I was playing on a comp stomp one time, my intention was to bs of course. It turns out there were 2 bsers aside from myself already in the game, they allied and began taking out everyone. I, of course, joined in the trio and kinda just stayed to myself.

One of the other 2 decided not to AV, and started destroying the other one, who was crying out "don't trust him, kill him now blablabla". The one Bser of the Bsers kept telling me "i won't kill you, your stronger than this player... bla bla bla " and all that garbage. I unallied the one guy.

Before he unallied me back, I placed a colony near his minerals, he never even saw it, and didn't put any hostile units near it, so it was completed and I moved my entire army of hydras/lurkers through it. Bad day for that kid.

I've since used this strategy on more than one occasion, tho haven't in awhile, since I haven't played sc in a bit... what's your opinion on this tactic? do you/would you ever use it? (it's ZvZ only, of coure.)

You mean nydus canal, not colony. In a 1v1 zvz it's almost completely useless because games hardly ever last to the hive tech stage. It can work well in ffa's or team games if you get lucky, but it's not something I would rely on.

Nydus mostly is used in island maps ZvT where you need to get your hydras moving around, since you can't use ovies due to massive valk pwnage.

yes...surprises of mass hydra-lings often catch me unnoticed while i was cleaning off an opponent's expo...hate it when that happens....

That's why you look at the minimap periodically....notice the oddly colored dot in the middle of your base. Catch it warping and destroy it. Simple as that.

Of course, maybe it's cause I play LotR (if you aren't careful and vigiliant, you can lose to ops in less than ten minutes).

10 Minutes? I can op some things in less than one.

It also depends on what map..

SiKawtic - If your enemy has any intelligence, he won't fall for that trick.

Yes, it depends on the map. For example, it'll take you about an hour to just op one spawn in TFC...
