwise why bother?

It looks pretty damn cool and I'm impressed, but as Neo said, what would be the point? I personally wouldn't want to have to watch my TV with headphones . . .

For years we've been trying to perfect big screen televisions so they could be viewed from all angles of the room without fading. Now we're making a TV that does the exact opposite and we're calling it a technological innovation? >.<

My dad showed me an article about this yesterday. So freaking cool! You might say "why bother?" but there are some applications where it wouldn't be completely cumbersome. If you used one of these screens in the dashboard of cars, you could have it look like the navigation/GPS screen from the driver's side and TV or video from the passenger side.

EDIT: Just finished reading the article, they have my example in it >.<

Which is always lame and retarded. The car is not a place for a tv for any reason

Maybe -- MAYBE for your backseat passengers. But there should never be an upfront tv screen.

However I'm sure you agree that the video game example would actually work -- instead of split screen multiplayer, one person sits on the left and the other on the right and voila! Instant full screen two player action! Great for those driving games where half screen just isn't big enough. And you only need one soundtrack for that anyways.

That hardly justifixes being a new screen.

The sound problem would blow...
