Due to the many problems at BF and apparent lack of interest, PvR is making it's move to WB.
Party vs Radical is just like any other web based RPG in that you create a character, and insert yourself into the storyline.
There are predominantly two sides. Party, which is an oppressive one world government, controlled by a mysterious man named Prexis. The other side are the Radicals, who oppose the oppressiveness of the Party and it's evil leader. The normal world views them as they are portrayed on the Party controlled media, as terrorists. Other alignment options are available, however, it is better to begin with one of the two current affiliations.
After you have an idea for your character, post his/her specs in the Character Creation thread. And while you may be ansy about getting into the story, it is suggested that you get a grasp of the history thus far.
-------------------------------The History Thus Far (Abridged)--------------------------
The war between the Party and the Radicals has been raging on for decades. The current year is in the 2030 range, though no one is exactly sure. 2 years ago, General AJ, the leader of the Radicals, in an effort to destroy the Party, used a piece of alien technology known as Cataclysm. And while it did a vast amount of damage to the Party, AJ had underestimated it's power.
Cataclysm destroy the vast majority of the major cities of the world, devistating Party and Radical forces alike, and plunging the world into disaster. Due to this destruction, it is virtually impossible to go from one continent to another via normal means of transportation. Air travel is almost non-existant, especially for the Radicals, who lack the funding of the Party.
Technology, also, which had advanced very quickly due to the discovery of alien devices, has regressed back to 'modern day' standards. So if it doesn't exist now, it doesn't in the PvR world, except for some possible exceptions.
The Big Characters:
Prexis: Evil leader of the Party. His intentions are unknown, and he is never seen. Rumored to be extremely powerful in the realm of magicks.
AJ: The leader of the Radicals. Hates the Party with all his heart and seeks to destroy it to the end.
Solistus: An alien from the race known as Solarians, who exist in a completely different dimension. Capable of immense magick abilities. Formerly sided with the Radicals, he later joined up with Traken to take down Prexis.
That's all the characters I'm gonna post for now. When all the old players add their characters to the Character Creation thread, they can go into their background in more detail.
This was a very brief synopsis of the PvR history, and is missing a vast amount. For more background, feel free to talk to AJ, Solistsus, Radlin, Prexis, myself or any of the other veterans for more information on the specific histories of their characters and storylines.
Any other questions, please post in this FAQ and we will try to help as much as possible. :)

