Halo 2 by a mile. Just look at the figures. Halo 2 is more popular than UT ever will be.

Halo has a storyline. (Which in my opinion does a very good job.)
They have hundreds of Easter Eggs and places to go.
Halo 2 is just better. Easily. ^_^
UT04 pwns all, nuff said.

Why do you post like that? "A pwns B" or "B sucks ass compared to A" thats just inticing people to get in your face about something.
I like Halo more than Unreal Tournament. I don't know why but the feel that Halo has just brings me to want to play it more than Unreal Tournament. UT is indeed a good game, kickin' graphics and some rather extreme action to boot. Halo has a pretty good storyline, which I'll admit was a little stale at times, but they did an excellent job at it none-the-less. But, I'm a level designer for Unreal Engine based games, ranging from the oldest versions to the newest... so I kind of have a hand in both pots. So I suppose I can sum it up like this:
For play... I chose Halo over Unreal Tournament.
For work, I chose Unreal.
Why do you post like that? "A pwns B" or "B sucks ass compared to A"
Because the question was, if you haven't read the first post, which game is our favorite.
I like both games, but I like Unreal Tournament 2004 more, so I wrote my opinion in five words.
Besides it's only an opinion... it's not like I'm against people who like Halo more, both games are awesome.

no Aquarian, and yeah I get that Aqo, I've just seen stuff like this on other forums and it always errupts into rather explosive flame wars. And I dunno flamewars just annoy me because they're completely pointless. They're two different thing that supply to two different tastes.

Op6 kinda pissed me off with his total dismissal of Halo.
I like Halo better, but i'm not gonna go and say "OH EMM GEE YOU-TEE (UT) SUXX!"
I just prefer the Gameplay, Graphics, and Campaign. :/

UT 2004 and Halo have indeed kind of merged into the same game type, huh? If I'm not mistaken, they integrated the use of vehicles into UT, and its kind of teamplay with capture the flag, DMs and the like- just like Halo. It is fair to compare them now I suppose, but I've just been through my run of forums and I just want to make sure this comes out clean. :)
I'm right there with you Spartan... I just prefer the properties of Halo over UT. Unreal is a great engine, which is very versatle and open minded as far as modifications go. Unreal 2004, I'm ok with it... yes, but I'm more fond of the engine which is Unreal based. I cant edit Halo... I'm not aware if you can create maps and the like for Halo PC version actually. So, lets say that I sleep with both sides! :D
In previous UT's, its always been pretty basic CTF, TDM and simple Deathmatch. But with the demand of more open-ended games like Halo, UT has looked to expand its horizons and include vehicles, gun emplacemants, massive maps and plently of new modes which include character customisations. Halo has had this open-endedness from its creation, including the better part of all these features and then all of them in Halo 2 and then some. I think that both games in the multiplayer aspect (which is the focus of both games. UT2k4 and H2) they are almost identical. But it is Halos plot which separates the two of them. Halo's plot, unlike UT's linear one, is amazing and imaginative and allows Halo to beat UT2k4 by a hair.

UT 2004 wins in my case.
In 2004, you can sit down and play a deathmatch, but in halo, you have to connect to x-box live, play single player or get someone to fight you over system link/ multiplayer. Halo's singleplayer beats Unreal's, But unreals multiplayer is far better then halo 2's, plus it is easier to mod.

What??? That made no sense at all...
Halo 2 has Xbox live.... which means you can do more than a deathmatch (Team slayer in Halo 2 terms), and do many other gametypes and play ranked games. And compared to UT 2004 I rarely have lag. The games are more fun, and the graphics are way better. There really isn't any question. Halo 2 is much better.

Gotta congradulate this guy on his post... that was totally supported and given nicely. Thats how I feel about Halo...
Anyway, hey Bob... I dunno man I think that bots just kind of kill a multiplayer experience. MULTIplayer should be just what it sounds like. A bunch of players coming together to rip eachother into two pieces... or more using whatever means at their disposal. Bots just bring in an unrealistic and sometimes annoying aspect into the game which should be left to a singleplayer challenge. Unless its a unique situation where players are fighting their way through seemingly impossible situations where bots are defending with deadeye aim sniper rifles (IE: C&C Renegade... they have something like that and its bloody fun!)

