In expansion of the poll somewhere on this forum, what sort of race should the new one(s) be (if there are any, which there'd better)

I say 'Naga. Then again, I am not completely sure what the question is.

Then again, I am not completely sure what the question is.
The question is: If there's a new race in Starcraft II, what should it be?

If there were robots then it would be the same as Halo. The robots would be like the robots under the control of 343 guilty spark. Go to this thread http://www.warboards.org/showthread.php?t=253 to find out more about what I am talking about.

Ah, but would the robots be fighting lings, Zealots, and Ghosts?

They'd prolly be different from the ones in Halo. I never seen em before, but if Blizzard can think up a mouthless undead inside a mechanical four-legged spider that shoots phase disruptors from its navel, I'm sure they can think up some imaginative robot.

So, who voted for Other?

That was me. Well that might be different but the idea is too similar.

Well, whatayou think it should be?

I think either the Hybrids or the Xel'naga.

Zertoss all the way!
But then again, heres my 2 cents.

The expansion of zerg option? If any of the races stays just the same, I am SO out. It should be like what war 2 was to war. Think about it. Almost the same effects, but different in a totally new way. New spells, new troops, WATER.

But then again, we were all hoping that.

I just don't want it to be like War 3, i was dissappointed in it, personally... I felt the Humans were a bit shafted plotwise anyway...

My apologies for ranting in a foolish sounding manner

I think that if they do add a race, they should most definately add hybrids, but robots would be cool too. If they added Xels it would be awesome, but if they do add Xel i bet theyll wait till sc3 (?) because there isnt really any reference to the Naga in sc or bw.

It’s hard to choose

I say Zerg/Protoss Hybrid and Xel'naga.

I would like to see robots or some form of artifical intelligence. Something original, not a mimic of another race. Xe'l naga would ruin the game in my eye.

How about SC Critters as a race?

I voteed for the Xel' Naga but now that i think about it robots could be pretty cool. How would they fit them into the stroy though? I thought of one way... it sounds too... matrixy for me though.

The UED is sending a larger fleet to the k-sector than they did last time. A few years of research has led to some very effective robots for fighting using a very impressive A.I. On the very very long trip, the robots for some reason i cant think of right now, revolted and wiped the defenseles UED people. The robots where their fighting units, the rest were just scientist, engineers, pilots, Etc. They keep the ships because they know they have no other way to travel their way back to earth, or to the K-Sector.

I didnt have much time to type this up, but i dunno, the Xel'Naga wold be pretty cool.

Robots into SC:

One sunny day a Terran Battlecruiser was running from an unfriendly Protoss fleet. In an attempt to escape it enterd hyperspeed however at that same time the protoss fired a high intensity energy beam. This sent the Battlecruiser off into woop woop. The battlecruiser eventually decelerated into a robot (AI) infested sector. [The robots also one of the Xel'Naga creations. With the failure of their biological creations the Xel'Naga made a final attempt at a superior life form. As the Zerg and Protoss before them rebelled against the Xel'Naga so did the Robots] The Robots took the Battlecruiser and learnt of the SC Universe.

Critters in SC:

Critters got a little pissed from always being killed. They stumbeld across some Terran toxic waste and rapidley evolved.

I'll like a race of something similar to The night Elves in war3

But this isent war 3 its sc2 and the night elfs , what do u mean netrunner ,

night elfs have wisps , the wisps go into buildings and make it just like a scv,

night elfs have buildings that can get up and move round and attack , terren have buildings that can lift off but can not attack ,

night elfs have mobile def , they are slow but fire air and ground , protoss got the p cannon it dosent move but its like the nigh elf def

their are night elf simalarities all though starcraft but what is so good about the night elf any way why do u think their should be a race based like them in sc2 and what type of units / buildings are you talking about incorperating??

I think I know what he means. I love the night elves, they're my fav race in WarIII for the same reasons as I like the Zerg: they're organic. They use the powers of nature. In the Zerg's case, exaggerated nature. And perhaps the night elves are similar to the Protoss, with magic and honor and that stuff. If you think about it, they already got TWO races similar to the night elves in Starcraft.

Races aren't all about units and abilities, right? They're also about what the race is like: their rules, their leaders, their basic culture.

This better by what you meant, netrunner, or else I'm basically called meself dafoo here. ;p

You know what? Robots, or as I like better, Machines are one of the most popular races that people talk about if any race came out of the "blue". *cough*Naga*cough* Actualy I love the Naga, if they were playable they would be my number one choice in Warcraft 3 (Frozen Throne).

The Machines could be one of the Xel-naga's creations (I know this has been said before). They could be good at stealing and taking control of other machines. For example, there could be a certain Machine unit that would go out a search for other machines. It would disable it and steal its technology. Then it would return with the data to a certain building and the building could store it, you could have multiple desiegens inside the building (If the building was destroyed you would lose all of the data).
The could be another building that would use that data to rebuild the unit, for a higher cost them normal though.

Another race could be another Terran faction, Durans forces... They could use a similar abilty to steal genetic mateial from biological units. And then these could be cloned. They would also be able to make Hybrids.

I'll vote machines.

i would enjoy to have 5-6 races total but alot of people are complaining it will ruin everything. it all dependes on how it is set up ie:

zerg-biological
terran-machanical/biological
protoss-psionic(not machanical)

they could add some other races without stepping on toes for example:

ued-machanical
hybrid-biological/psionic
xel'naga-energy(or something else)

the ued(united earth dorectoret) would learn from mistakes from past and send machines only and not waste any more humans lives.(at least not theirs)

hybrids will be just that...hybrids with psionic abilitys

xel'naga would be an interesting race for they would mostly wiped out(zerg history) and would proboly have a grudge. they would be simular to protoss(protoss history) but deal in genetics and could have biological disseases. and other fun stuff like that.

that is what i think any coments e-mail me

out of curiosity, what happened to the race at the end of the 2nd starcraft book shadow of xel'naga?

I'd go with the zerg/protoss hybrid, it'd be interesting to see what types of species they come up with. O_o

Edit: I agree with you on this, the whole idea makes me want sc2 even more. :shiftyr:

I think that Starcraft has enough races, making a Starcraft II with exactly the same number of races would be a real challenge. Adding more would be just fun.

I voted for a "robots" race. But, I would have given a vote also to Xell Naga and Zerg expansion.
A Xell Naga race wich looked like "normal" aliens with small bodies, large brains and black eyes. Intelligent, physically weak, with floating buildings dependent on the energy of power plants, organized in communities with an anarchical government.
A robots race which would have developed as an outcome of humans efforts to make intelligent machines. Some of those robots sent to other planets became autonomous. With modular buildings (a modular building which can reshape for and back to any other building), somewhat governed by computers, but really behaving in a chaotic manner, by hazard.
A Zerg's mutation for which overlords can't fly but any other unit can fly. Melee units have to land for fighting.

I think the Dark Templar civilization would be an interesting choice. After Aiur's almost complete annihilation, I believe some of the survivors went to Shakurus, so that could be an interesting new aspect in the continuing story line. How would the Protoss from Aiur try to or not try to get along with the Dark Templar?

well in the bonus level in brood war.. duran(who i think is Xel'Naga himself, since he said he is older than the protoss) was creating the Zerg/Toss hybrids and said that they are planted on millions of other planets..

So i definately think hybrids will be in.. maybe the Xel'Naga also

Have the UED seperate, with stronger, more expensive units (not as strong or expensive as 'toss tho)
And better airforce as the UED will be heavily relying on their massive fleets.