I wrote up a spiffy little guide for everyone that's new to this stuff.
http://www.warboards.org/showthread.php?t=137
Edit: Just going to post to post it in here, as I can't seem to get my thread to get stickified :P. Anyway:
Radlin's Unofficial Guide to PvR
I realize that with the recent interest in PvR, we're going to need something quite in depth for the newcomers. This guide will go over the following:
A) How to create a character
B) How to roleplay a character - This will cover powerplaying AKA god-modding, and several other key topics and faux-pas.
C) How to immerse yourself into the storyline
D) An in depth history on PvR
E) Random questions answered in this thread
If you have any further questions, please post them in this thread, and I will edit this post to accomodate the questions.
A) How to create a character:
It can be rather difficult to initially get going in an RP, but once you're moving, the process of writing becomes much easier, and will therefore become an enjoyable task. The first thing you must do, in order to get started in PvR, is to create a character, and a character background for yourself.
Some people find it easiest to relate a character to themself, or someone they know. It is much easier to take the common features and habits of someone you know in real life, and apply them to a fictional character you have made up. If you are familiar with PvR, you may have come across my character, Aralia. When writing Aralia, I rely on my diverse knowledge of the habits of a small creature named Smeagel (otherwise known as Gollum) in Lord of the Rings. Every sentence I type, I think to myself, "Does that sound like something Smeagel would do?" In the long run, I can save a lot of time, simply because I don't have to conjure something totally unique in my own head. I can take bits and pieces of character traits from other people and/or characters, and apply them to my own character.
In PvR, we will only be using human characters. Some of the more experienced players and vets (eg. Soli) are able to use alien-type characters. I will explain why we do this, more in depth, in section D. As a starting RPer in PvR, you are also confined to the use of realistic weapons. In other words, new players are not allowed to use magic, or create super-duper kill everything machines. This is simply done to avoid god-modding. As you become more experienced, doors will be unlocked to you, and you may be able to create a non-human, or a magic-using character. For now, let's just keep it simple.
Now you'll want to decide what path you want to take. You can go in the Party path, or the Radical path. The Party is essentially evil, and the Radicals are essentially good, trying to fight the evil. It is, however, known that the Party uses propaganda and other forms of persuasion to get their citizens to fight for them blindly. Be sure to include whether you want to be Party or Radical in your character description! See section D) for more info on the Party and Radicals.
Next you'll want to make a description for your character. You can put just about anything in your description (including, but not limited to):
* weight
* age
* hair colour
* beer preference
* weapons
* etc.
The sky is the limit with this one. Be as creative as you like, and feel free to add on as much detail as you like. If you want to give even more information, you are always able to create a short story describing how your character is in the situation that you want to put him in. This will allow for easier transition from the "character creation thread", to the actual story threads.
Also Note: If you have been granted certain special priveleges (ie. The use of magick, etc.), it is also necessary that you post that in your character description.
Once you have your character description typed up, head over to the thread Traken made here:
http://www.warboards.org/showthread.php?t=106
B) How to roleplay a character:
Many people new to PvR polish off their character's description, creating a massive background story, and a giant array of qualities, but then find themselves lost as to what to do next. You may find yourself hacing trouble jumping into the scene, or you may just not know how to RP at all. This section is built to clear up that confusion, and will cover some RP basics as well.
Roleplay
v : perform on a stage or theater; "She acts in this play"; "He acted in "Julius Caesar"; "I played in "A Christmas Carol"
The exact definition of roleplaying is to act, in a theatrical sense. We're doing virtually the same thing in PvR, except we act through our writing. In other words, we create a giant story, by acting through our individual characters. Our characters represent a certain character in the play, and they each help to contribute to the giant story (AKA the play itself).
Part i : Chapters and roleplay style
PvR is using a story-intensive roleplay style. In other words, we rarely take time to record hitpoints, and use named spells and items in our inventory, as some Roleplays do. Instead, we focus on the story content. Like any good book, we attempt to create rising action, climaxes, humour, satire, irony, etc. We try to make something that's enjoyable to read for the other RPers, and also contributes to the story.
PvR's story usually starts from one stem, and then branches off into several smaller stems that are run by the various RPers. These stems are normally based on location, but can also be based on political standings (Party/Radical) and story stem completion. In each stem, there is usually one main problem, which all of the characters are either contributing to, or attempting to stop. The completion of this problem, usually leads to another story stem.
To simplify this: Look at each new thread as a stem. Look at each stem as a chapter in a book. As one chapter finishes, another will arise. Instead of having a book that flows in a linear motion (eg. chapter 1-8), we will have several chapters going at the same time.
Part ii : Roleplay terms and faux pas
*god-modding - The act of creating a god-like character, who has the ability to crush any enemies, and uses this ability frequently. It is not allowed in PvR, as it generally takes all the fun out of the game.
*Stealing the spotlight, or interrupting a delicate storyline - Although you may really want to jump into a storyline and show everyone your RP'ing skills, you have to be certain that you're not ruining something that those people have been building up. Before you hop into a thread, read a bit of the thread a try to understand how each character in the story stem acts, and where they will likely go with their story. Your first post in the thread should introduce your character to other characters, without greatly changing the storyline. As you become familiar with the storyline, you will have a chance to change the storyline as you want.
*OOC posts - OOC stands for "Out of Context", and is generally a post that has little, or nothing to do with the actual storyline. These are used to ask questions like, (OOC: Who's that strange guy you just introduced in your last post?).
