Whiteknight

Guidelines/Rules:
Please read this tutorial (http://ry4an.org/diptutor/) if you do not know how to play Diplomacy.
You are limited to participation in 4 games and GMing 1 game.
Only 6 games will be held at a time. Imperial and Twentieth Century count as 2.
2 exhibition games can be held in addition to the other 6, but you may not be in an exhibition if you are participating in a game already. It is for those waiting for a ranked game.
If you wish to add your game to the game queue, you must contact Whiteknight. If you would like to GM a larger game, you must first prove you are a competent GM by GMing a smaller one first. Games are added in the order of the game queue.
Please refrain from non-score related posts in this thread. If you have any questions, feel free to PM Whiteknight.
When you join a game, make sure you commit to it. If you frequently join games and leave in the middle, you may be subject to a temporary or permanent diplomacy ban.
Please note that if you are inactive (not participating or trying to join a game) for one month, your rank will be removed from the scoreboard.
Players who are in fewer active games and those who are not participating have precedence when a new game starts up.
Games are considered inactive if a map fails to be put up 2 weeks after the deadline, in which time it will be removed with a new game in it’s place.
Exhibition games do not count for points. As a result, they will be used mainly for people only in a few diplomacy games, waiting for a spot to open up.
The amount of games allowed will increase as the diplomacy forums grow. When enough games make it to the queue, or many players profess their interest, another slot will open.
If you are new and wish to play, and no current games are open, PM Whiteknight and I can work something out.
Game Master Notes:
When your game starts, please post in this thread in the following format:
Name of Game
Status: Awaiting Players | Started | Cancelled | Ended
GM: You!
Player (Country/Power): Start Date -> Elimination Date, Beginning # SCs -> Ending # SCs, Most SCs: Highest # SCs, Draw: In/Out (if applicable)
If you are to be a GM, you MUST fill this out and edit it as your game progresses. Those that do not will be banned from GMing future games or joining other games for a certain period of time. Any games that do not make it past 3 years will not be included in the scoreboard.
GMs, at the end of every fall, MUST list the number of each SCs each country holds. They also much list if there is a replacement.
GMs may also set certain qualifications at the start of their games. If the GMs want people with fewer games, etc, they are able to say so and the players must abide but this.

Scoreboard
Here's what happens:
At the start of each game, everyone antes 10% of their current score to the pot. In the case of multiple players running one country/power, the fraction of game time they played is multiplied by that 10%, and the result is added to the pot. At the end of the game, if someone solo wins, they get it all, everyone else gets zero. If the game ends in a draw, then each player in the draw takes out 5% of the pot to start with (no matter how big the draw is), and people who survived to the end but voted themselves out of the draw take 1% of the pot each.
The rest of the pot is divided up among the players in the following way: the formula below tells you the "raw score" of a player, given their performance in the game. This raw score determines what portion of the remaining pot goes to them - if Player A had a raw score of 10, Player B had 20, and Player C had 30, and the pot had 50 points left in it (after the percentages from the above paragraph were taken out), then Player A would get 50 * [10/(10+20+30)] = 8.33 of the 50, Player B would get twice that, and player C would get three times that. The raw score formula is, for someone who ended the game with S supply centers, and was, at the end of the game, ahead of N_s other players in the supply center counts, who had a maximum supply center count over the whole game of M, which when compared to everyone else's maximum supply center count was greater than N_m of them, and who survived for Y years (from beginning year to elimination year, including that year/half year), gets a raw score of:
Raw Score = [S * (N_s + 1)] + [(1/5) * M * (N_m + 1)] + Y
The points awarded to countries/powers run by multiple players get awarded to the all players who controlled it, using the above equation, where each of the variables is adjusted for the timespan each player controlled. However, because a player would have dropped out mid-game in that situation, that player's final SC count would be 0. Picking up a surrendered country/power MUST be approved by the GM of the game to prevent inaccuracies from arising in the scoreboard. "Surrendering" a country/power does NOT count as being eliminated, only when all the SCs of a country/power have been taken by others is it truly eliminated, nor does it count as leaving mid-game, as it is essentially ordering all units to hold position.
All players surviving until the end of a game MUST specify if they want to be part of the draw, unless it is a solo win where there is no draw.