Bots wouldn't even be good in a Halo game. And considering the fact that Bungie would almost NEVER do bots for a game... I don't see why Halo 2 should be different. On Xbox live, it is almost too easy to find a game. Even if you don't know anyone, you can just go into matchmaking and get games within 10 seconds.

ZDS has spoken my opinion.
Also - Most bots either suck nuts or are super über.
On the highest setting they would get headshots with the Sniper EVERY time. They would ALWAYS know where you are. They could shoot a Battle Rifle like a sniper. So forth and so on. Bot's aren't balanced enough, and will never be as tough or as clever as a human opponent. (Just alot stronger. AKA overshield and incredible aim.)

Indeed. This is relevant to the topic, or not... it depends on which direction you're looking at what I'm saying. For purposes of understanding, I'm gonna say this is just going off on the idea how bots just are NOT the experience that should be had during a multiplayer game.
CS:S... I just posted in a thread about it elsewhere, and I had CS:S on the mind when I came here. The bots in CS... are JUST like you said, SpartanII. If you're playing against easy bots, they're basically cannon fodder. But, if you click the "Expert" tab, you better be in for quite the run for your money. These guys can run at you from a VERY far off distance and in the midst of their sprint, pluck you in the head with the AK-47 in ONE bullet. Now, this can be done by a human player... but for such an event to happen the moons must be aligned, Micheal Jackson must admit he's a child molester, the President thinks about ending the Iraq war (then he quickly dismisses it), and Jenna Jameson thinks about me in a sexual mannor.
...
as you can see... its pretty rare.
The bots pull such stunts on you round after round... and their reaction time is stunning... disgustingly stunning.
Which, brings me to the point. Players are humans... and humans are cunning little critters that are all unique. No bot could ever accurately simulate a human's play abilities and his tactics. Players are so fun to DESTROY! :)

Amen!
I love the fact that you don't have bots in the Halos. Playing against human opponents is always better than bots. Plus, with Live, it's so easy to get huge games together in seconds.
Halo 2 reigns supreme... or at least in my biased opinion

The only way I would condone bots is if they were only available in Non-XBL multiplayer. What I mean is, you get bored with campaign and glitching the hell out of it, so you pop into multiplayer and play a quick game against a bot.

Who plays Unreal with bots? Seriously. Get online or get out. Halo 2's MP still owns Unreal's. Sorry.
Allow me to answer this.
Those people that play Unreal with bots are new to the game. They would rather play against bots where they can actually play without dying every 5 seconds. When they get better with bots, then they move to the online. Either that, or they don't have time to hop online to play a quick deathmatch, so they pull up a Quick Action match with a few bots so they can play in whatever time they have
Now, as for me, not having played Halo 2, I like Unreal much better. True, UT2004 has little to no storyline, but that isn't always what an FPS is made for.

I hardly see how a name denotes anything about the game, and if you have the right gametype on the right map, Halo 2 can be utter mayhem.

If you dont know what im talking about, check down at the bottom of the page where it says "similar threads", and you may find a certain thread entitled "Unreal Tournament vs. Halo", started by, yes, Mr_Accident. Why does it matter where we discuss it? Nobody really cares who started the thread.
And Vhaeraun, getting online in UT2k4 is just as fast as starting a single player game - and I've seen tons of newbie servers for new players. And really, if they're so new that they can't even play with dozens of other players online without feeling undergunned, they should be playing the campaign to get better anyways.

Buddah-
1) Having multiple accounts is a bannable offense.
2) Your thread is OVER two months old. Im sure it's reason enough to start a new thread after all that time.
3) I doubt that your thread was even on the second page of this forum, meaning the creator of this thread didnt see it, and decided it would be fun to create a thread about halo and UT2k4.
4) What you'd do in this situation, rather than having a hissy fit, would be to calmly say "There is already a thread about this, here: www.warboards.org/yourlinkhere"
Calm down, you shouldn't of taken it as an insult in the first place.

at any rate, halo 2 has a better story, but i can pick up ut and go online an literally spend 5-8 hours playing it easily while still having fun.(my most memorable streak was a 17 hour riot with some of the best on the east coast and my neighbor) The only time i devoted this kind of time to halo 2 was when i spent 20 hours (with break for food and dairy queen) with one of my friends to beating it on legendary. Needless to say, we were really tired.