*Controlling other people's characters - This is somewhat of a delicate issue, as some people don't mind to have other people touch their characters, while other people are furious when people do. Before making any real moves with another person's character, just make sure it's alright to have control over their character for a post. Many times this sort of control is needed to get a storyline moving along.
*Making completely asinine posts - If you have nothing good to contribute, don't contribute at all. I don't want to see any "And then I nuked the world, gg lolz0rz i rock!!!!!111" posts.
*Character Development - Don't be so worried that you have to move the story along, that you never have any time to develop your character. It's impossible to RP with a bunch of people that act the same, and have the same history, so this IS quite important.
*Use of flashbacks, zips ahead in time or meanwhile posts - Sometimes it's necessary to look back at one character's past, or to jump ahead three hours for a post to be relevant. When these situations occur, it is always nice and neat to use the following format:
---------------------------------Three Hours Later---------------------------------
Part iii : An example of roleplaying
This is a short excerpt from a post I made in the old PvR. I will rip it apart to help you understand how to go about posting:
Adrian woke up sometime around noon the next day and slowly eased himself out of bed. He looked around, but couldn't see anyone in the room, or outside of room. As the smell of fresh bacon and eggs engulfed his senses, Aralia took over his body.
"Fooooood!", he screamed, and began sprinting down the hall.
As he ran towards this amazing smell, Party soldiers snuck their heads out of their rooms to see a strange mutant sprinting down the hall. Many of them dismissed it, simply thinking it had been another of the Party's "projects".
Aralia ran right into a small kitchen-like area, to find various high-ranking officers around him. Ignoring the fact that this had been a private breakfast, he jumped on the table, grabbed as much food as he could, and ran out the door.
One of the generals, Trevor Harbanette whispered, "What the hell was tha . . . "
Just as he finished his sentence, Traken walked into the room, and said slyly, "Don't worry about it."
Trevor seemed ecstatic at the arrival of his long-time friend Traken, and greeted him, "Oh hey there Traken". He pressed on, "So is that thing safe?"
Traken rebuttled somewhat annoyed, "Don't worry about it."
-----------------------------------------------Meanwhile----------------------------------
Aralia ran screaming down the halls with his arms full of bacon, eggs and toast, "FOOOOOOOOOD!"
As he sprinted down the halls, he noticed Brewer in the corner of his eye, but proceeded with his sprint. Brewer poked his head out a door, and sighed with relief, "Thank Prexis, I'm safe."
Aralia continued his jog until he reached the area in which he slept earlier. He hopped on the bed, layed out the food and began eating.
As you may have noticed, this thread uses several different RP writing tools. The following tools were used in the above story excerpt:
* Character development - I used this semi-neutral time in the story to add a bit of development to my character. Aralia is once again portrayed as a crazed, food-driven creature.
* Attempt to create humour in order to stray away from more serious matters - As we prepared for a giant missile attack, my character was running through the halls with bacon and eggs . . . strange?
* Slight use of other characters, in order to encorporate them into the storyline. By mentioning other people's names, it gives them something to do, so they can actually feel important. It gets pretty boring if you have to RP by yourself because nobody helps bring you into the story.
C) How to immerse yourself into PvR
So, you want to make your first post, but you have no clue how to? It's actually quite simple, and you'll find it gets easier and easier as you work within PvR. It just takes a bit of time to get to know other people's characters, and to understand the storyline. Before I go off on another rant, I would advise you: DO NOT MAKE YOUR OWN STORY THREAD IF YOU ARE NEW TO THIS! This is the #1 mistake for new people in PvR. More on that later.
First, and foremost, you should read the history in section D). From there, I would advise you to read up on the thread that you plan to post in. Attempt to learn as much as you possibly can about the storyline, and then give your entry a shot. If all goes smoothly, someone in the story will notice the post, and help encorporate you into their story.
If your first post doesn't go according to plan, and you're still left out in the cold, DON'T GIVE UP. Just keep trying to make a connection. Keep posting your character's story, and keep including other character's names in your posts. Eventually someone will mention you in their post, and you'll eventually be led into a greater storyline, where you have more option, and more oppurtunity to actually shape the storyline. If you want to enjoy PvR, it is necessary that you do not just stay outside the main storyline, without contributing to anything. Eventually you'll realize you're writing yourself a novel, having no impact on the greater scheme of things, and you'll end up quitting PvR (trust me, I know :P).
Now, as to why a new person should not make their own thread:
Often times a new person to PvR will write a really great character description, and then make their own storyline, thinking people will just flood to it. This is never the case. If someone is already immersed in a storyline, they will not just pick up and leave to join you. Make it easy for yourself and just play in the main storyline. From there branch off to separate stems.
Once you actually get into a storyline, where you have a group of people you know you can RP with, you're set. From there you can help develop your own character, or add on to the storyline as you like, and people will actually take your posts into account. You will be a main character in the story :). Congrats!
D) An In-Depth History of PvR
As I am not one of the oldest, most legendary PvR posters, I do not know the history 100%, but this section will give you the knowledge you will need to post in PvR successfully. I will also take quotes from older forum posts to explain this more thoroughly than I would ever be able to.
Section i : A General History
The Beginning:
The Party had risen to power in most of the world, but were being resisted by small groups around the world. The Radicals, as they became collectively known as, feared that Aurora's plots would extinguish freedom and civil liberty worldwide. They united in the United States sector under the first Organized Resistance Facilitator (ORF), AJ (or was it Sin? ). Together, these Radicals escaped Earth to an abandoned research base on the Moon (henceforth to be known as Luna), where they revived an old weapons project (the infamous "Moon Rock Launcher" heh.... PvR was a bit less serious then). With this weapon, the Party's dominance was kept at bay, and much of the Western hemisphere became free.
