To the best of my knowledge; yes.
You should be able to find information about this on the PayPal website...

Credit or debit card, yes. Paypal transfers from your credit account to somebody else's bank account.

A second question: has PayPal suffered any of the old security/fraud criticisms since eBay bought it? Just a curiousity of mine. I'm sure someone else remembers the allegations of fraud within PayPal a few years ago; transactions not ocurring, random accounts deleted with no support afterwards...

One more fast quesiton lol Is this paypal safe and all ?
Paypal is crap, but its really popular.
Make sure you dont get into any sales/purchaes that might be a little off or wierd, becuase paypal has been known to freeze account, take money out of your back account, steal money out right / no response via customer service channels, etc...
Though most people are able to get a response by threatening legal action.
In short -- be careful.

Same go's for all online business, always must be very carefull. Keep your business in the US, if you start going over border you will be more likely to run into trouble.
I wouldnt use PayPal to make payments, only receive, like Neo, I wouldnt trust them.
Major banks with in Australia (Commonwealth Bank, Westpac, National Australia Bank, ANZ) all offer the same sefvice PayPal does now as well, if you go ask your current bank, you may find you don't need to trust a company you don't know.

I've always wanted a pay pal account so I could buy stuff off e-bay... like movies and video games and such but I've always been far to afraid to get one. Oh well, seems like my fears are justified.

I was hoping eBay put an end to that when it bought PayPal, but perhaps my hopes were unjustified.
In fact paypal got worse AFTER they were bought by ebay.
Many people loved paypal a helluva lot better before ebay bought them, only to shun them after ebay took over.

I was under the belief that it required a valid credit card to confirm your payment.
Its got to be a valid card of some sort. Whether its a back/debit/check card or a credit card, they dont care. Its still money.