The Middle:
With the Radicals controlling enough of the world to become a real threat, the Party elevated its war from capturing and Re-Educating to actual ground warfare. The war was brutal, and stretched on over many phases, going back and forth. Technology on both sides flourished, especially on the Radical side. Sin, an influential Radical, developed technology unlike the world had ever seen, which he used to further the Radical cause from his second Luna (which he gated in from an alternate dimension). Among the technological advances he created was teleportation, a powerful tool that would escalate the war to new heights.
As the war dragged on, a new dramatic development unfolded. Solistus, a Radical from the outset, revealed himself to be a Solarian- an interuniversal 'race' that existed to fight off evil forces theat threatened the Multiverse. Cut off largely from the world outside our own Universe due to an unknown accident, Solistus found himself stranded here many years ago. Worse, there was a great threat to the Multiverse here, that he would now have to face alone- the Party member known as Mage Prexis. Using his now limited magical powers and those of Dark Eagle, he set out to destroy Prexis.
By this time, many planets had been colonized for use in the war. Venus had been made into a mage training facility by Solistus and Dark Eagle; Mars was a Party stronghold. Luna remained contested territory for a long time until the Radicals finally won out, and distant Pluto was home to a tiny neutral shipyard.
The war continued to grow more destructive, with weapons that could wipe out entire planets being developed on both sides. ORF AJ realized that humanity itself was at risk, and made a fateful decision: to unleash the Cataclysm Project.
Cataclysm was a weapon of immense power, greater even than AJ had realized. Every artificial satellite around Earth and Luna was destroyed. Most of Earth's Surface was devastated, with few pockets of life left. While Earth had once been home to nearly 8 billion people, it was estimated that little over 1 billion remained alive, and the actual number could be much lower. Technology was back decades, with virtually no intercontinental travel or communications. The Party maintained control over Asia and much of Europe, while the Radicals regrouped with hopes of reconquering America.
Section ii : Background information on the Party and the Radicals
The Party!
-The Party is essentially fascist. Aurora (the founder) had a vision of a unified Earth, where there was no conflict, because everything was under one strong central command- him.
-The Party does not place high values in humanitarian concerns. They don't like to waste manpower or destroy productive civilian zones, but they would have no qualms in say, allowing a disobedient commander to die behind enemy lines, or blowing up a residential district to take out a dangerous Radical.
-The Party believes that the Radicals are simply misguided. They try to Re-Educate most people (largely because if they killed dissenters, people would be scared of them. They want to seem nice), but they won't bother with 'war criminals' such as AJ or myself- we get a bullet to the head ASAP, no needless risks of escape.
-The Party does not tend to go on rescue missions, unless the personthey need to rescue is very, VERY important.
-Ranking Party officials have been known to send conflicting orders for personal gain; corruption rns rampant just below the glamorous surface of the Party military.
-The Party, as I stated above, does not like to lose troops. Therefore, reasonable efforts are taken to protect their soldiers.
The Radicals!
-The Radicals are a group of mainly liberal people who believe in the "old" American custom of freedom of speech. They formed around the same time as the Party started trying to unite the Earth in a communist style, but were kept at bay for some time.
-The Radicals believe that life should be preserved as best as it can be, often taking into consideration the "leave no man behind" policy used by old US military. They treat all in their ranks humanely, but are often poorly equipped to give the men adequate supplies (munitions and rations).
-Radicals behave much like America used to, only much more moralistic given the fragile relations caused by the war. Inspirational speeches are given with true passion from every general in the Radical ranks.
-Unlike the Party, Radicals often redistribute troops to a unit or even a single squad in distress, making the soldiers more secure with their government's loyalty.
-Originally thought of as a "cleansing for the planet" AJ ordered a massive nuclear assault that levelled many publicly know Party HQs, unfortunately suffering more casualties than ever predicted by the tacticians. Some factors included the satellites being destroyed during the same attack.
Section iii : Tidbits of information that may or may not be useful
as for statistics.... we never agreed on any. Suffice it to say, no country had enough manpower of infastructure left to function. Like Anarchy 99's plan in xXx
The Venus base WAS in fact Solarian. Little is know about it- Solistus chose its location because no one, not even the Radicals, could spy on him. His projects there were... classified.
Mars was a small Party base, not a largescale terraforming deal. It is assumed in PvR that some of our FTL travel tech leaked to the Party, and if we could get to Mars quickly and wanted to set up a base we could in short order even now- it would just be ISS with land to build on, easier than the space station once transportation is worked out.
AJ's Cataclysm was meant to destroy Party bases, roads, communications lines, etc. The power was amplified, maybe by Prexis (he's crazy and evil, but coldly calculating- he would forsee that the damage here would hit AJ harder than himself), maybe by miscalculation, and entire cities war targetted as well.
The Party is seen as 'evil' because it uses old Fascist and Communist tactics or repression, but its (original) goals can be seen as good by some. Think Star Wars- many Imperial officers and even troops thought the Empire represented justice and order; the Rebels saw it as brutal and oppressive.
-Pluto was destroyed in the war
-Venus is believed to be abandoned; some tech might exist but we're centuries from being once again able to enter Venus... or are we? (open for the future) Venus is, was, and always will be a very enigmatic place, and only Solistus knows what was going on even when it was in contact with Earth
-Mars was mostly abandoned in the later stages of the war. There might be some bunkers and slightly more advanced weaps, along with a few refugee Party soldiers, but not a lot
-Luna is currently ripe with old equipment, but there is nothing close to a spaceworthy vessel in existance yet

Hey guys... I'm not here to continue with PvR unfortunately... However, I figured I would throw some info out on the characters and sections of PvR that I added to the origional story.
I hope these aren't spoilers for anyone but I'm sure you can all restrain yourselves from meta gaming.
{{The following are sections of PMs that I sent to clarify things with people. use what sections you want, discard the rest...
Well, The legion is welcome to be around if it helps your story but I have not introduced it into PvR with the exception of I think the 3rd PvR incarnation a few years ago. But that was because Prexis was practically the only Party member at the time.
The problem is that we keep stepping back in time. When Prexis and the third legion were introduced it was about 2115 or something I think, Cus I don't think we had been stepping back at that point.
Origionally The Party and the third legion were two seperate entities. Prexis fed alien technology to Aurora corp. who then made major advances in space exploration. Aurora corp. colonized Mars and exploited its rescources. Prexis continued to feed Aurora corp. technology in exchange for rescources, part of which was given to the Black skull legion in exchange for their alien technology and the rest used to build their own fleet. Prexis wormed his way into Aurora corps business and started to influence them towards politics. Aurora then formed the party and was quickly able to gain major political support worldwide. Prexis used the Parties political standing to root out the Order of Light. The magi were exposed and alienated. Scattered and persecuted the Order was left in shambles and shortly after supressing the Mars uprising the party began to rule the world with an iron fist. This was the basic backstory leading to PvR version 3. The Radicals had been fighting the party leading the uprising on mars and attempting to fight on earth till the Order of light was scattered. The radicals had been forced to their moon base and were trying to regroup and wait for the solarian fleet to push into the system.
As for the third legion, with most of the world scared of Magi the third legion has remained underground, aiding the party when nessecary. Their regulars were brought into the Party as they had no magic ability, occasionally a few magi are called up to supress pockets of resistance that are aided often by Order of Light mages.
This is the portion of PvR that I adapted to my own film as well as the story that followed that line till PvR died off

You mentioned 2115. I had thought that the year was 2030 or 40... Did that just get screwed up? When did cataclysm occur? Guess I got a little confused.
Oh and since I'm talking to the man, I may as well ask you. How do you think Prexis would treat my character? Eventually, I'm going to have to use Prexis in a storyline, and I want to get it right.
The timeline has always been messed up, I forget when the first story took place, I think it was 2015 or something, with a moon base colony hurling moon rocks at earth..., every time PvR died off we would start it up 20-30 years later.
The timeline for My film starts in 2043, assuming that alien technology from the black skull legion as well as technological advances from the Order of light rapidly sped up the advancement of technology as a whole.
Soli may better recall the odd timeline that we once had, I honestly am just guessing at dates here.
The great cataclysm I think is something that was thrown in to keep technology back. I'm not sure what it's all about, only a more recent addition to PvR. We always let things get out of hand in the first few incarnations, where people were commanding fleets of super advanced spaceships
On to the third Legion and Prexis...
Prexis is 600 some odd years old as I said before.. He was more commonly known as Prexis the Damned back in the day. As I said on the forums Prexis founded the Third legion. But before the third legion there were two others.
This is where the Lord of Rage and the Hell gate come in.
Known by The order of light as Lord Rage. The Lord of Rage has no real name of his own anymore, having been lost over a billion years ago. This creature is ancient.
It is the first being to ever posess Magic as it is known on earth. It is a large demonic creature. Summoned to earth thousands of years ago by the early magic users of the time. Their minds were easily corrupted. Lord Rage Awoke in this new world. but he had known it before, long ago. He knew what he had to do. So he gathered others. Corrupting the minds of many early Magi.
The order of light was formed to stand in his way.
These times were religious ones to say the least. The lord of Rage appearing almost as the devil himself. He Formed the first legion but many Religious factions around the world opposed him. After hundreds of years of fighting these groups the world changed, The order of light had officially been formed. A society of Magi sworn to protect people from the devil himself, Lord Rage. But the third legion grew as well. And lord rage had found what he was looking for.
The order called it the Hell gate. Essentially thats what it was. Lord rage had Hordes of Demons on the other side waiting to be awoken.
Magi had been able to summon in a few Demons from this world but it was a time consuming and draining task. The gate allowed for them to walk right in. This is Lord Rage's true army, An ageless army that had lay in wait for billions of years to exact revenge on a lost race.
I suppose now is a good time to explain what Magic really is. I don't tell many people this stuff because this is the heart of my story. I hope it doesn't ruin anything for you, but I guess it's like reading the book before seeing the movie.
magic in a genetic anomaly. Magic as it is known for the people of earth (the solarians are a different case) is the result of ancient terraforming technology. An advanced alien Race came to earth in it's infancy to experiment. They studied terraforming, genetic creation and manipulation as well as Dimensional manipulation.
This race had used what is known now as Mana to manipulate the earth, creating something from nothing, an amazing technology they used to terraform their new worlds. They also found ways to duplicate planets in alternate dimensions. These advances made theri rscources unlimited and spawned greater advances expanding them further throughout the universe than any other race.
An Alien known as Mnk' was a great scientist, a genious in all of the areas I mentioned above. But his dabbling in Genetic manipulation is what got him exiled.... to make a long story short he Created Lord Rage who killed several scientists on a space station orbiting earth. He was exhiled to an alternate version of earth along with his creature. Rage is a helish place, one of the early terraformin nightmares, to this day it remains volcanic and unevolved. There he built an army. He was bent now on revenge againgst those who would see him exiled to this hell. But he was locked in, Gates bettween earth and this alternate version of earth were locked by those who had him exiled, so he could never return.
He sucked his planet dry of rescources as he built his army of ageless demons and his own new planet. Before his body gave out on him through age he was able to transfer his being into a highly advanced machine. He had constructed a small planet of his own designed to tear into alternate dimensions. Him plan was to tear through to earth and open the hell gates unleashing his armies among his old people.
Something went wrong. He tore through the dimensions and they collapsed. The safeguards preventing him from leaving his dimension were greater than he had thought. he never made it to earth but instead collapsed many other dimensions. These alternate planets from all over the galaxy collapsed into each other his whole race of people were lost in the massive influx of planets as the collided and merged with each other. Earth was one of the lucky few this had not happened to but even it reverted to it's magmatic state. an entire alien race was destroyed save for Mnk' and his armies that wait on the planet Rage. Mnk' dissapeared, giving orders to Lord Rage to wait. Mnk' didn't know what happened what had gone wrong so he went into hibernation and phased into his own private dimension. He had gone insane over the years. Lord rage did as he was told, And took over command of the ageless army waiting for the gate to open.
when he was summoned to earth billions of years later he knew what he was to do. which brings me back to where I was.
Lord Rage found the gate , one of the few pieces of technology remaining from the lost alien race. When he finally was able to open it, it didn't stay open long, The order of light has gathered a massive army to hold back what they thought were demons from hell (hence the name of the gate) They thought the devil himself was attempting to bring it's armies to destry earth. which wasn't far from the truth really. They fought the demons back to the gate. The gate was small and it took time to bring the demons through. The gate was closed and the Order of light had defeated the armies of hell. But Lord Rage remained along with His general, Draconias. and they rebuilt.
Around a thousand years ago They formed the first and second legions. 500 years ago they made a move to the gate. This time the Order of light was protecting it, preventing access to it.
The order of light also had help this time. The tarthall order of Life. An order of Monks, few possesed magical abilities but they were ancient monks. They were able to do what few could and focus the very energy of life itself. This gave them potential to be more powerful that even the Magi.
The first and second legions pushed and pushed hard making it to the gate but in the end they were defeated but the loss on both sides were great. Tarthall the order of Life's founder and most powerful Monk was dead, defeated at the hands of Lord Rage himself. Lord Rage was also defeated by Tarthall. Forced back through the hell gate he was actually thought to be dead. Many of the old Magi of the Order were dead as well. Most of the inner council had lost their lives. But this time they destroyed the hell gate. Not willing to risk it ever being opened again.
Draconias escaped and went into hiding, entombing himself for a thousand years in hopes of awaking and starting anew. Prexis had joined the second legion and made his way to general before the second legions defeat at the hell gate. He too escaped but he reformed the legions as The Third legion.
He took the third legion underground and rebuilt in secret. He researched ancient lore and sought to bring back The Lord of Rage
Prexis began by awakening ancients. old Magi who had gone into hiding after the first big war. Then He met the black skull legion. The black skull legion were once solarians, exiled for their abuse of well everything. (soli knows more on this group) He promised them rescources for a fleet in exchange for technology. He experimenting with genetic augmentation of mana, to increase his power. It worked.
Over the past hundred years he has finally managed to Re summon the Lord of Rage, and he has awoken Draconias and rebuilt the third legion and is working with the party as I said before.
But there is one more thing. The hell gate.
After years and years of searching he found the second gate. Built on a massive scale it has been split by continental drifts. The parts of it can be used to teleport between and he used them to travel across the world undetected by the order of light. He now seeks a way to bring them back together and open this gate. A gate large enough to bring massive armies in all at once.
again as I said this is all from the basic back story that my films are based on. of course most of this isn't actually revealed till the end of the three films.
Onto prexis' behavior
He's an ass hole, He seeks power. i see him very much like Darth vader only worse... there is no good in him. His childhood was cursed as he was shunned by all for his appearence as a child, his black eyes that absorbed the light around them and his pale skin made him appear possesed by the devil. His own family abandoning him. He later found them and killed them. Lord Rage embraced him and his gift for magic. and for that Prexis remains loyal though after his augmentation with Dragon genetics and mana augmentation his power may even surpass the ancient Lord Rage. He is very arrogant. not sure what else to say. }}
All of this is more or less How the Dark Eagle universe exists (PvR was a heavy influence and vice versa) Apply it to the PvR universe as you wish.
I'll check in on the forums here to keep up to date on PvR so feel free to PM me with questions if you have any regarding Magic, Prexis, the Third Legion, or Dark Eagle and the Order of Light. Hope this all helps.

Rats, and I was hoping my character trained under soli, would eventually get to face the great Prexis.
Actually I was hoping that he would dominate me and pit me to assassinate my great teacher Solistus. This is too bad DE. I wish you would join in. Considering AJ doesn't really play anymore either, the two great leaders of the party and radicals aren't there to play their characters.
and where the hell is tragic and soli? lol.

Heh I haven't been around for a while But I welcome you all to include my characters into the storyline. I know Prexis has been used without me for months now.

Well yeh, of course, but I would have liked to see you play him. Shows his true personality.

As for the date, I was told to assume it was around 2030, so before it died out for the first time on BF, I assumed it was 2028, and starting with Return, Rebirth, it was 2030. That's the year I've been using.

Are we over here now? As far as PVR is concerned, Espy?
Hmmm... I read the beginning guide, and feel I must join. It looks so interesting. I might as well jump in. If you all have no problem with it, I will create my character now, and try and get in. Just give me this: Are duel handguns acceptable forms of weapons?
Also, if I am here only a few times a week, is that enough right now, or do you prefer me here every stinking day of the year? I mean, I can make it that way if needed, but currently, my projects of map making for SC, RPing in other areas, school, and as of right now, our musical: 'Your a Good Man, Charlie Brown!', it's hard to fit things in. If I can be here a few times a week, posting when I can, count me in. if not, I will wait to jump in for a few weeks.
Another thing: When I have to post my side, can I be concidered 'Mercenery that joined the Radicals' or something of that nature, or would I have to be 'Radicals' only? If I can go Mercenery, that would add more depth to my character and such. It would also give me a nice jump start to my bio. If for instance, I was straight 'Radical' it would be interesting, but nothing like my merc. If I were merc, I could add in 'Although I disagree with things, I do it anyways' and such, you know? Just something to ask...
Anyways, Yea, get back to me on those questions, and I will take info from them, and join up. Sounds like a good new RP thing for me to jump right into! ^.^

P.S. Sorry if 1) This was posted in the wrong area, as I'm newbie in this land x.x and 2) If some of this sounds stupid, but I like to make sure ;)

Sorry it took so long to reply Geno. I didn't see your post.
Yes, dual handguns are acceptable. I'm not that fond of them, since most people aren't going to be able to wield them properly, but as long as you don't say dual .50 cal Desert Eagles, then it should be fine.
No, you don't need to be here every waking hour. Just bear in mind, that if you get yourself into an active part of a story, people mind wind up being dependent on you posting to move the story along. If there is more than two or three people, you should be fine. :)
Yes, you can be a merc. The main reason they are frowned upon, is they are harder to play, and it's better to stick with one of the two sides. What you proposed sounds fine, though. :)
Alrighty. Thanks for clearing it up. And don't worry about the duel handguns, as they are going to be very cheap things... I'm no weapons expert, but let's just say they won't be Magnums or something... ;) (I play Goldeneye too much still... Even though it's the oldest friggin game ever... o.O)
Thanks for the quick (?!) Reply :)

Err, I have a question too. I want to join, but there are a few things I would like to know:
1. Can my character be unaffiliated in a way? I already have someone in mind. He wants to carry out the Radicals' mission, but he can't afford to actually join them. So, he attempts to help carry out every Radical mission by popping in when needed, and actually knows through spying what missions might be going on.
2. Can my character have "custom" weapons built by him? I was thinking of a machine-pistol that has a short clip but fast firing, and a machete for when he's emptied his gun. I decided that my character actually built these weapons (he did nothing but research for about 1/4th of his life) and managed to make efficient and powerful weapons with whatever material he could get his hands on (he's poor).
EDIT: Wow, Geno, you're into this too? Cool! Hopefully our characters can run into each other at some point.
I hope to be in... If this ever gets off the ground... o.O :p

Cool. Luckily, it seems this already has gotten off the ground... Pray it doesn't come crashing down.
And Geno - I've always wanted to say this. I downloaded a ROM of Super Mario RPG a while ago and saw the real Geno. Personally, he's my favorite Mario character; smart, shifty, enigmatic, has a gun for an arm... Basically, a great guy to have in your sig. Geno's awesome. GO WOODEN ROBOTIC PUPPETS COME TO LIFE!!!

Although we prefer that you start as either Party or Radical so you can get into the swing of things, you may do that.

Due to the wide-spread damage caused by cataclysm, it would be extremely difficult for a single person to have the equipment to construct custom weapons. If you were elite Party, it would be more feasible due to the amount of money and resources available to them.

My guy is dirt poor and, what's more is Radical at heart. I guess I'l stick to reality, then.
EDIT: I can't find a way to graft my new character I made (check the creation thread) into either of the two current stories. Am I allowed to make a thread of my own?
Traken

You could, but trust me, it's very boring to be alone, and you may be alone for a while if you start your own. One tactic you can use, is to just put yourself alone in one of the current threads, and someone will steer the story towards you and give you an opening.
I shall do the same thing. In some upcoming event (After this musical is done, trust me, it will be a while... x.x), I might just kind of 'Almost get hit by a bullet going by me, which happens to be from a Party vs. Radical fight ;)' which can bring me into the story. Also, check my char, and tell me if anything needs changed. I can understand if the magazine on my gun needs dumbed down, but I thought it could be fine... o.O Also, I only carry my magazine and one extra in my coat pocket, if that is any relavent information... o.O

Well, a 40 round magazine for a pistol is kinda infeasible. It would wind up being around 2 feet long. If you're interested in a sub-machinegun with a decent rate of fire and capacity, you might want to look into an Ingram Mac10. It comes in multiple calibers, including .45 and 9mm, with carrying capacities of 30 and 32 rounds, respectively. It has a rate of fire of around 1100 rounds a minute. It should be more than decent for spraying a target full of holes in a span of a 2 seconds. ;)
Hmmmm... I'm more or less looking for an extended magazine with no automatic shot... More like James Bond's PP7 pistol, except being able to hold more rounds... Also, I don't want it to be a high powered gun, something that can only tear through one or two bodies, you know? I will pretty much rely on my Assassin skills... o.O

A Glock 17 is a single shot 9mm pistol, which can use a 31 round magazine. That may work better for you, then.

Sorry abt reviving this thread.
I have a question: Would it be ok if my character used swords (katanas or scimitars)?
I ask this because most of the characters i make include swords as weapons. I have a better understanding of swords than i do of guns.
Traken

Revival of this thread is not a problem. It's here for that reason. Swords are fine, though what you have to realize is that to use a sword, you have to get close. And it's going to be hard to get close to someone who's spraying a bunch of lead at you. But what your character uses is up to you, within reason.
If you do want to use guns, I'd be more than happy to help you with info.

I'll need some info on guns, if you could Traken.
Vhaeraun, my characters has some kris blades (which are more evil knives than swords) and a katana. However, he doesn't really use them, although I managed to use the kris blades once.

What are you looking for in a gun, WK? Do you have a specific thought on what you'd like to have? A sub-machine gun, a rifle, or something else?

Alright, Traken.
I was thinking abt a pair of pistols, and a second pair of small, hand-held, machine guns (small enough to be held in one hand) Any types you can recommend?
Traken
08-01-2004, 11:08 PM
Well, if you wanna kill two birds with one stone, you could get a pair of Glock 18's. They're fully automatic 9mm pistols with a 32 round clip.
Are you going to go Party or Radical? Generally speaking, what side someone is on will dictate the weapons that are available.

Then I would suggest the Glock 18's. They would probably be available to Radicals and seem to fit your needs rather well.

Pistols would be nice. Also, sniper rifle type guns I would like.
